  1. Guy's This is all good stuff but cannot help but get the feeling we are preaching to the converted all be it with a small overflow into Goverment circles. All this needs to reach " the man in the street". It is perhaps fair to say it has , in those coastal town directly effected by Marine Parks. Any one have a few spare million $$$ for advertising in the lead up to the election. The was one inexpensive method promoted on radio , A bumper sticker. Perhaps we could come up with our own , something like , Let our Kids fish , no to santuary zones . or Reduce bag limits , not increase Santuary zones. I'm sure you can think of many more Geoff
  2. Ken , Moderators , trust it is OK to post this web site Geoff http://www.fishnitis.com/fishing-board/ind...opic,297.0.html
  3. Thee may be a crack , be it ever so small appearing in the Premiers office on the M.P.issue & alternate options . Caught part of a comment on Hi Tide , Saturday where Bruce Schumacher had been invited to write to the Premier & Fisheries Minister on the subject. For those who do not listen to Hi Tide there is strong opposition to Marine Parks & on going practical suggestions & comments on their viability & alternativies The letters have been submitted. Did anyone else hear the comment from Bruce , was there more to it than what I picked up?? Geoff
  4. Here is some further information from the fisheries web site. The thing missing are the actual locations , Yarra Bay is a rather large area. Anyone know the actual locations or do we wait until they are listed on the Fisheries web site?? http://www.fisheries.nsw.gov.au/recreation...rtificial_reefs Geoff
  5. Guys Tks for the feedback & the web site with the photo's. May not have been the largest rally in town but every bit helps & another step foward when all can have their say at the next election Geoff
  6. Due to some personal commitments was unable to attend the rally on Saturday. Did not see any coverage on TV or in the Sundays papers. Did any raiders attend , were there many fisho's there. Would be interested to read any feedback Tks Geoff
  7. Nice one Dave , Pity about the rain After talking to you on Friday &working only 5 min from Silverwater ramp was in half a mind to slip out for a few hours & join you. Then some minor disaster occured & that put an end to that. After reading all the good reports on BB I think we need to get orginased & join in the fun Geoff

    Is This Cheating

Tend to agree but think the big advantage would be to see if there are any fish there in the first place. Fish finders are OK but can be limited with the information they provide How many times have we been out , stopped at a spot & not turned a scale. Was it because there was no fish in that location or they did not like what they were being offered. I would be interested to see one in operation when drifting for Flathead. At least you could see if there was any thing decent there or just pickers. Hope there will be a few on display at the Syd Boat Show Geoff

    This Weekend

Got the bug a week or so back to clean out the garage. Found a lot of fishing gear , some worth keeping , some not. With more space will be fitting shelves for the fishing gear The has been at me for ages to remove bait , berly & freezer bricks from the kitchen freezer. With the additional space in the garage a trip down to the local store to buy a small freezer Just for me!! Geoff

  13. Femalefisho When installing the cig lighter socket place it in the dryest part of the boat , ie minium risk ob becoming wet from spray & far away from fuel lines / tank. Reason , they have a tendency to corrode over a period of time & may short out when your not in the boat . I have mine wired via a switch & fuse so it can only becomes active when I am in the boat. If a problem occurs I can turn off the power Geoff
  14. Binns It depends on the boat size , style & perhaps the type of fishing being considered. In the case of 2nd hand boats , what the previous owner may have added. I think the 2 most common items are additional storage & rocket launches. Both of these may need to be custom made to fit in or utilise the space available. My boat came with ample storage but I did build a rocket launcher to hold 6 rods. Also added a small table that fits into the dash area . a removable bait / fish cleaning board fitted with a hose that provides water from the live bait pump. There were a lot of other items but these were either fitted by the dealer or purchased from the local boat shop Geoff
  15. Sammy , seperate yes but , any thing caught in Cooks river would have to be suspect Geoff
  16. Don't think you will find to many 11 / 12' glass boats around due to the price of tinnies in this size being far less expensive than glass. Have a look at Polycraft , they may make a boat in that size Personally I lean towards aluminium as they can take a few hits on boat ramps etc without damage. The trade off is , they can become uncomfortable in a short chop with the traditional "tinnie bang" Motor wise , 9hp would be OK but would recomond 15hp. Always nice to have a few extra horses should the need arrise Geoff
  17. Just had the intreior of the pool refurbished. Only taken me 5 years to get around to it. A few fittings need to be replaced then begin refilling on Saturday arvo. I think watching the grass grow would be more fun than filling a pool. I'm sure I will find other more interesting thins to do Geoff
  18. Here is an extract from the J.B. marine park web site Sanctuary Zone No recreational fishing by any method, or cleaning of fish or fishing gear is permitted. Habitat Protection Zone Recreational fishing by line and trapping is permitted. Spearfishing is not permitted in creeks and estuaries , but is allowed in other parts of the zone. Recreational nets permitted for the taking of prawns and crabs are the scoop, landing, scissor (push) or hoop (lift) nets. Collection of marine plants and animals for recreational purposes (bait or consumption) is permitted. High impact commercial fishing (such as trawling) is prohibited. General use zone All methods of recreational fishing are permitted." It is perhaps fair to assume the same will apply to P.S. Geoff
  19. I normally get down to my Cousins place each Easter. In respect to the dam , we go more so as a "Plan B " , when the weather is too rough to fish the ocean. Have fished the dam waterways twice over the years, result zero . From all reports there are heaps of fish but also a good supply of food so they really need to be on the bite to get a result. From our recent experience the river appears far more productive Geoff
  20. Stallo to Fishraider. Roughley where in Brogo, along the road to the dam ??. My cousins place is on the highway with the red train carrage near the entrance. 20lb eel sounds like the creature from the Black Lagoon. It must have been interesting retreiving the lure How was Mallacoota. If I recall correctly that was the place where the first Squidgie DVD was made. Geoff
  21. Moving House !!!!!!! I'v only just been able to put the street directory away & use the memory bank to get to your current house. Geoff

