  3. geez champ by the looks of the fridge i think your lucky you did catch some nice eaters there looks like you eat again nah nothing better than fishing with your son and always puts a smile on my face haveing my son out fishing no matter what the fish end up doing
  4. yeh we send the fish thru the local fish co-op where we tag and box them and then they are put on a truck to go down to the sydney markets and get sold thru there professional fishos can also sell x amount ok kg of fish to the loacal restrunt and the such but then for the amount it is hardly worth it it is intresting fishing with the professionals and doing so opens your eyes so you can see they mainly are like every other fisho and they respect the fish as much as the next person after all fishing is more than fun for them it is a lifestyle they sure do not take everything and rip the guts out of every fishing spot
  5. my normal crew and myself were working this satuerday so we missed the first of the summer game fishing comps for Solitary Islands GFC thems the brakes but money is what keeps the gamefishing grear turning  so we decided to take my mates Pro fishing boat out off the mid north coast here and try for some kingfish jigging (little spot we know does hold some nice ones in about 180m) first try and we get a double of nice school kings of about 6kg each (80cm ish) next two drops i miss the fish and we only pull one more up and this has us wondering , so we sound around trying to find the kings on the sounder and when we do we find them in a nice tight school we reset the boat and drop the lines (some time later) the lines get down and i jig mine up for nothing first time while my mates son tell me to go back down as his one he hooked up to was down near the bottom, I flick the lever and nothing happing 'oh' i think to myself 'a kingie has grabed it just as i tryed to drop it back down' so i give the handle a few quick turns to set the hook but this does not feel like a king no big head shakes just a lot of little fast ones as pump and wind the fish up for a bit then the line starts to go slack and this has me thinking i dropped the fish but i keep winding and come tight again. This happins a while in the fight no drag getting taken off me fast little head shakes and the fish is swimming up with me, i say to skipper that i don't know what kind of fish i have but do not think it is a king! we get coulor and all i see is two big pec fins and this has me calling out for a shark as all i could see was the pecs, next thing this thing is under the boat and low and behold it is a stripe marlin of about 70kgs this has us worried #1 we are on the pro boat so no tags #2 i'm useing braid for the kinfe jigging so no need for a tag anyway #3 HOLY S%%T this is a frigging nice stripe marlin on a knife jig #4 my knife jigging gear is only 80lb braid and 100lb leader #5 the marlin has not done anything in the fight yet so it is green still! the fish swims past us and now it is at the surface it decideds to have a jump and on the second jump it happins the leader pops takeing the knife jig with it (no dout it would of fallen out very soon aferwards) as this was going on my mates son was still up the frount trying to deal with is stubborn king when while looking at my busted line i hear them ask 'it has gone under the boat can you see it on your side?' thats when i look up to see yet another stripe marlin jumpping for joy on the surface. That had me calling out "MARLIN!" now by this time this one was close to the motor so we put the girl in full reverse and cleared the line to the other side with the marlin still jumping we settle down and back down on the fish for a bit getting it almost boat side when next thing! NOPE your wrong it didn't brake us off! out pops the kingfish from the marlins mouth with that we get the kingfish back to the boat relitvle unmarked and see our second marlin swim off for a 2-2-0 on stripe marlin whiole knife jigging kingfish day ended good too i'm a tad sore but got paid one kingfish and we sent 5 fish boxes of kingfish to market funny enoght this is these are the second and third marlin we know of at this spot that have taken knifejigs
  6. i have the standard elite5 mine being the combo and i really like it easy to use and good pic for the price point
  7. i agree back to the last place it was sent my soron stx40 i'v had for some three years now and even the other day after not useing the thing for over 8months it still felt as good as new and i have done nothing more to mine apart from giveing it a wash now and again

  9. tinaroo is a impoundment dam with fish being stocked in there each year a fish that size would not be that good on the chew and some resurch is showing that the removal of these big fish to be for the better helth of the dam as big girls like this while near the end of their lives will and can eat more baby fish great catch well worth a mold being made
  10. yep voteing #1 Shooter's and Fishers Party for legislative council and if youe look at their policys they are not half bad http://www.shootersandfishers.org.au/files/3/2824941773/position-statement---society-and-service-delivery-version-3rd-february-2011-.pdf vote for whos best for your loacal area for sure but why not give our passion a voice
  11. yeh nice catch spun out about his fin but something you don't see in sharks all that often is a split fin like that nothing like a freash feed of flake enjoy it
  12. good fish champ and sounds like a cracker day hope you keep the trend going yeh it is a nice wahoo not the biggest but still one most would be proud of that mahi mahi looks skinny but still you have to love them in the water and the coulors they put on as for the marlin i would not be supprised at all if the was a little Black marlin but is hard to tell from that one pic http://www.solitaryislandsgamefishingclub.com/the-fish-we-chase.html
  13. i don't know the sounder so it could be a few things check things like the range for your upper and lower limits check what freq the sounder is running at check transduer angle and position they would be the main ones but without knowing the sounder there could be other setting too that you can check
  14. any trailer can be a drive on drive off trailer what really makes it one it the set-up and the driver of the boat
  15. left the bungs out? check and check left the rear tie downs on? check had a mate tell me how his trailer is so sticky so take everything off and sink the trailer pretty deep and only have ot roll straght off onto the concreat ramp? check take the boat down to the ramp get it ready and lurch only to have the missus ask if i had the keys and i didn't? Check try to pull start one of my boat only to relise after a good 15mins i didn't have the kill switch pluged in? check lucky for me this all has happind over a fair few years and a few diffrent boats putting them all together thou sure makes me look bad
