thank you for the advice , i will do as you said , out doors  under a metal  roof , just a quick question about  respirators etc, wonder if you know if these  p2 filters  are suitable  for melting lead , could not find information, this is the  tipe ive got at home with a half mask Protector P2 Particulate Respirator Filter

My Sundstrom brand mask has a throw away prefilter, that fits onto the particle cartridge that can also be fitted to the gas cartridge.    I'd guess the gas cartridge would be the go.   It has been a while since I have used a gas one.

Noel. These boats were made with aircraft precision , being made by a aircraft company they were built to withstand the worst of conditions.

Many readers won't believe what I am about to type here.

The way they used to test these boats besides normal water testing in pretty rough conditions is they used Yarra bay in Botany bay for added water pressure tests. They suspended the boat harnessed under a helicopter which hovered approx 60 to 80 feet above the water , Water police stopped all boat traffic in Yarra bay and they released the boat and let it drop and crash into the water. It was that perfectly balanced that the boat landed flat on it's hull , didn't hit nose first just dead flat, they then recover the harness with trained crew and repeated this exercise so that the boat had been dropped from quiet a height onto the water, you can imagine the impact and the stress that would be placed on the rivets etc. They would then take the boat back to the factory and examine it for any structural damage.

No other boat manufacturer went to this sort of level to ensure their boats were the toughest thing that could be bought.

Clark boats came close but after a number of years the Clarks rivets etc begun to show signs of loosening.

I think I have a showroom quality boat that should never be subjected to the treatment it will receive in the future.

You reminded me of these Triumph boat (USA) tests.

  3. We might not of caught much but I really enjoyed you skippering us around that day.    Well maybe not so much that bit where my rod was broken before the first cast 🤣. You really sped up the learning curve which will be put to use on future trips and I got my first soft plastic snapper.

I thought about changing tactics and going deeper on the follow up trip but we decided to persist as that was the aim of the trip and you never know.  Hopefully we get out again some time.

  4. The last time I used it was a couple of years ago.   It was pretty easy to use with a pontoon beside it.  The jet skis buzzing the back of people trying to load their boats were a pest.

When I look at the water there it's hard to fathom why I use to water ski there so often 🤮.    Also be aware we have found needles there in the past.

I'm listening to the fishing report on 2SM right now & Matt from Salamander B&T in PS reckons snapper to 5kg are being caught off Broughton with SP's & smaller ones off little island.

Plenty being caught was his exact words!

I sometimes think these reports on radio are just there to get people & money into the area :whistling:

I didn't find any today that's for sure.

Seeing that snapper of around 46cm reminded me of this I saw on Facebook this week.

That came up on my Facebook feed this morning and I thought the same.   I was pretty surprised it to that long to grow.  I know bream are slow growers but my guess would be that a 20 year plus snapper would be way bigger.    Thanks for sharing it, I always find that stuff interesting.

A hard earned fish is even more appreciated imo.

    Congratulations.

    Your a ledge scratchie 👍

Thanks. Scratchie really put in a solid effort trying to find them whilst showing us around.

Glad you got one to top of the day Jason👍
Awesome effort Scratchie to give up your time and share your experience 👍

... and another 👍 for being top raiders

    cheers Zoran

It made for a nice lunch the following day. I ended up using Scratchie's spare rod as mine was broken before the first cast.

    Pleasure to meet you @Welster
The conditions on the day could not have been better but the fishing has been disgraceful. I’ve warned everyone that’s been up here lately that the fishing has been poor. Nothing I can do about that. No current, no bait, no drift and visibility to 20m is not conducive for chasing snapper.
Although mate, you just kept casting and came up tight. Good to see it on the mat. I may have had an educated guess at 48cm lol 😝

    Thanks for having me onboard!

    cheers scratchie!!!

You were spot on with the size!
