  1. I have tried and tried and tried with soft plastics and Nothing. I guess that one day my luck will change :-)

I hear a lot of people say that!

It's just like bait fishing, the wrong bait or rig at the right place and you will probably end up with zilch!

Wrong plastic size, colour or action and you will get the same result.

Keep trying and I am sure it will all fall into place and you will be landing heaps.

  2. I was watching this unfold off my back veranda, the helicopters, the ses boats and police boats and divers. It made me want to go down and try to help but with all the people who know what they are doing, there is nothing people like me can do, we would only hinder them!

The Lower Portland ramp also has a bad drop off the end and I have seen many cars drop their trailer off the end at low tide. A ute trying to unload a boat off the tray would be asking for trouble!

Too top a bad day off we then heard of the little 12 year old girl not far away at Pitt Town being trampled by a horse she was leading.

2 young lives lost through no fault of their own is so very, very sad.

This has to be a bloody joke... (not questioning you neil).

Shopping bag on the rear seat??????

If the statutes support this then something is very wrong.

What next nets over our door pockets?

    No cover on the ashtray.?

A floor mat not nailed down.?

I think someone is pulling your leg Neil!

Just about every car pulling out of a shopping centre would be illegal if that was law!

  4. It's closed season now, they're all further down stream breeding in the brackish water. Usually they school up and breed where you would normally find Estuary Perch and the Estaury Perch move way further down stream right into the salt.

Closed season on bass is 1st of June for 3 months except in stocked dams
  5. Looks good Leo.

I just purchased a Native Majic 12 and another 12foot 2 man yak so set about sourcing a trailer as they are a pain in the proverbial to load onto the racks on my ute.

I looked at setting a box trailer up like you but went for a 16ft boat trailer instead, it's low to the ground so should work out alright.

I will be adding overhead racks onto it as I will be carting 4 kayaks at times.

  6. If you think they don't take/kill undersize fish or fish that they are not licenced to take try following one of the trawlers and watch as they whack the curved knife into fish and throw over the side to the following sea birds. The ones that have enough life left in them and go down would soon be dead or eaten by other fish either way they don't survive!

  7. Hi Will,

Yes you should get approx. twice the running time under ideal conditions.

A couple of things to watch:

    1. The batteries should have the same amp/hrs, be the same age and the same make.

    2. When connecting your batteries run your positive from the opposite battery to the one going to earth.

  8. A few good days of fishing. Well done. Is the Milson's Island Drift just drifting through the Milsons Passage channel? I've drifted through there a few times but have never picked up anything through there. You target any particular spot around there?

I don't drift there as it's a pretty dead spot for fish. I drift the front of the island.

  9. Good Friday saw my son, 2 grand sons and myself hit Brooklyn ramp at 6am. Apart from 2 dopes parking 2 caravans in the backing bays and other dopes taking 2 trailer spaces with cars and tents off the side (at least 3 idiots) the day was good. Started out catching live bung and hitting at least 8 spots for a catch of Flathead, bream, school Jew and one large green toad(the first one I have ever caught in the Hawkesbury. Unfortunately, all the pictures on my phone will not download.

Fished again today starting out from Spencer. The fog was that thick that somehow we made a stupid mistake and started up Mangrove Creek. The alarm went off and we were in 0 water. Over the side and pushing and shoving we were out and on our way. Not good early in the morning with all the bull sharks that are around at the moment.

We fished the rail bridge for 3 school Jew's, and 1 x 76cm Jew. Then we hit Milsons Island drift and were rewarded with many bream and 1 good flathead. Next was Bar point where we were rewarded with a couple of legal bream and flathead. This time I took the pictures on my camera when we got home.

The Jew went 76cm, flathead 74cm, the biggest bream at 47cm.

  10. Hi Teddy, I run duel batteries in my boats and always have since being stranded and having to wait for a tow. It doesn't matter if you charge your battery every time before going out a battery can die at any time without notice. After charging you can measure it but that can give you a latent charge indication and not a true reading. The small cost of a second battery and switch over is worth every penny.

  11. This answer is too late unless you get it on the phone. With all the colour in the Hawkesbury the best place to fish is in the open mouth and around Ettalong. If fishing Ettalong drift towards the lifesaving club I offen pick up a mixed bag of flathead

whiting and soapies there. If nothing happening there after a couple of drifts move over to the sand flats on the opposite side (watch the waves ) for some big lizards on slab baits. Good luck.

  12. I have good luck catching them in front of the drain which comes out from under the main road.

When you fish from the wharf look to your left and you should be able to see the drain.

Burley up with bread or cooked white rice then I use a dough mix which sinks well and leaves a trail as it does.

When using dough make sure that the hook point is well exposed.

To stop them from taking the dough easily I put a bit of cotton wool in the mix.

  13. Hi Tim,

The holes are for depth control, the further back the deeper your blade will go.

I tie my leader straight to the lure. I find that swivels don't let the blade swim properly.

Watch the hooks as their normally much sharper than other type of lure hooks.

I have found by letting it sink and then a slow retrieve, then sink again to the bottom and a slow retrieve gets good results on bottom feeders.
