  1. The plan was to get yellowtail at Moll Point go to the Peak and get some big kings as I had done ok out there last Friday, the yakkas where a bit hard to come by but after a change of spot managed to 12 or 13,so off to Peak we went there was a fair swell and bit of chop on top so it was bumpy ride out ,but the day was getting better the wind was dropping, things were looking good until the first drop then things went bad lost the hole rig in 2 minutes so after 6 more yakkas went the same way we decided the leather jackets had won the day ,so a change of plan was called for ,we went to wedding cake trolled around it a couple of times for one bonito ,then for some bottom bouncing at the trag grounds where we got a couple of mowies and snapper and a few assorted reef fish and that was it for the day

  2. Thought we would try for some kings in the Bay yesterday ,plan was catch some squid go to Moll Point and load up on kings sounds easy enough, but after a hour and a half and not a squid to be found we changed the plan and went to to the northen end of Moll Point and caught a dozen yellowtail and went and anchored up on the point with about 10 other boats and set out our yakkas three hours later the score was 3 rat kings and one bonito all caught on prawns, another plan change was called for so we slow trolled some yakkas along the front of Cape Bailey again the kings did not want to play, another plan change STUFF the kings lets catch some flathead Finally the plan came together we landed 12 good flathead in about an hour , all in all it was a great day ,The Kings will have to show up soon????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

  6. I planned to fish the Bay this morning but at 7.30 it was cloudy and spitting rain so I changed my mind but at 9, am it looked ok so I went it was cold but I was desperate for fish it started pretty slow a few small flatties and a flounder ,forgot to say left all my lures in the back of the ute all I had was 2 packets of nuclear chicken 5in jerk shads but they did the trick managed 4 keepers and 1 reasonable fish of about 56cm so it turned out to be a good morning

    Cheers Garry

  7. Nice fish mate. I was out there in the morning on my yellow kayak. The water was crap early morning and I got hammered by the "choppyness." Did end up with a couple of Trevs on deep diving lures. Even some flatties hit them but they were too small. Anyhow, nice fish and nice reel (is that a Stradic?)

Mate I think you went past me I was at Brighton out the front of Coles you did not look to comfortabe

  8. Went for a fish in the bay yesterday late start 9am[hate winter] it was not all that pleasant with a stiff westerly chopping up the bay ,it was pretty slow but managed to 3 good flatties from 45 to 55 cm and heaps of small fish I was about to call it a day at 12/30when I got a solid hit it turned out to be a 72cm flattie my best fish for quite a while fished for another hour but only small fish,

The lure that did all the damage was a berkley 5in jerk shad on a 3/8 head

  9. Well today weight up the anchor and chain it bearly hit 9kg which to my surprise is pretty light! Im not sure why they would recommond usin such a short length in the first place. So i went out and brought my self another 6mtrs of chain which takes the totally weight too roughly 15kg. So i got a buffer from the max 20kg rating they have. So in totally 10mtrs of chain plus a sarca anchor if this doesnt hold im goin to shoot my self :1prop:

Heres are pic of the set up b4 the extra chain.

Hooker I have the same anchor and looks about the amount of chain but my chain is heavier than yours, mine works great in all conditions or bottom ,I do let it drop slow and it works every time,,my boat is 5mt Seafarer

    Cheers Garry

Went for a spin in the Bay this morning first time for a while ,late start because of low tide ,good conditions no wind or rain ,started on the leases in Woollaware Bay got some small flatties and bream ,moved into the Bay as the tide began to run got 2 keeper flatties and a heap of small ones ,managed one good bream on a 5in gulp dropped a couple others that felt like good fish ,the wind picked up and it started to rain so I called it a day , all in all a very pleasant morning , the bream went 42cm

I went for a quick flick in the Bay yesterday morning the conditions were perfect ,I only had 3 hours so I headed over to the foreshore at Brighton there was just enough breeze to get a nice drift going and the flathead were on the bite ,I got a 50cm fish on the third drop and they kept coming within an hour I caught 6 and kept 4 between 45 & 55cm then the boat was surrounded by school of chopper tailer which made short work of my gulps so I waited till they were a couple of hundred yards away be for I started again first drop got creamed before it got to the bottom and it was no tailer it screamed off about 60 meters of 8lb fireline in 4 seconds I thought it was going to spool me so started the boat and motored after it any after 5 minutes it started to slow a bit and I got some line back it made another 4 or 5 strong runs in the next 10 minutes or so,but it finaly got tired and came to the boat It was a 65cm king and it was dead on 65cm so he came home for tea ,I thought the day could not get much better but a short time later I got another good hit it was no kingy but a nice 67cm flattie so after a quick pic it went back

All in all another great day on the BAY

  13. post-571-1258687303_thumb.jpgWent to Botany Bay this morning to see if I could spin up some flathead I went out on Monday and got my bag limit [kept 7] so I thought it would be easy to get a feed today but after 3 hours with out a hit I was not so sure managed to land one fish and drop 2 good fish at the boat and then nothing at 10.30 it was bloody hot there was no wind and not much drift so decided head for home and a cold beer ,but I had to try one more spot and on the second drop got a very soild hook up I thought it was a very good flatty but it turned out to be a very good bream

PS I forgot to say that Bay got lots chopper tailer schooling around Brighton and Ramsgate

  14. post-571-1252643696_thumb.jpgWent for a spin in the Bay this morning, I found it very slow managed 4 small fish in 3 hours ,tried to fish along the front of Brighton beach but found the lures kept coming up covered in a brown slimy weed that seems to turn up every year so I fished over the Kurnnell side of the Bay there was no weed but it was slow got one good fish it went 69cm and that was it .

Hope you blokes go better in the Bay comp on the weekend
