  1. top catch mate

    what lures were you using?

i'm finding lately that if it isn't burkley they aren't interested?!?!

the biggest took a prawn star the rest took 5in jerk shads [berkley]

nice looking fish mate. Good work....

I was on the bay yesterday, the water was very calm and the wind was down, but the fish just wern't biting.

Even up the river towards oatley there was little action.

Where are you drifting for the flatties?

Tumra we caught some around Kernell and some close in at Brighton

    yes we were drifting

  2. Hit the Bay this morning it was bloody cold there was ice on the windscreen of the car , Seabreeze said it was going to be a good day and I was desperate for a fish so away we went got on the water about 8am, the first hour was pretty slow with only 2 small fish but then Monty gets a good hit and after a good fight up comes a 63cm flathead after that it got quite again for around hour but as the tide started run the flathead came on the bite not as good as they had been on my last 2 trips we were getting a fish every second drift or so and they were good fish 45cm to 56cms so the next couple of hours was good fishing and the weather just got better and better buy 11am the wind was just about gone and we had defrosted any way we had enough fish so we called it a day we caught 10 or 12 flathead kept 6 the bigger fish were released

All fish were caught on lures

  3. Managed to get out for a couple of hours this morning before the Norwest wind got to strong ,it was hard fishing as the wind and current were going the same way witch makes for a very quick drift but anyway we thought there we may as well give it a try as my mate Monty was busting for a fish ,after about a half-hour I got a 40cm flatty and then monty got a good hit ,and after a good battle up came a 65cm flatty , but by now the wind had got stronger and the drift to fast so we moved to the other side of the Bay to Ramagate as the it offered a bit of protection from the wind after 20 minutes I got a good hit and up came a another good flatty almost the same size as Monty’s although mine was a lot lighter colour we landed couple of smaller fish after that ,but the wind was now blowing at about 40mph so we called it a day

  5. Botany Bay 2/7 /07 hit the bay this morning late start did not get on the water till 8/15 I could not believe how good the conditions were bugger all wind and not to cold ,anyway have not been able to fish for almost 2 weeks ,started where I finished last time and the fish were still there first couple of fish were small [just legal] so I thought maybe I was a bit late but once I worked out the drift the fish came hard and fast ,over the next 3 hours I landed around 20 flathead all fish were over legal kept 7 or 8 ,2 were 65cm the rest were between 45cm and 50 cm and once again I lost the biggest fish of the day at the boat , estimate it was around 75 to 80cm ,but that’s way it goes all in all it was a great morning all fish were caught on Berkley Gulp 5inch jerk shads .If the weather holds I will go again on Wednesday

  6. I could not stand it any longer ,braved the conditions and went for a spin ,not much wind but light showers came and went ,any way got to my spot and thought i must be mad, second drop bingo a 60 cm flatty and they came thick and fast got a hit every second or third drop in 3 hours caught about 20 flathead the best was 75cm a couple around 65cm lost 2 at the boat that i reckon were over 80cm also got a nice bream and some tailor

I was back at the boat ramp at 10/30

It looks like all the rain pushed the fish out into the bay I kept 6 fish all the fish had empty stomachs but looked in good condition

THINK I WILL GO AGAIN ON MONDAY

    sorry about the picture qualtiypost-571-1182670056_thumb.jpg

  7. Got up early on Saturday morning to find a fairly strong southerly blowing and big dark clouds so decided to wait for a while and see if it would improve and it did by 7/30 the clouds had started to clear and the wind had dropped enough to make it fishable ,got on the Bay at 8/15 went back to the same spot as last Saturday expecting the same results but it was not to be it was very slow a couple of hits but no hook ups, finaly got a flatty it went about 55cm in the next half hour got three more but to small moved to another spot straight out from the oil wharf near the gold posts and got 4 flattys straight away one of 60cm and 55cm and 2 small fish by this time the drift had taken out near the tanker moorings and deeper water I was just about go back and do the same drift again when I got a big hit ,the first run took 100yard 4kg fireline and some mono backing so I started motor and chased it [thank god for centre consoles]this went on for about ten minutes before he got tired and then he was mine , a very unhappy 61cm KINGFISH

So that was enough excitement for me I called it a day and was back at ramp at 11/30

P/S all fish taken on gulp shads camo & lime tiger

  8. Sounds like a nice little day.

    How many did you keep?

Did you keep the 65cm model?

Were the bream and snapper on SP's as well or were they taken on bait?

    Steve I kept 5 I threw back 7 or 8 I did keep the 65cm fish

all fish were taken on S/Ps mainly on gulp shads

  9. Fished Botany Bay yesterday it was a bit slow to start with but picked up as the tide started to run most of the flathead were small just over legal I managed a couple around 50 to 55cm and one 65cm most of the fish were caught on berkley gulp shad in camo and lime tiger 4inch .The Bay seems to fishing good at moment I also caught a lot of just under sized snapper and bream around the Watts Reef area , there were some chopper tailor around Sans Souci Witch ate about 10 bucks worth of s/ps

All in all it was a good morining

  10. Funnily enough I have an air horn and a whistle ,just one of those cheap plastic ones.

Reason being I can access the whistle very quickly as it it right near the steering wheel.

Just a thought and for the few bucks it costs it wont break the bank :biggrin2:

    Cheers Stewy

The point I was trieing to make is when the fishing licence first came out there were inspectors every where

but in the passed 2 years they seemed to have dissapeared at least in Botany Bay

Not trying to be critical it was just an observation

  11. Went for a fish in Botany Bay On Saturday ,tried bait first was told there were a lot of bream about and there were all about 3 cm under size spent 2 hours catching under sized bream and snapper then went for a spin things were a bit slow at first a few just legal flattys but once the tide turned the fish got bigger and more aggressive ended up keeping 5 they went from 55cm to 65cm in all caught about 10 flattys so as it was the first time I have fished for a month or more so I was pretty happy , sorry no pics for got to take the camera

  12. well it going to be a little hard to find a starting point but here goes

1 this boat is what most would call a wet boat and I do not mean a light spray and I am not talking

    big swells or winds either

2 the cab lay out is so cramp that you end up with bruising from even the smallest chop both at moving

and drift if you are in the drivers or passenger seat

3 the rod holders on the inside of the boat are as useful as a bull with t___s unless u use surf rods

    in the boat

4 all the live bait pluming leaks

5 the kill tank door does not open far enough and it is near impossible to get to it through the narrow

    gap between the seats

6 the boat slams down hard on the nose even in small chop

7 the boat is approx 13mths old and is already showing stress cracks in the cab

8 the rear seat is of absolute no use and even if you put it down it still gets in the way

    9 any many more problems

and this is not to mention the stupid position the Yamaha put the travel stop on the 100 4stroke that

    I had fitted

and yes it is my fault and my fault only as I did not take it for a test drive before wasting 42000 on a boat

the gives me the shits to the point I don’t want to use it

Sorry to see you in such a state ,never been a cox craft fan my self but been a and couple and thought they were pretty well made and good boat under way ,the hull has a very fine entry witch makes them a boat that has to trimed a lot also a hull that needs trim tabs hope this has been of some help
