  1. thanks guys......i can find them in the harbour no probs so hopefully my luck will continue in new waters. matt.
  2. mate i have a 4m tinny and use a 55lb watersnake. cost me $300 and it does that job great. i would def get a deep cycle battery to run everything. - a 1m 360 stern light cost me $60. wiring doesnt cost much at all. i would def say just mount the nav lights permanently as then u dont have to worry about them ever again. after owning ur own boat for a while i reckon most people start going whenever they can so u will be able to go at night without worrying.
  3. anyone know if squid can be found anywhere near jerusalam bay? i am staying on a friends yacht and will only have a little tender to go search for them. i dont need anyone to give up exact locations, just want to know if they are there.
  4. yeah i those guys on the bridge really drove me mad. in the past i have called the cops as once they hooked a rod on my boat and it snapped whilst i was passing under.
  5. mate id be stoked with a king that size for only being on the water 4hrs!!!!
  6. my brother and i bagged out on squid fri nite in the harbour. sat morning couldnt find any fish in the harbour so headed outside around the heads and numerous hook ups on rat kings but they kept reefing us and we only boated one. wind got up and we had to run for cover as only in a small tinnie.
  7. mate i would def use something like an kitchen cutting board. i mounted my transducer to my tinny - seemed straight forward but ended up too low (doesnt work over 5knots cause off wash hull) so now cant move it without leaving 2 holes in boat. i sealed mine with normal silicant and havent had a problem in 18months. boat isnt stored in direct sunlight so the sun cant really affect it.
  8. great job mate.....i basically did the same thing last season on mine and i love it. the underfloor storage is awesome seeing as storage in a tinny is non existent. any chance of a photo of how u mounted the elec motor to the front grab rail? i plan on something similar in the following weeks.
  9. haha u def never want to see a pj on the end of the line but at least it makes for a bit of fun.
  10. the new setup looks great. i would def agree that i spend almost as much time changing little things to my boat setup as i do fishing.
  11. mate can u give us a bit more info? what'd u use to make it? how long did it take? cost? most importantly did it work?
  12. Dave nice work again mate. I'd be letting brent know that if it wasnt for you positioning the boat "just right" and having previously caught squid, then he would have no chance of out fishing you.
  13. nice effort guys. i found it pretty cold on sat nite/sun morning on the water so you should be happy you went home to bed.
  14. yeah keeps us informed mate......im keen to know how it all works out.
  15. welcome to the site mate.....glad to hear the kings are hanging around out there.
  16. there's going to be no room in the freezer for anything else after its filled with all those flatty fillets!!! looks like an awesome day out....perfect weather and big feed.
  17. that southern on the esky is HUGE!!
  18. i definately find them easier to catch in winter......prob cause there's not as many ppl hunting for them!
  19. mate that is truly inspirational. its gotta suck that they're shutting the spot down. were they all caught on plastics/stickbaits?
  20. congrats mate. new boat + kingie = woohoo pretty sure u were right near me ? i would of been the guy in the tinnie with rods everywhere.....
