  1. Hi we often stay at shoal bay, there is a beach ramp there if your boats not to big? I could launch a 485 brooker with a 4wd no problems and its pretty quiet, otherwise little beach has a great ramp, with cleaning facilities aect, but it does get a bit crowded. Last time i was up i took the kids to just inside Nelson bay light house and got a couple little of under sized and one just legal snapper ( all went back but great fun for my 3 and 5 year olds). Guys always seem to get whiting just off the sand banks out in the middle of the bay as well. Have fun. Luke

    The peak

Hi all, even the best laid plans some times don't work out. Got up so 5 and headed to the ramp, by 7 had filled the live tank, down rigged a yacca and trawled skirts around the oil wharf / drums, nothing so we set off to the peak, hoping to break my jigging virginity. But after 45 min sounding I couldn't locate any kings, Did 4 drifts bottom bashing and jigging but couldn't hold bottom. Only one other boat out, headed back around 11 On the way back in the heads we got stopped by fisheries, FANTASTIC to see, only the 2nd time I've ever been checked. Through some S.Ps in Yarra bay for 3-4 drifts and headed home for lunch. Hopefully some one else had more luck, was my 1st trip to the peak, so that's one positive I suppose. Cheers Luke
  3. Hi All, "was" heading out to the peak on Thursday with my dad (managed to squeeze in an extra day onto my leave ),but ill check the forecast, seem to be getting windy I'm only relatively new to fishing wide as such. I recently up graded from a 485 Broker C/C to a 5.5 cox craft and have been trialling the boat/ fuel required ect and getting used to the boat for the last 6 mths, trips to the humps ect. My plan is the peak a few times, 12 mile, then browns. Obviously in a 5.5 the weather will ultimately determine if i head out or not on any given day. Anyway, I’ve got some new jigs and am hoping to get some kingies. a couple of questions, is any one heading out on Thursday? what should i be looking for on the sounder, (fish arches i know ) but whats the bottom like their? i have the marks from this forum but generally i have to search around a bit to find the spot, is it a gravel bed like the humps or just a rise in the sea bed? Also should drop some baits for a bottom bash whilst jigging? is their usually anything down their? or should I send out a trail of cubes hoping for something special!!! cheers Luke Any Pm's would also be appreciated.
  4. And that they were on sale...

  8. Hi Nate, firstly let me wish you a speedy recovery, you should rest up, I can search the net. I think if the resorts blackwatch is up and running ill try to pre book that (might get a few hrs more fishing rather than traveling) but if its out of action ill pretty much travel anywhere i need to to get a start could be in the bad books with the Mrs though... cheers Luke

  10. Hi raiders, I'm taking the family on a holiday to Fiji in a few weeks and wanted to see if anyone could recommend a charter company for a day ( single) game fishing, I think the resorts should have some contacts but last time I was their ( my honeymoon 7 years ago) I couldn't line it up, don't want that to happen again ... We'll be staying on the main land, the shangrala Hopefully I'll get something worthy of a report Cheers Luke
  11. Awesome king, payes in dream fish to keep your eyes peeled on the trip out, hopefully I'll get to make a post like that one of these days... Luke
  12. Tie up to any of the public moorings out of the wind and give the Kids plenty of chicken pellets to burley up with. Keeps my Kids amused while not bringing if fish ( usually small brim) other wise set them up with some SP's that also keeps them busy and could land a nice flattie off the channles Cheers Luke
  13. Awesome report Awesome fish More awesome hump on that snapper... Well done Luke

  17. Hay Raders, 1st post for me but im loving the site so far... Ive recently upgraded my boat to something that can get me out (and back ) in a bit more comfort so i look forward to posting some good fish soon! Im looking to take the old man out the humps on sunday to chase some snapper. Any thoughts on cubing up while out their? or is it a waste of bait / time??? also the marks i have for the hump's seem a bit off, last time i was out i couldent really find any structure, there was 4 / 5 boats out though... I'm told that it comes up from about 50 meters to 35? is that the what i should be searching for? cheers Luke
