  1. second one is a sargent baker, not the best on the table, too many bones. the others not sure can't see them properly.
  2. what colour buttrest is acceptable? I mean are they serious, they must not have much to talk about if the colour of a butrest is a major topic for conversation.

    Avet Reels

I reckon you should get one of the new viva lever drag jigging reels. I know a guy that can get them cheap as and he reckons they are better than all the above reels ????
  7. see tony at fishfinder bait and tackle. it is well worth it the upgraded drag is mega!
  8. where the hell are the rules? looked but can't find
  9. try some squidgy fish, in the black and gold or gary glitter colour with about a 3/8 ounce jig head and presto! Well done on your first rubber caught flathead!
  10. I reckon it deserved to live, look at qld's regs. Flathead fishing is safe for years to come up there. We should follow their lead. But it's legal so nobody has the right to be too angry.

    Reel

shimano spheros 14000, you can also upgrade the drag on this reel at fishfinder bait and tackle to carbon. This pulls pretty serious drag.

Would you consider spin gear! There are heaps of tough spin reels these days and not all of them cost an arm and a leg.
  13. nice work! It's about time the fad was deployed, i was hoping that it was already out there but couldn't find any info on it's where abouts. Now i know why. I went for a fish today also around the kurnell headlands for the super reliable kings that have been there for the last month but they have dissapeared after last weeks bad weather. they must have moved into the bay now as you guys have proven. cheers, good fishing to all!
  14. the hookup was on the second hook of the squid stinger rig. the funny thing was when the second fish hooked up there was no bait on the hook!
  15. went out this morn at 0500 from botany bay. The plan was to look for kings around the washes of kurnell. The only problem was trying to navigate through the ridiculously thich fog which was only allowing me to see about 15 meters in front of the bow. Finally after about half an hour and much dissorientation I mannaged to find my bearings and target my fav wash. I slow trolled squid around the headland and hooked up on the second pass. I soon had a king in the boat and about 15 hanging around the boat. They were only small fish but still good fun. After i ran out of squid i decided to spin for them and caught a few on white bass assassin stick baits which was fun, especially on 6lb bream gear. any way here is a couple of pics. One of them is a double hookup on one bait!

  17. going to the whitsundays for a week in a couple of days does any one know of any good spots to fish? I'm sure there is plenty of good spots but being such a large area some direction would be handy. any info on the area would be interesting. cheers!
  18. olympus e 500 slr with the 40=150mm zuico lens. the photos look better before compression.
  19. yes mate . pm me for more shots.
  20. this is a photo of you guys i think! did you get any kings?
  21. the us postage seems to be around $80 us. that equates to about $250 australian. I don't think i will bother making a dodgy backyard model after all. the rod mounted on the boat rather than down rigger does seem like the safer option too.
  22. the plastic male fitting that the holder swivels on kind of spripped/sheared then the holder popped up a touch causing it to swivel. the rod flicked off in slow motion and then i watched it sink to the bottom swearing my head off.
  23. i have those berkely rod holders ay the moment and am about to take them off because of failure. those rod holders lost me a $400 outfit on a strike. I just did some research and it looks like you can buy a scotty 1050 depthmaster from an american shop for $129 american, not sure on postage costs yet but will post them when i find out.
