  1. We head up to Weipa in 3 weeks so report could be very interesting but I think I might be traveling are you on a house boat charter or whatever Bruce
  2. NOT AN EASTER HAT IN SIGHT. Nice mix of fish. bruce
  3. Hi Dave Couple of nice flatties. I must be fishing on the wrong side of the boat lately can't seem to get any flatties in the Hacking. Did get 1 legal reddie near the deeper water at lilli pilli on sat morning but had already cut it up when I took the photo. Bruce
  4. Hi Luke Couple of nice crabs. I find I do best for crabs in shallow water near weed beds fishing the rising tide. Late afternoon seems best and a couple of smelly fish heads hanging over the side seem to help. bruce
  5. Kept the belly flaps from dolphin fish I caught also makes good strip bait for offshore bottom bouncing
  6. Went out yesterday morning in the hacking fished the flats found the fish quiet but crabs made up for the fish. All fish and crabs caught on lightly weighted 1kg outfits.
  7. You put in the time and covered the distance, the dollies were a good reward. Only need a few to make a trip worthwhile they go hard and are an exciting fight especially if you use light gear. bruce
  8. At least you got out I'm stuck at home painting. I don't mind fresh mullet and nothing wrong with the flattie. I'll let the weather stir them up a bit and head out in the river fri. Think it might be overcast with a few bits of chop . bruce
  9. Crabs were on line. Don't think you are allowed to use crab nets/traps in Port Hacking
  10. Had a few live podies from fri and then just pillies worked ok even with a slow troll.
  11. Fished Lilli Pilli sand flat on fri had hoped to fish the Fad but opted for the comfort of the river. Pumped nippers and fished the nipper beds for not much result. Moved to Lilli Pilli and fished hard in about a dozen spots managed 4 bream 30-35 cm, a 30 cm whiting and 3 blue swimmers. Decided the FAD would be too busy on the weekend so picked mon for a FAD trip. Headed out to Port Hacking FAD Monday morning, solo as my crew pulled the pin late on sunday. Also had son going out in his boat for company. Had a bit of live bait in the boat so went straight out. First 3 live baits got hammered but no hook up. Tried a pillie next for a nice 85cm dollie. Switched between live bait and pillies and landed 5 dollies over next 2 hrs things were a little sluggish. Saw a couple of boats come and leave without a fish. Best two took a good 10 mins each to land especially a 1m fish. They really perform next to the boat when your solo. On the way back in stopped for a quick flattie drift as my wife doesn't like eating dollies. Bag of 10 in 40 mins. Repaid a few people for favours and the neighbours for early morning noise plus plenty of fish to eat. bruce
  12. Saw you fishing as I went past just after 6 yesterday, didn't want to spook the fish so left you in peace. Went out chasing dollies and flaties. very nice tailor
  13. Good result for Callala beach I have always found it very quiet and usually a lot of weed. The little breakwall at Myola can fish well particularly at night give it a try. bruce
  14. An early morning fish is always a good way to start the day, and a keeper fish is a bonus bruce
  15. A good result for the hacking on an Australia Day holiday. Amazing how a fish with a hook and line in its mouth will still take another bait.
  16. Took two of the grandkids for a late afternoon fish in port hacking yesterday. Started off with pumping nippers at main bar then fished the flats there, buraneer bay area and eventually lilli pllli flats. Used unweighted nippers on 2kg outfits and fished shallow water. Where ever we are we would throw out a crab line surprised at the number we came across 6 year old caught the best fish of the day a 53cm trevally in very shallow water walking lilli pllli sand flat. We then moved out to the deeper wateto try and catch some of yowie's fish and the 6 yo caught a 43cm trevally on a floating nipper. Ended up with a nice catch and when we got back to the ramp the kids grabbed the rods to keep fishing to the last minute.
  17. I tried the deep water over closer to the church camps than lilli pllli only decent fish was a 43cm trevally for my grandson. Need to spend a bit more time fishing the deeper water. Another tasty feed of fish for you.
  18. You put in a good effort and a good report. I pulled the pin early I did a trip on Sunday from Port Hacking. Intended going to the south fad but too many boats heading out so did a lap out then south then back in near Marley. Result 1 only 50 cm dollie in 100 m of water No kings not much at all. Back in the queue at the ramp by 1030 Water never looked good. Who caught fish? Three donut reports so far.
  19. when the bream seems to be fighting hard for its size usually turns out to be a moses. The number in the Macleay seems to be up this year also, we not only caught them on lure and bait, we managed a 28cm model on the bait jig while catching herring. Once they get over the 25cms they have a couple of tasty nice fat fillets on them.
  20. I had a look at fish rock when I was up at swr too many boats divers and activity for my liking so went for a troll. One of the local pros trolling for mack tuna at the rock told me he was only landing just over half what he hooked the sharks took the rest. Nice haul of dollies (off the traps or the fad) the 15gm metal slugs work great on light outfits, a fast sinking fly works very well also. Hope the current picks up as this will really turn them on. bruce
  21. Hi Dave Nice to see someone braved the elements and got a good catch for their effort. Years ago I used to cold smoke the tailor and they came up very nice. Tempted to try it again but I would have to catch the tailor first. I thought the southerly would have died down by today and had planned a offshore trip but pulled the pin and worked on the rebuilding the back patio. Plan is now to head offshore Friday. (or if grandkids get in the way go very early sat). Bruce
  22. Wasn't many mackerel etc coming in from outside. A few marlin were being seen not many caught from what I could tell. Whiting, bream and some flatties on nippers. Also used live herring and soft plastics for flatties and perch. My grandson cast a SP for 3 hours 1 day for a throwback whiting and flattie and finally his hard work was rewarded with a 47 cm flattie. The grand kids eat nearly as many fish as they catch. Had fish 4 nights in a row then they had a break, sausages was there choice for tea. All fish were caught using lightweight 2kg mono outfits in water less than 50cm deep.(except perch on bait jig while catching herring) Bruce
  23. Quick report spent the last 5 days up here with son and grandkids Fishing was slow in the river till we found the fish. Had some good catches between us. Flatties whiting beam and moses perch. Released flathead including a 78cm fish Good fun fishing Bruce
