Gday all. well my names Joe aka " smokinjoe ", why smokinjoe ? because it was my ring name when i used to fight as an amateur kickboxer. Grew up in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney where ive played rugby league all my life, been in the surf club since i was a nipper lol, competed in boats boards and skis but won my first medal as a beach sprinter lol. Raced the inflattable rescue boats( IRB'S) for many years. Have fished since i was 3. mainly mattons to maroubra, especially Wedding Cake Isl. We fished out of thommos bay. Have now begun the offshore search for tuna and marlin. Jack of all trades Master of a couple lol but always learning, love the water and everything in it. Do a lot of R/C flying love V8's and cant wait to finish restoring my HQ 1Tunna. Not married, dont have any kids that i know of lol. Still live in the eastern suburbs and work for one of the local councils. Reckon this is a great site and cant wait to have a beer and a fish with fellow members. some of you i know but havent revealed myself to you yet lol.

Mahi Mahi,Dorado Maverikos, Dolphin fish, prolific grower lifespan only 3-4 years. May grow up to 5 foot weigh up to 20 - 25kg but these would be exceptional and old, fished worldwide now and use to be a by-catch, seasons vary but if you look worldwide they tend to follow each other in migratory patterns, but as they are prolific in numbers can be caught all year waters from 21-35 degrees, feed on crabs, squid,mackarel and zooplankton depth range up to 80m can swim speed up to 50knot

Bloody Hell what a fish or beast or monster of the deep, congrats. Be interested to know what was in his stomach after it was gutted. What about the size of that things head( not the old fellas ). I wonder if fish could talk what stories he could tell?

Slimies hey who would think they tasted so good lol, tried a whole heap of them yesteday, four different ways, firstly just simply under the griller result not bad . Secondly coated in brown sugar and salted then onto the smoker with a blackbut mix first lot done a little longer than second lot, the lighter smoking was the go although the longer smoke wasnt to bad either. The other two were done to a turkish recipe and they were awesome will get the recipe off the neighbour. Now i have never eaten it before and i was wondering why these old italian and greek blokes were taking them home by the bucket load when they were on, now i know LOL.

I agree a great day for the tin lids, wonder how many are now HOOKED and will be pestering their parents to take em fishin . Just a footnote nearly all baits were lost at the tackle shop as the racks holding them all collapsed, great work by those involved in saving the day before it had started. Bad Karma to the lady giving Tony Grief over it at the shop lol
