  1. Thanks for the B D wishes blue cod the sunfish are awesome they were around two meters diameter. If people are keen to see them go to. [url=http://www.austmus.gov.au/fishes/fishfacts/fish/oceansunfish
  2. Exactly right Alex the thought was in all our minds but it is a lot easier said than done. In saying that too... I think your first approach should be to trust your gear will do the job. Its not too often that this situation will arise and therefore, in my opinon thinking that 50lb braid then 15kg would be up to the task would be a sensible assumption to make. unfortunatly on this occasion we were wrong.
  3. No unfortunatley, i thought it was a rather large shark at first then saw the other one doing these fantastic figure 8s as it gulped down jellys. Awesome creatures
  4. Bashir I firmly beleive nothing was going to stop them, unlike us they werent even trying and showed only mild annonce at being hooked.
  5. James just beware fishing the northen side of L.R with any large swell running in the size boat you talk about as it can pitch quite alot. I agree that it can be problamatic launching from the beach but the run from sydney to L.R in your size boat could be a long one use good judgement to decide which option is best for you. lastly if fishing any offshore location make sure you are prepared espically in a smaller size boat as the one you describe. Get longie right and you will have a ball....Good luck
  6. Went out for the Birthday bash yesterday with determined hopes of nailing one of the kings of the abyess that have been blowing me and Mark D away over the last week. Unfortunetly like waking from a dream or should I say nightmare, the monsters of the deep were nowhere to be seen. Using live 20cm pike and slabs of tailor I thought I was a shoe in. Isnt fishing a fickle game? Did manage to get onto the obligatory sambos and rustle up a few tailor from the same school that me and Mark D were working on Sunday and the highlight of the day was seeing two huge sunfish gourging them selves on jellys. What amazing creatures, all in all the day was a bit of a mixed bag with the beauty of nature providing the highlights.
  7. The motor was the only real dampener on a really great day even more frustrating when I worked out what had happened. Unless Id been there myself I probably wouldnt have believed it, awsome fishing experience.
  8. Here Here Andy not worth the paper its printed on.
  9. Great brace fishrunner you did well getting those in the conditions faced on Sunday. Cheers Phil
  10. No probs mate sorry for the rough ride home but again I hasd a ball. The problems been fixed with the outboard I wont go into to details for fear of ridicule. The only way we will stop these fish is with a couple of sticks of dynamite and possible a battleship its great fun trying though.
  11. Heading out Sunday morn, hopefully some king fish and beer for lunch then watch the bro do his thing in the pits at bathurst... Go bro dont stuff up the tyre change now.
  12. Good one Ken wish I was out there.
  13. Oh well the ol' Bad days fishin is better than a good days work has gotta apply to that location clutch.
  14. Great fish Pukka even better effort pulling her from the LCR.
  15. Thanks mate Im really stoked with it. your more than welcome to come out wider with me and mark some time.
  16. yeah we did mate it was great to catch up with Mark and you. you would of done well on the tuna I recon. nxt time eh.
  17. Did he get the 5 blast salute with a big puckofski from the captain?
  18. Nice for some! I dont think Mr MaGill would be quite so confident with the captain cook bearing down on him
  19. G Day Ken it was great to say G day and you were definetly doing better with the fluff than we were with the spin gear. Mate you should of seen then a month ago the school was conservetley about 300m square and even with a few blokes running straight through them would jump on everything. Its hard when its like the condtions on Friday with a flotilla of boats chasing them all over the joint so to do well is a real credit. Good on ya.
  20. G Day Joe went out today with the ball and chain for a little R an R of shelly and you wouldnt of thought that tunks was a quite ramp at all, abousolute chaos with a thousand idots thrown in summer has surley started. The wreck you mention is an old coal loader I think but I may be wrong. There is a fantastic tackle thief hiding in its bowels and Im fairly sure its a black cod. I have seen the odd one taken there but if anyone manages to get him out please let him go. The large hole east of the spit is a fantastic jewie hole and an even better king hole but its hard to fish as you cant anchor in the channel and the morings mean that fish reef you very easily, and as soon as boat traffic gets up forget it. There are even better holes near by and when we meet up Ill share the wealth with you. Cheers Phil
  21. G Day Mark, thanks for the great day mate and Im glad I could kinda deliver. In answer to the question I can assure all they were defenitly not port Jaksons, or if they were they are like non ive ever encounetred. Shovelnose might be a geusse but again over hard bottom rather than sand? Also the tuna, and Im certain they were were too big for bonies. Great to meet some other raiders and espically great to meet mark. Any time mate and next time well nail em.
  22. Thats a ripper Kingrule whered ya get him?
