  1. cheers , you'd be the first, it's funny how things sometimes look different in photos
  2. 42cm bream! caught on my birthday
  3. where are the pictures?
  4. every bunny deserves to be eaten or thrown in the bin
  5. I saw an ad in bush n beach fishing magazine last month for profish boats. they are offering 16ft plate aluminium centre console boat motor trailer packages for $16 800, sounds ok! They also make much larger boats and everything can be customised to suit. they are made on the sunshine coast just north of brisbane. They look pretty good on their web site but i havn't actualy seen one in the flesh. If anyone has seen one or heard something about these boats, that would be cool. I might go up to the factory and have a look for my self in the next few weeks as i am moving back to brisbane next week. any info would be much appreciated. cheers guys!
  6. i have braid on my spheros and have no problems at all!
  7. my favourite is the bass assasin stick baits the realy thin ones not the ones like sluggos. White gets the most attention. my mate also likes to troll a purple, black magic jet setter and it scores very well on kings and anything pelagic including bonito, salmon, tailor etc.etc
  8. you can also get scotty's and cannons sent for the same price from the states, interesting to see which is better!
  9. nice work boys! the old gaffer brains the jew again! cheers
  10. port hinchinbrook with hinchinbrook is in background. the lucinda sugar loader
  11. they taste absolutely tops, chicken of the sea! many of the old blokes who fish the estuaries in north qld prefer them to barra on the table and i would have to agree with them. the texture of their flesh when cooked is actualy more similar to chicken than fish.
  12. nice photos slinky! I love the last one, it's a top shot. are they all yours? here is a couple more: plotting a course in the whitsundays trolling for dollies in greece salmon on the boil in sydney. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ADD MORE PHOTOS TO THIS TOPIC- i love seeing nice shots
  13. first pic coroboree billabong nt. second pic yellow rock sydney. third pic otter reef qld. fourth pic hinchinbrook channell qld
  14. you don't need to buy super expensive gear as mentioned above. you'l need one 7ft 15kg+ spin rod loaded with 50lb braid for heavy spinning\popping or bottom bashing and an overhead loaded to the brim with 15kg mono for trolling for macs etc. You could also take a 6-10kg spin outfit for casting small metal slugs at macks and tuna and casting plastics for smaller reef fish. if you are on a budget a 200lb handline will catch you just as many bottom reef fish as anything and costs bugger all. have a great trip!! and remember to take some single strand wire too
  15. the top fish is a tusk fish of the grass or venus variety. they are a common reef fish in southern queensland and northern nsw. they are a snapper bycatch and also taste great.
  16. top info gaffer! very well thought out and also very well written.
  17. nice fish mate! what colour was the uzi that you were using? i have a couple and am curious as to what colour they preferred. top stuff. It's interesting that they snubbed the livies for pilchards and skirts.
  18. This is a top rig!! you can also upsize the jig to 200gm and there is your downrigger with built in flasher/teaser although mabe increase the leader to at least a meter. this ia a cheap way to slow troll your livies/ squid etc, more importantly it works.
  19. top stuff magoo!!, will be trying this rig. It looks the goods!
  20. the seppos put that warning on any product that contains lead. if you have a pregnant wife you should keep the lead as far away as possible it's no joke.
  21. cheers mate. if targeting kingfish: in regards to the stinger i mentioned earlier, would the bait spin even if the stinger was a small but strong treble that was simply tied to the gape of the first hook on about 5" of trace and free hanging. what i mean by that is the treble is not pinned in the fish. if this worked, it would hook up a lot more kings. I noticed with the one hook rig a few baits got hit behind the hook resulting in a hit but no hook up. This also happened to me up north qld with macs.
  22. cheers mcgoo, looks good, that is wire crimped on the hook is it, how thick is it. Great photos! can you put a stinger trailing off the first hookor does it compromise the swimming action of thr bait? thanks to all who gave input to this topic! cheers alex.
