Thanks Welster. It was so good to get out after so long. Yes the garden is looking greener than ever after all the extra time it's being given !!!

Ps. I hope you managed to find a few?

Hi Sam, We didn't try for snapper just a feed.   I was a bit hesitant to post it up.

  2. What a cracking session Sam it's great when a plan comes together.  You have the perfect spot to bbq some fish for lunch at work.

I also succumbed to the temptation yesterday and headed out from the Hacking with my dad to catch a feed.

  3. Welcome To the site APM.  That's so cool turning your hobby into a job.  What type of Motorsport are you into?

I mostly fish from a boat so I can't help much.  Maybe starting with catching bait would be good. Squidding bear bear island, yakkas near any structure,  Nippers maybe at  Mainbar and fish the flats.

I think land based I'd set myself up to fish the structured areas like the Groynes for example or maybe walk the beaches flicking plastics.  Target one species at a time.

As the water cools fishing will get a bit tougher in the estuaries the numbers drop away but the quality often improves. The fish are a less aggressive.  Blackfish are a good winter species and probably trevally.

  4. Fishing outside for flatties I use a paternoster rig, usually fish strips or squid for bait as pillies disappear quick.

Generally you will get bites as soon as you hit bottom but the size is often small.   I keep moving around to I find a patch of keepers and mark the spot on the sounder.   I repeat that drift.  I'd start in 30 metres, move to 40metres and than 50 or the opposite if I was coming back in from out wide.

On future trips I will usually go to one of the old marks and move on from there.

I said there were no bust ups yesterday, but I do now remember a few near the boat, only briefly. Appeared to be small frigates, only small ones. No sign of bonnies when I was there. They probably turned up after I up-anchored and moved.

I think it would of been around lunch time.

Yes, Neil, and I’m lucky I still have a job! Not so lucky I have lost $80k off my super so far though! Looks like retirement will have to be deferred and I’ll have to ride it out! I reckon we’ll be in total lockdown by Monday...

I think that is pretty likely for Sydney or NSW.   The measures taken do appear to be slowing the spread but it would take a week to know if it's enough, I don't think that's a game we need to be playing.

  7. I noticed the council has closed the ramps at Port Stephens.

I get it that you can't have to many except fors in a shut down.   It is a bit frustrating that we will have plenty of time and I could take my boat out solo with bait from my bait freezer and I have ample fuel for at least 6 trips or 2 out wider.
