I got a few last year in the Hawkesbury. They taste good.

I’ve also seen an increase in traps cleaned out and stolen this year.

    It’s such a shame.

They do look like Coral crab however there is no coral anywhere near here.

My bad, I miss interpreted what you were saying. I even read it three times!

As for my statement! Fish of any size can be great eating if cooked properly! IMO

    No worries Scratchie,all good

    Your post is confusing?

You contradict yourself in the first two sentences.

    Either way, great fish!

In my opinion, all fish are good to eat if prepared and cooked right, regardless of size!

    Cheers scratchie!!!

I was referring to fish a lot bigger than that one, that you see people putting pictures up of, and I am not talking about on this site!

I said that was a good eating size, if you read it as it was printed!

As for eating fish regardless of size, what  do you mean by that, maybe I am reading that wrong?

Nice one mate! Do you chuck the mullet in whole or cut/cube them up when using them for crab baits?

I’ve been cutting them to try get more sent through the water but not sure if it’s needed!?

I cut them open and put scores down the length.

  5. Hi Donna,

We caught 23 in total 6 of which were the red ones. They are a lot heavier than the same size blues.

We lost 2 traps. Almost caught one or the grubs but he out run us through the shallows.

We now know what he looks like and the tinny he uses so we will be looking for him until we find him and hopefully after that he will not be stealing any more.

Got the use of a tinnie for a week and hit narra lake and did some fishing around dusk and got a fair few just undersized bream but no flatties or Jew (using live poddies) as well as mullet fillets. Keen to head out around Cowan creek (launch apple tree bay) but does anyone have any advice on what might be good to catch some sizeable fish?

This time of year as the water cools down you need to get the fish into a attack mode rather than them just cruising around looking for a easy feed.

You need to burly to get it happening. Go closer into bays where the water is shallow and warmer for flathead.

    Hi D.F.,

Congrats on the new kayak. I believe there is an expression along the lines of you can't get too much of a good thing.... I see another few kayaks in your future. :D

Now the engineer in me wants to know what the metal bar bolted to the side of the kayak is for - my first guess is a motor mount.

    Can you please clarify?

    Regards,

    Derek

    Hi Derek,

Yes it is for an electric motor, you can also fit one on the rudder plate, however I think having a tiller steer mounted behind you is stupid!

I may put a foot control Haswing on there as I have one on my fishing boat and hardly ever use it!

My question is why four when you can only use one at a time

I have 5 grandsons and 2 sons that do not have yaks!

Also each yak has a different purpose,

i.e. fast 1 man cruising, 2 man fishing, 1 man bass yak, 1 man sea yak etc!
