  2. Anzac Day falls on a Friday this year so there are now 2 good reasons to be up before Dawn on April 25th. Attend the Dawn Service Then go Fishing We will ge heading back to Greenwell Point and chasing the fish. Weather permitting we will be heading to the Banks and chasing some Kings. (We dont have a down rigger) I have been reading on Fishraider many of the methods each of you use and will be giving them a go were possible. If any one has any suggestions on other methods it will be appreciated. Allen (Chewsta) you looked like you were trolling either livies or lures last week in the area, any chance of a pointer. Regards David
  3. Getting better for reference Telefast tablets work well SOOV gel is not bad VERY hot shower lasted for an hour or so Thanks for asking
  4. No we were at Crookhaven Drive next to the Park
  5. Im not a marine mechanic but as a car mechanic I would be considering the possibility of Vapor Lock or flodding. Can you smell fuel Vapor lock can occurr after running an engine hard and then shutting it down for 10 to 20 min and the heat boils the fule in the carby. Solution Prime the engine with care or you will flood it. Flodding can occurr when access fuel floods the engine making it hard to start as its too rich. Open the throttle wide open DO NOT PRIME and try to start. Be prepared to throttle back so you dont reve the guts out of the motor. It bay cough and splutter before it gets going.
  6. following the responses in these ichy bites i can confirm its not the pox, Measles or Chicken Pox. There are a couple on the arms but mainly below the knee. Therfore they are either sand flies as I was getting bitten at one end of the wharf. But before that we spent some time in the water at low tide at the ramp (Launching Boats etc) with the Pelicans. So its Pelican Itch or Sandflies or a combination of both
  7. Dont worry we also own one of those boats that dont catch manyfish. When a Hammerhead circles the livey and another boat with 100 ft hooks up on a Marlin the fish are there. I just need then to understand MY BOAT Stupid fish
  8. Tried treating the Bites with Beer and it did not matter how many i had it did not help, so tried Red Wine and Scotch, same result. (Hedache) Kids had a great time and we saw the chemist for Antihestime tablets and Gel. (Works well) I will give the lavender a go as some of our group got nailed (ME) and others only got a couple.
  9. What a great place easy access to the ocean and estuary with lots of great spots to try and with JB just around the corner we were ready. We arrived Thursday afternoon to find the local fisherman fishing at the reserve next to our house and a couple more setting up bait traps at our back door. On closer inspection we also found plenty of nippers and schools of bait fish just feet from the shore. Unbelievable all the bait we need at our back door. Nippers were easy but the bait fish were too smart, so with a prawn net and light with no idea we went prawning, caught 3. Yes we now know that prawning is on an outgowning tide DOH. Well Easter weather was as per normal with Friday and Saturday conditions poor so no fun but a couple of fish. Saturday afternoon we hit the local wharf and caught the livey's we needed in anticapation for a good day. Sunday we planned to get up early (did not happen) boats in the water at 8.30am spectacular conditions we headed for Nowra Hill, Slimies for more bait then headed off to The Banks. WHAT A SPOT!!! The kids had a geat time with fish everywhere in clear water (Sweep) an hour later a boat 100 ft away is onto a marlin thet decides to swim around the boats so a quick move was needed as it jumped within 50 ft from the boat. Then a Hammerhead shark starts working the area around the boats. With a seal nearby taking a sun tan we headed for the shallows for chasing a flatty. Total for the weekend 1 snapper, 3 Flatty's, slimies and yakkas for bait. We had a geat time at Greenwell Point and will be back soon but the Sea Lice (We think) nailed me and the rest of our group. Any suggestions on how to avoid the dots
  10. NSW Maritime have all their maps on their website. You can download them but they are a secure PDF so you wont be able to print them using normal software.
  11. Being fairly new to Fishing we planned an Easter Fishing Trip. This included 2 other families and booking a house at Greenwell Point. We expexted it to be a little busy as it is Easter afterall. Well we have just noticed the local club has an Easter Fishing Carnval. Link Below http://www.greenwellpointbowlingclub.com.a...ay_fishing.html This will probably ensure plenty of people participating in the Easter Migration to Greenwell Point. Fisherboy has just gone nutts as he believes that entering the competition will improve his chances of good fish. Having not been involved in a Fishing comp before what are the unwritten rules or any tips will be appreciated Are any other Raiders participating in the comp.
  12. Thanks for the tip. Being new to fishing items like your video make it easier

  15. Planning on chasing a Kingfish on Saturday in the Harbour. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Planning to throw some fresh squid around, Trolling Lures and Yakkas maybe.
  16. On Friday evening we decided to put theboat back in to Port Hacking. The plan was a quiet evening and go whiting chasing early Saturday. Once we moored up we decided to wet some lines. 2 Beers into it a squid followed in a small bream looking for an easy feed. Threw out the squid lure and he made for some fresh bait. Later that night the rod started to twitch and with a bit of a wind up the fish took a short run, felt bigger than the small bream we had been picking up. Wound it in and as soon as it saw out tourch light it took off again. 10 mins later it arrived into the net and I had my first 41.5 cm whiting weighing just short of 0.6 KG. The next day the wind came up and we gave up early. Next week we are off to Sydney Harbour, maybe we can find a King Fish. Any suggested spots will be appreciated as its our first time
  17. Yep Thats it I trust you have Dual batteries as it draws around 10 amp. We have not had an issue yet but we do have a dual battery system because one day we will

  20. I like the diagram and with 5 non fishing days left in the week I have plenty of time to work it out. Can someone explain explain the "Poormans Downrigger" Thanks David
  21. Thankyou for you great suggestions on whiting Jewgaffer and everyone who posted a reply to Whiting. Took the Fresh is best approach and went for it. Friday evening pumped fresh nippers in Hacking and then landed some live yakkas while enjoying a beer. Well full armed with live nippers, light gear we were in all the wrong spots, we even offered live nippers to the little bream near the rocks off Yowie and nothing. Went home with Live Yakkas in the tank ready for another day With all the talk about the Kingies in Botany we decided to go for it. 5am hit the water, off to the markers trying to get snapped off by a kingie. Wife ended up getting bored as we drowned the yakkas and started throwing out squid, worms, Pillies, anything. I dont believe this is a Kingie but it will be a great dinner for her. (30cm Flounder) Back out there soon David (AKA fisherdad) slinkymalinky, My fisher buddy is 14 and yes he is fisherboy, loves fishing and loves talking about it, lots. Only problem is there are 5 days to interupt the fishing each week David

    Whiting

since purchasing our boat we have fed many fish in and around Sydney. We look forward to the day when our practice pays off on a regular basis. A big Kingfish will be a a good day we plan on chasing them in the next week or so in Botany Bay. Lilly Pilly Flats was our best day when we bagged 5 of the tastiest Whiting, we thought our luck had changed for good. Since then we have gone back with the same approach and everything else we could throw at it. There are that many fish that you can usually see them but they dont always bite. I would be happy for suggestions on improving the catch and other spots to try David (AKA Fisherdad)
