  1. i was always told they are somewhat of a chameleon not taking long too change colour to suit there surroundings im not saying it happens in minutes but maybe days, i think if a blackie comes from the sandy beach and then proceeds through the lake and then stays there for a few days i think they start to change colour and vice versa. there are so many sheens of colour on different blackfish from purple to bronze and even greenish tinges but i dont know why some of there fins have a reddish hint to them??? see the red in the fins these were caught in sydney harbor
  2. yea i know royce had a metalworker help him on a couple ( that i know of ) of his reels and he couldnt stress anymore that its well worth getting a GOOD tradesman as it could mean the end for a great reel im going through some problematic stages with an old 4 inch speedia at the moment im just contemplating if its worth spending an extra few dollars to track down another...

just wondering what type of squid the bottom one is i havnt seen before are the other 2 arrows?? first time squidding thanks in advance.
  5. cheers guys. pj garn yeah im not one to jump in front of the camera but ill blame it on the gf. esky it was like a train striping my line off the reel i had the drag set accordingly but i knew that fireline is much stronger than it is rated so i tightened the drag during the fight or i would have come clos to the bottom of the spool. the 4lb leader is what i was worried about..
  6. gday peter i was wondering why there were so many carp feeding there before i got there i said last summer i was going to get a nice bass this season i didnt quiet expect it to happen this quikly
  7. that is manly dam and last year i caught heaps of smaller ones with only 1 in the 20cm plus i probably got one of the very few large ones in there
  8. well its been a while since id fished freshwater end of last summer actually but decided to have a go took the with me and decided to have a go at some carp which was a first for me. waiting for about an hour and a half till i decided too put my spin setup together for some lures. i decided to go for a spinnerbait which i hadnt done before and about 3 casts later thud zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz holy sh#! i had 2 lb fireline on 4lb mono leader and a 53cm bass on the end it just kept takin and takin went for a few runs as i was slowly gaining line got her on shore took a few quick snaps and gently let her go then zzzzzz rod goes off with a nice 48cm carp. had a great day and am looking forward to this summer. oh and next cast ping spinner goes flyin without the line the big girl must have just been hangin on when i pulled her in the leader snapped half way up so i can count myself lucky to have got her.

    Rod V Reel ..

personally for the type of fishing i do the rod is more important a reel with a good drag system certainly is important when tackling a bigger fish especially on light line..
