  6. Great work gents! Well done browney! Virginity lost... and 4 fish on the tally!!! And Greg.. a true gentleman for taking them out and giving them a taste of Snapper on plastics! If that's 'Ya average day' looking forward to waht an exceptional day looks like! AJ
  7. I wouldn't classify a Stradic as being in the same class as a TD Sol... The TDA's might be worth a look at the price mentioned above..
  8. I usually fish anywhere between 4lb and 8lb leaders on squid... But as others have mentioned, i don;t think they are that fussy/finesse not such an issue... All depends the areas you're fishing for them... if there are just weedbeds, and no rocks about you should be fine.. i've lost a few jigs in the rocks on 8lb... If fishing near the rocks, I wouldn't tie directly to the jig... My two cents.. AJ
  9. Some FAT fish there.. very chunky looking!!! well done.. must be an awesome fight! AJ

  15. 16kg Jewie! I was down there today flicking plastics around the back of the lake.. very quiet indeed.. One hookup to a flattie, but lost him on the first headshake... I dare say just legal if not under..
  16. Well done on the PB mate... healthy Looking fish! AJ
  17. Thanks mate.. yep... still with that glow around the hood... only on the sides though this time... must be the species of squid perhaps??? Not even sure if where i'm fishing is a known 'Jew producer' or not, but i've manged to catch heaps of Yakkas, squid, and garfish from here, and you can se ethat there's a steep drop off... I reckon once i figure the spot out, i'll find a marauding jew around with all the food about... here's hoping anyway... Weather wasn't too bad at all... Waitied for the storm to blow over before heading out.. Once I could see clear skies, and no rain.. proved to be the right decision.. except the westerly... meant i could only really cast in one direction... AJ
  18. Well, after Friday's squid effort ended up on the plate, i decided to try for a jew tonight with the remaining squid head, and a few small strips for some Bream or whatever happened to swim by in the meantime.. Plan was one hour before tonight's high, and 1 hour after. Slow night, not much on.. a lot pinkies about picking away at the baits.. after an hour and a half of no joy, decided to tie on some squid jigs and see if i could score some more.. Blisteringly cold westerly blowing, also making it hard to flick my preferred 1.8 size jig around... I went for the pink 3.25 instead and picked up these 2 squid... Not as big as friday's .. but much more aggressive on the take today? perhaps the fluctuation in air pressure? The first squid to fall... And a smaller model followed soon after...
  19. while fishing off the stones?!?!?!? insanity!
  20. Yes Sir.. indeed very tasty! Some spicy salt, dusted in flower... an straight into the fryer... Add some garlic aioli to the mix.. and what a treat it was... Yeah should definitely get togethe rfor a quick flick some time soon... will bemuch easier with the warmer weather around the corner AJ Yeah, is a bit quiet.. Last time I went for a flick.. smae spot (about 3 weeks ago) managed a donut... A bit odd... ususally catch something even if undersized, and when all else fails, the squid usually come to the party... should start to liven up in the coming weeks... Definitely not the lighting, when I was cleaning ths squid, he had a fluoro strip in the skin layer in the 'glowing areas' you can see on the photo... AJ
  21. Awesome!!! good on you mate! What did you get him on? Looks like a hardbody hanging out of his mouth? You're outfit also looks a little on the light side? a nervous battle?
  22. Just a quick report.. after weeks of no fishing, and that itching feeling coming on, decided to head down for a flick of a few plastics in the harbour.. low expectations, as i missed the high tide (got there at about 10:30pm), and have found the spot to fish best on the last 2 hours of the run up... after about 10 or so casts, not as much as a single touch... wind was also blowing a bit making it difficult to fish plastics effectively.. so decided to tie on a squid jig... on the third cast managed this guy... Despite my best efforts, that was it for the night.. only a 2 hour session, but better than coming home empty handed... i noticed this squiddy, which you can kind of see in the pic, had a nice fluoro marking along the sides, and around the hood near the head. have never seen this on a squid before...
  23. YUMMM!!!! Recently tried smoking some fish after always hearing roberta speak of this... Firm favourites to date have been Bonnies! Been meaning to give trout a run in the smoker too... you've just convinced me it's a must! p.s if you ever need company chasing some bonnies.. i'm just a PM away *winks*
