It's a Wirrah Cod (old boot) common catch.
Crap to catch and worse to eat.

Great bream Tag! Pity you could not release him as he would have been over 10 years old. Normally do not taste that good as they tend to be quite dry!
Reading between the lines and your pic's I would take a guess that you were fishing around Spencer area?

A bit of a dog tail!
-
Hi Bone crusher, do you know anyone with a horse if so ask them for some hail from their tail and then tie it to a hook with a little fine tie wire, fish early morning or late afternoon and hopefully you will entice a trout to take it.
Try removing the bark from fallen trees and find white grubs put on the hook without any weight and your in with a chance on anything lurking in the lake anytime of the day however as a shallow lake overcast days are best.
God luck young budding fisho!

Juno Point is a run out tide spot. Best time to fish is dusk to around 11pm. My preferred bait ( I have caught some big jews over the years at Juno) is slabs of mullet with no weight.
Jerusalem Bay is as every one knows the hairtail spot in winter and some are also taken throughout the year. Summertime is not worth fishing( in my opinion) although the odd flathead etc are taken if your lucky.

Be careful this is a pay to fish site! (getfishing)
If you want to fish comps all you have to do is join your local fishing club as they all have regular outings, and so do Fish Raider of which you are obviously a member.

In the article they say to write to Mike Baird, after the council merges( he did not take any notice of the people then) the greyhound industry (he did not take any notice of the people then) and they are only the ones that have hit the headlines, what makes them think this ( I will do what I want upstart) will be any different when it comes to our sport?

G'day Raiders,
Looked on the app for the forecast which was for a good sunny day and indeed was a beautiful day with low swell and mild SW wind. Thought today might get into some good fish after the very cold days. Caught 2 large squid and tried for yakkas, they were there but for some odd reason not biting on the sabiki rig. Went to flint & steel at the tide change for nothing then tried the railway bridge for nothing as well. Even with the fresh squid the fish weren't biting. Must be an off day for fish as every thing was ideal!!
Will be interested to know how did everybody else go if they were out and about!
Cheers
The Hawkesbury is very quiet everywhere, with the cold winter and dirty water from all the rain it still is recovering. The best place to fish is drifting Broken Bay when the river is like that.
September should see the river start to fire up as long as we don't get any more deluges along the tributaries to the river to wash all the crap into the old girl.

Is there anybody on here who's good at taking photos in the dark? I have a Canon EOS which (generally) takes good pictures in low light conditions. I still can't work out how to take pictures in the dark with it, though. I know that a tripod is best and a slow aperture speed and the correct setting...yet still haven't been able to make it turn into any decent pictures. Any suggestions from anyone? Cheers, Neil the inquisitive.
I use a panasonic and it takes good low light pictures in auto mode, you do need a tripod or a very steady hand as it can take up to 60 seconds or more. Manual mode is better as you can set the shutter speed and light but again a tripod is the way to go.

Their great shots Neil, nature at her best.

Hi Raiders,
I got this email today,
Andrew
You are making a difference! Click here to boost your impact on facebook
Over 14,000 people sent a message to the Senate Inquiry into super trawlers, making it loud and clear that Australians don’t support these industrial factory ships plundering our fisheries and marine life. THANK YOU!
MP’s are listening
Your actions prompted Liberal MP Bob Baldwin and Labor MP Melissa Parke to take a stand in the Federal Parliament against the super trawler.
We know MP’s are increasingly worried about the deaths of protected species, AFMA hiding information from the public, and impacts on local fishers. They are seeking expert advice, meeting with community members, and looking into ways to stop these foreign factory vessels. This is so important in the lead up to the Federal Election. Thank you for making this happen!
Super trawler law-breakers – spread the message
Seafish - who operates the monster trawler Geelong Star - has just received a $40,000 fine for illegally dumping 1,000 truckloads of wastewater from their old fish processing plant. Do you really think Seafish is going to stick by the laws managing our fisheries and protecting our marine life or do you think they will do everything they can to make a buck before moving on? Like and share our facebook post here so people know the truth about these law-breakers. If you don’t have facebook, forward this email onto 5 friends.

