  1. The nannas are actually the gun bait for big fin. Why don't you use wind on traces instead off shorting them. You'll be cursing when you'll hook up onto a beaky. Hazza
  2. You had a reaper of a session Stafford. Well done. Hazza
  3. R-Zee bad luck on the fin mate It's frustrating when your not getting any but hear of every body else getting 2-10 fin a day. A good friend dropped by the work shop today excited about Sundays efforts. 17 hook ups 8 boated 40-65kg and 3 makos . Most hook ups from the majority of boats came at 3.00pm. My advice would be to head out at 5.00am North/east of browns troll/cube till 10.00am head in close for a rest at the 12mile if nothing is happening ,then head back out there for the arvo session. Big day but somebody has to do it. Hazza
  4. Ben can you clarify for me that 90% of the strength is at the plastic it self or the welded area. What I mean is the weld 90% strong as the adjoining area? I don't think that a plastic weld would be stronger than a alloy weld. The adjoining area that has been heated loses it's strength not the weld. Hope I haven't confused anybody Hazza
  5. NICE boat crow They don't make like they you's to. In my opinion the last of the real Quinnys. Hazza
  6. Go the Tohatsu's. A well build alloy boat would last a long time . If build correctly it would not get corrosion,it would not split. But it would be heaps more expensive than a polycraft. My only question regarding welding cracks on a poly would be. THAT on a aluminium boat the original welded area loses 30% of it's annealed strength, and sometimes double if welded twice. What is the strength rating on plastic welding how much strength to you lose on plastic? Hazza
  7. Another think that I thought of . You can buy of the show room floor a 4.5 plate sided Alycraft ,3mm side and bottom for $4500... That's what I was priced from JD Boat shed. Now to get to 5 metres in length is not that hard . A transom extension could be whiped up for around $1000 . Food for thought I say . That's brand new, also that it would save time in prep,no corrosion(surprise ) It can be predrilled before painting (helps with corrosion) Hazza
  8. Abitfishy you have the right idea. A bare hull is a good start to have. The process is as follows 1)sand alloy down with abrasive paper grid 120-240(if air tools available use the wisar with 240-280) 2)clean the surface with wax and grease remover) 3)If fairing is needed apply resin based bog or high fill(not automotive stuff) 4)using a gravity fed spray gun (or pressure pot)with a 1.8 fluid tip ,apply your primer. 5)After curring(24 hours) sand back with 400grid then 800 grid wet . 6Apply paint with above mentioned guns but must use 1.4 fluid tip. The various application with COB (clear over base) would be to apply base colour 2-3 coats. Then hit it with 3-4 coats with a polyurethane based high solid clear. I cant stress the importance of using polyurethane product in the marine application as it does not have pores in it to allow salt to penatrate. This is my method of applying paint others have there way. Hazza
  9. The cheapest way to go about it and I think the best way is as the pix show it. when fabricating a half cabin the cost of buying allthe alloy and the labour costs would be far greater.(approx $1800-$2500 minus painting) The other way isn't that dear.less alloy less labour ($1000-$1500minus painting) The cost of the wind screen$500-$1000,The price for the canopy$300-$1000 Do I think it's worth it yes . Hazza
  10. Crow from my knowledge spray painters prices vary from shop to shop. A spray job can start from $450-$2000 and beyond. Every job is different ,prep work, paint quality, single colour, two tone, graphics etc. Make some phone call to get an idea. Hazza
  11. It actually looks like Chuck Norris. Hazza
  12. So you guys are telling me that because of one misfortune to a Tohatsu owner, that all of you guys will steer clear from the brand forever? How many people said the same thing with OMC ? They disappeared and reemerged with E-TEC ,every loves Evinrudes now! You guy just follow the herd and don't care if you step on shit along the way. When they bring a new range in the future or offer them at a cant refuse price I can hear all you guys saying ,(not bad this Tohatsu ) This same thing happens to many distributors of many other products that some times there is no solution in situations of warranty. Bad luck Bisso Hazza
  13. Well said Bashir. A platey with no weight at the back turns out to be a dog of a boat in the following . At the end of the day the tanks are running empty the baits and food are gone, And every body is in the steering quarters on the way home. Trim the boat and get the weight at the back. Put the anchor boy at the back. Hazza
  14. Capt pugwash my opinion regarding your decision is, stick with the inboards as you'll devalue your boat by putting outboards . Nobody wants a moorded boat with outboards it's even worse than having legs. Go and do your self a deal with some new diesels . The boat would look terrible with outboards(just my opinion) Diesels King Of The Oceans. Hazza
  15. Well done light weight. nice looking fish. You should be proud of your self. I hope they keep on getting bigger for you. Hazza
  16. It applies mostly to moored boats. But they say always chance the the name out of the water. Hazza
  17. He just doesn't want to say it but I'm predicting he wants to catch it to eat it. Greek dish to do with garlic. Why bother? Hazza
  18. The lures of choice from the top ten where all soft-p. 1inch hawks, bass minnow(watermelon),our baits where Gulp worms Not sure of the name. We when trough 6 packet .Green colours seem to be working good. Hazza
  19. Barnsy you faired well there mate . I fished that comp with Aero (managed seventh ) The harbour is fishing tough at the moment, alot of anglers didn't catch nothing. And good fishermen among them. Hazza
  20. Great effort on the reds Loomy . More fun than bait fishing. Hazza
  21. Trev when applying 2 tone colours to a boat ,first you spray undercoat. You decide where you want the white ( what ever colour you choose) to be applied and spray approx 50mm down from imaginary line. Fine line the area to be sprayed red and sand the over spray down. As for colour bleaching it happens when spraying lite colours over dark colours. I'm sure that also happens to metallic and pearls or when spraying graphics where layer upon layer are applied. Hazza
  22. Mate I'll answer that as I don't think Soapie would have a clue. Women and fashion maybe. The paint is Protec 2 pack polyurethane a strong paint for the Marine environment. The colour is Waratah red. Sprayed from a gravity fed gun with a 1.4 tip would get you a nice finish. As for the labour involved approx 7 days(painting takes a while to dry ) Hazza
