  3. Fished good old Botany Bay today in search of a few kingfish , with all the reports it was decided a friday fish was on the cards .... Picked up some livies and had a look at all the general kingfish haunts , Towed livies around for what felt like hours when the Rod buckled and the reel started screaming . Now i was glad i choose the saragoosa reel and bluerose rod combo with 80lb line this morning as im sure this fish would have busted me off . Well luck was on my side and a 10 kg king was in the boat . Sadly it was the only fish for the day..... Cheers Dogtooth .... John...

  13. The lure was a Squidgy wriggler in 140 mm size silver and black , 3/8 jig head looks a lot like a mullet . The Motor is almost run in and i dont think its the motor thats the good omen , its the boat that attracts the fish .... Cheers Dogtooth.... John
  14. Hi Raiders , Went bottom bashing on windy sunday at Sydney Harbour Heads . Conditions made it hard but we ended up with a top feed of flathead , but the bonus was casting lures for salmon and were there some fish . Now it can be a bit wild with huge salmon boils around a charter boat and 10 anglers casting lures trying to give each other earings . But no injuries occured and some top salmon landed all on 4 inch metals . Later when we gutted some of the salmon whole 5 inch yellowtail and small pilchards were in there stomachs . So large lures were the go. Most unusal catch was a 2.5kg Leatherjacket went 62cm . . Good to see only 3 leatherjackets Caught. Cheers Dogtooth .....John 2.5 kg leatherjacket by J J
  15. Hi Raiders, Sorry for the late report but it looks as thou the jewfish season may fire up in the Georges river this year. Well i decided to take my boat for a run out of flower power ramp millpera , the plan was to run in my new 50 hp motor purchased at the boat show so finished work at 2pm sun was shineing but the wind was howling . Chucked two rods in the boat and picked up a mate , motored up the river towards como bridge at various speeds and said to my mate lets have a fish here . He then grabs one of the rods and asks what bait were using i said lures ( soft plastics ) . So i tied one on for him and myself and we begun casting . He then began to ask if you catch fish on these i said sometimes . Well low and behold 2nd cast and im on a few screaming runs and im calling it a big flathead , a few minutes pass and my 10lb leader is back on the spool and up comes a little jew . A quick photo then slip him in the esky . My mate is now hooked on soft plastics after seeing me catch a jew . Well im glad i now have my first jew on soft plastics .. Cheers Dogtooth John.....

  22. Hi Caine. It is a TEN 10 pin plug ... Read my earlier post the transducer is made by Airmar . It has all the specs and order codes . . The 525ST-PWD calls it a Triducer temp , sonar , The S stands for speed while the 525T-PWD is called a transducer Just temp and Sonar as mentioned below you can buy just the temp and sonar one and add the speed kit , paddle wheel later , the kit numbers are metioned below . Hope this helps...1fishing1: My install almost finished pics soon..... Cheers John.. Hi There caine, I just purchased the 620 furuno myself and ended up with an airmar transducer 50 / 200khz with depth and temp . The part number is 31-470-4-03 and is a p66 housing . Now the speed sensor kit that bolts to this housing is 33-346-03 but i figured they are never accurate and my GPS does a better job . Hope this helps i am halfway through my install and cant wait to test her out. Will post a few pics when finished as i am installing it on a drop down transom bracket. Cheers Dogtooth John.

  24. Hi wigg, I have one of these units that i bought in oz , but to get the full potential of this unit you need to buy the bluewater cd , price around $ 250 dollars . i would give garmin a ring because for this cd to work you have to register your gps unit and download info onto a memory card . Make sure you have a day spare because you will need the garmin phone support while you do this as it is a bit complicated. But as far as chartplotter goes it is a top unit and you can use it from boat to boat.. Hope this helps Dogtooth John.