Whale shark investigation
We’re really worried about the impacts of the super trawler on the whale shark because experts say that these animals are vulnerable and should not be lifted out of the water. AFMA still won’t provide details, so we’ve put in requests through Freedom of Information to get the real truth. We’ll keep you posted.
We won’t give up
This was never going to be easy and we aren’t there yet, but we must not give up. The world’s fisheries are suffering - 29% are overfished and 61% are fully exploited* - so these foreign factory vessels need new fishing grounds. We must make sure that the Australian small pelagic fishery doesn’t go down the industrial path that has been so devastating elsewhere.
Thanks so much for everything you’re doing to help stop this tragedy unravelling on our shores.

That fine is only $40 a truck it would cost more for them to dump it legally, so who's laughing?
The local council fined a new land owner near me $3000 for cutting trees down, his comment, that's only about $10 a tree if I knew that I would have cut down 10 times as many! so who's laughing?
These fines may sound a lot to the run of mill working family but to people with money to burn it's laughable.
So now you know who's laughing!
It's not you and me that's for sure.

Donna, what a fantastic wrap up of the weekend! It's funny, because everyone that is there can post all they want but it still doesn't describe how awesome it is living there in that moment!
The beautiful river, cliff surroundings, screams from raiders "I'm on", sitting there waiting for your turn, the banter between everyone and then finally "your on"! And knowing every raider is there wishing you the very best! It just doesn't get better than that! Except the fact my kids are by my side! That was the highlight of my trip!
Thank you both Donna and stewy for the recognition you bestowed on me! I love this site and have made many friends because of it!
You both truly need to sit back sometime and understand the community that you have both created! The comraderie that exists between raiders is something I've never experienced before in any situation. People willing to spend and give their time and knowledge to complete strangers just because they are Fishraiders!
Now that is special!
So, for all you good people out there reading this.......... See you next year!
Cheers scratchie!!!
well said! I wish I could have been there but work unfortunately takes precedence.

For my 2 bobs worth I think that the people with big heavy boats that drive on and get stuck about halfway up then gun their boats to get them moving (some stand in one spot for ages) are the ones doing the damage at the end of the ramps.
I don't know weather it's because they have their trailer set up wrong for their boat, they don't want to get their car tyres wet or just plain inconsiderate of the other ramp users and the environment!

Watch the weather as there is a lot of debris in the Hawkesbury at the moment. With the dam full and due to flow over today it will bring a lot more down river.
Your better of staying down around the lower Hawkesbury and don't venture up past Bar Point.
Saying that you would be hiring a house boat down that way and not around Wisemans to save you a lot of time.

I agree with dirvin21, the months with no r's are the time of year that muddies (not up in the tropic's) have little meat in them. Blue swimmers for some reason can be full of meat all year round. On saying that I have taken mud crabs in August and they were pretty good it really depends on the water temperature and if there is abundance of food around for them at that time, usually there isn't.

I decided to swap trailers for the tinny.
I didn't know how bad the trailer was until the war wagon was off it and we turned her upside down, I knew she had a bit of rust in the tail but one good hit and the last cross member nearly disintergrated near the weld, as this section takes all the weight of the motor , fuel tanks, batteries etc, We were lucky we took her off when we did!

Your making me jealous there FR.
I live in suburbia in Sydney. Now a Brush Turkey has for years visits the chickens, chickens are grumpy but good old Bob, which my daughter has named, still persists.
Though now Bob is a bit older it could be a Bobett.
There is a couple of bush turkeys taken up residence in the bottom paddock in the last couple of weeks, just hope the bloody foxs don't get them, although there is also a few Lyre birds running around and the foxs don't seem to get them, I can't say as much for the chickens! I have lost 4 roosters over the last 2 weeks and the fox (a grey coloured one) will not go into the fox trap.
Your bush turkey looks like a female to me Blackfish as she hasn't got the large yellow throat wattle.

What sort of bird is that FR?
He's a male Gang Gang. They are very friendly, I can walk right up to them with a seed tray and they land on it.

Python is he Jeff, what a cheeky buggar.
We had Crows stealing Eggs at our place till the wife made a "Crow Be Gone"
Yes a python, I had his BIG brother here a couple of times and he's as thick as my leg and around 5to 6 meters. Next time he comes for a visit I will get a photo and put up. I had one but my computer crashed and I lost a lot that I hadn't backed up!
