G'day Rudi
Yeah the hot water outlet has many strange species.
Suggest you do a site search on lake Mac for past posts, have been many on this subject. Would help you.
Mind you never heard of a M Jack there before, however they have been in Manly lagoon so would not surprise me with the mangroves down that end of the Lake.

Hey Guys.
I know it gets the blood boiling, but I think everybody knows what to do with people like this.
No aggresive action, take notes and they will eventually hang themselves with enough reports and compliants.
Yerros if you know the guys, suggest a pm to offended persons.
They can then take it up with the local Senior Sargent, who will not be so kind to them irrelevent of being SAS or not. I suspect not.
Noted hohoho posts are generally not permitted so do not be surprised if the post is closed. Admins discretion always.
Cheers Guys, and just take notes not bullets!!!!!

Hey Grant
I do have problems with using braid and lures in the wind. As I said very fustrating for me.
Yes I do keep the rod tip low etc etc, but just can't seem to maintain the required action say 50% of the time.
Your learned opinion as to what I might be doing wrong would be appreciated.
(Note no other problems with braid and lures other than in the wind)

Hey Petro
I'll go out of the norm here and say I absolutely hate using braid in the wind,
Either with lures and particularly with bait as I tend to fish with little or no lead most of the times.
It may be just the way I do things but boy doesn't it frustrate me.
Always keep one spool braid and one mono and change over etc etc as need be.
Other fishraiders please enlighten me if its my technique and if you have the problem also, would love to know the solution.

G'day A.dawg
Mate squid are one of the most awesomely aggressive creatures in the sea. Big or small.
Some of the damage I've seen done to my live baits in a matter of moments is to be believed.
Just out of interest for you type in "Humbolt squid" to google.
These sea monsters even attack divers.
And to boot the giant squids in the southern oceans attack whales.
I might be a Pisces but I am damn glad I am not a fish.
Take my chances on the road or a plane anytime.

Hey kinggame.
They are some seriously good kings there, congrates.
Being a fish site, any further stats on the catch method, ie LB or boat, size, line class etc etc.
Always great to see those stats stuff!!

Hey Tip Tip
Very interested in your reply and your work.
Testing of sediments etc etc. ????
I was privy to a lot of the environmental work leading up to the Olypmics with greenpeace and OCA.
I understand that most of your work will be confidential etc etc but any info you can share as to your current studies would be very appreciated by all fishraiders. Probably a stupid question by me as i already know the answer and appreciate your position.
But yes throw us any scraps of info you are able to. It will help all fishraiders to understand where we need to be in the long run to sustain this environment.
I am sort of out of that intense field now, so i just feed on any and all info that I can devour and try to disseminate relevent data to assist others in addressing the problems of our age. And no I am not a bloody greeny I just respect our earth.
Look after our wonderful harbour, you and your like are obviously the next custodians.

G'day Dhutchy.
The whole harbour eat fish thing is loosely based around the dioxin contamination thing.
Probably the most important thing to note is that, if my memory serves me correctly:-
1. Prior to the ban Dioxin levels were measured by Aust Standards and set levels.
2. In general fish east of the gladesville bridge were consistently within these requirements and OK to eat.
3. The government then changed the standards to the American, or possibly also a ISO standard.
4. The fish in the harbour were suddenly and miraculously, the day after the implementation of the changes, unfit to eat as they were over the new standards.
All commercial fishing in the harbour then ceased.
It was some suggest just a different form of fishing license buyback but in a highly accelerated form.
My personal opinion is that it was in fact the above.
Do also note I would not personally touch anything west of the gladesville and all fishraiders should be warned to absolutely NOT eat anything from Homebush bay and from ryde bridge westward. They are highly contaminated with dioxins and other nasties.
GregL suggestion is propably a very good one, but do note dioxins are tasteless and its all about Bio-accumulation.
Therefore a good rule of thumb would be moderation and fish in very good condition only.

G'day Spoz
GregL really hit the nail on the head.
Try to focus on one method. For the more experienced can do either.
Fortunatly I have a few years (old fart me)on the water and can swap according to conditions easily.
When we go out if both a lure and bait option exist for the chosen area we will do that.
By that I mean we concentrate on a chosen form for the first conditions then change to the other form when those conditions do not seem optimal.
Seems to work for us and does expand your opportunites.
Cheers

G'day 007
Arn't the damn good eating at that size!
Have had 2 trips in the last 3 weeks targeting reddies.
All floater and bait jobs in up to 40m with burley trail. Fantastic way to fish!
Scored some really good pan size like you, got 6 and 8 per trip.
Funny thing was a truck load of reddies just a tad under legal.
Came in off Shellhourbour and talked with the coast guard guy and he said everybody is reporting stacks of reddies just under legal.
Hopefully a good sign for the next season.
Will post my report tomorrow. Been slack as usual.
Cheers

Hey fishbones.
Suggest try the smaller squid for the kingies. Even as floaters. (Small bean sinker in a faster current).
Was taught by Paul Rumsey (a Legend) 30 years ago fishing for kingies in B Bay, use only bottle squid! .
We smashed the kingies in B Bay with them before 98% of anglers were targeting them or realised they were there.
Very good days indeed.
Note please do not limit your options, and a bigger squid presented in your known format for your known enviroment will always produce if it has been doing so.
Just a suggestion to think outside the square. And worth a go at something different.
Cheers

G'day all fishraiders.
Going to JB chasing a few reddies and kingies and squid.
Just thought, I have never done any crabbing down there.
Has anybody any info on whether its worth taking the crab traps.
Note also I have checked the protection zones and they are permissable to use.

G'Day Kosta
1. Read Jewgaffers report!!
2. When fishing for brimbo's in the Bay I always use a min 6 foot leader and only 6 pound line. Considered critical.
Lead to suit the tidal run, but as little as possible.
3. Do not ever discount the use of chicken guts in the bay they absolutely love it.
My mates a bream specialist in the bay and he uses it all the time.
Cheers.

This holy hell
Its going to impact the game terribly for all clubs, and I'm a West tigers man.
Need to wait for the fallout over the next few days to see who is responsible.
But yes they are now offically cheats
Shame for the likes of Billy and Inglis, they are awesome players.
Billy S has smashed all before him 2x now in the Rexona challange.
So much for other sports.
Personnaly would like to see the Grand final awarded to the 2nd place getter as they do in the Olymipics.
For those in the Melbourne Storm responsible
In the words of T.S. Elliot in The Wastelands "Consider Phlebas".
I thought that was quite profound and appropriate.
Cheers

PS
Roosterman you have to have a say here!