    Bermagui

LOCATION Bermagui There are 2 ramps , the main one is in a small cove approx 150mt from the river entrance & the other a few hundred meters further up the river. Main Ramp CONDITION & ACCESS An excellent ramp , 2 / 3 car wide , very deep & can handle large boats. Have seen guys launch 25' cruisers PARKING & FACILITIES Jetty & pontoon , Parking is unlimited , there are fish cleaning tables & toilets near by. If it has one down side , very busy on weekends , especially during the holiday period ............................................................................................ 2nd Ramp CONDITION & ACCESS Good condition but need to watch out for few oysters they grow in the cracks. Handles 3 trailers comfortably . Not as deep as the main ramp so about 5mt boats is it's limit , especially at low tide. Also , the 100mt of river between the nearby bridge & the break wall is very shallow at low tide requires the motor to be near on full tilt. Whilst this can be a negative on the positive side the ramp is far less congested with easier parking PARKING & FACILITIES. Fish cleaning tables , toilets & parking for approx 50 vehicles. Geoff
  23. David After two sucessful trips suggest we make our next outing on the Parra & see if third time the action is still holding Geoff
  24. What Kokoda lures did you buy, I really hope you didn't pay $24 for 3 Bats when they are 3 for $12 at a local tackle store here in Penrith David Here is a photo . I recall you mentioning a price , thought it was $5.00 each. Knew $8.00 each was more expensive but wanted to purchase in case they were no longer available in Sydney & was not sure when I would next visit Penrith Geoff
  25. Have just returned from a week down the South Coast. Stayed at my cousins place at Brogo. If not familiar with Brogo it is on the highway 15km north of Bega. Other than accommodation being at the right price it is centrally located , 35min run to Bermagui , Tathra , 15min to Brogo dam & 45 min to Eden Here is a summary Thursday 13th Arrived & set up our gear for an early start on Friday Friday Arrived at Bermi around 6.30am , met up with my daughter & friend . Headed south in calm seas to fish The Brothers. A lot of action but nothing worth keeping. 20knot N/E arrived by early PM , with a falling tide & the N/E directly into the river entrance decided to call it a day. Back at Brogo others had arrived & an afternoon beach outing was arranged. Fished Cuttagee Beach for 6 Salmon. 3 were good size keepers. Fun to catch , crap to eat. I fished with Berkley worms hoping for Whiting or Bream. Result was 1 small Salmon. The others were using pillies on gangs , this was the more effective set up. Saturday High winds , no boat fishing so off to the Bass hole . The Brogo river passes the front of the property & has a good supply of Bass. Most access is only via someone's property so the river is rarely fished. 3 good size fish were landed , unfortunately none for me. Sunday Family day Monday Arrived at Bermi to find calm seas. Headed to north to Camel rock. Did a few drifts for 6 , 30cm Flathead then the N/E arrived. With one of the guys feeling off colour back to the ramp & to implement plan B , Wallaga lake. The lake is 7 km north of Bermi. Several hours produced a small Tailor , whiting & reddie. Scratch W.L. from future trips. Tuesday No fishing Wednesday Went for a run up to Brogo Dam to check out the launching facilities. Water level was low , approx 1 mt below the end of the ramp. Scratch that idea. Driving around we found the base of the dam & a likely Bass spot. Plenty of fish rising but only one brief hook-up Thursday Wind was blowing 20 knots from the S/W at Brogo so planned to fish the Bega River at Tathra. Bega river is OK but nothing to get excited about. Approaching Bega noticed that the additional distance to Eden was 30 km. With Twofold Bay fishable in most conditions a quick decision & we headed south. This turned out to be our best day. Sea was calm , gentle N/E & a mornings fishing produced a good feed of fish inc a large Salmon , flathead & a variety of reef fish. Returning home the guys were keen to give the dam another run. Not as many rising this time but just on dusk 3 fish were landed. Here is a snap Friday A quiet day & decided to drive to Merimbula to check out the tackle stores. Not a cheap place to shop , picked up 3 Kokada lures for $24.00 Saturday Back home to Sydney Overall , a great time & have arranged a return trip next Easter Geoff
