  1. Ken, they didnt give a size but it was a small black, brought to the back of the boat with teasers and it to Leeann about ten minutes to land it. A pretty good job I thought as she is only a slightly built lady. Big Pete
  2. Just a quick message to let you know about a new fishing show on Channel 10, 12 pm Sundays. It stars Leeann Payne a top sort and a great fisherwoman, she caught some good size whiting off the beach in todays episode using pipies she caught on site. Also some footage of her catching a marlin on fly. Has anyone seen the show and what did you think about it ? It is run by Fishnet. Big Pete
  3. Mick, goes the extra yards to look after you I just recieved mmy guides for a couple of rods I am building and he chased all over to find a replacemnt for a guide that is not available here. Good service Big-Pete
  4. cajun, that it above the foot bridge in about 1.2 meters of water Big-Pete
  5. Just a quick report, Mate and I went down to the Woronora River and after tossing lures around hoping for a bream or two gave up and resorted to pilchards. I cast the line out unweigthed and put the rod down, the shadows were getting long by now. The line started to move and picking up the rod I set the hook, after a long hard run and a bit of headshaking I lost the fish couldnt make out what it was but according to my mate it was about a foot long. I rerigged still unweighted and cast out about half a pilli the head end, again I put the rod down and after a few miniutes it started to move I struck and the fish took off running over rocks and taking line ;I was only fishing 2kg, I managed to get the fish to the shore and over some reeds when the line broke I quickly grabed the fish and moved it up the bank a nice flathead a long way up the river, I returned the fish to the water and went home .Me two Mate nil better luck next time. 6. nick_s, I have been teaching fly tying for about ten years and it is addictive, especially when you land that first fish on a fly you have tied yourself. Big Pete
  7. sami, there are a couple of options that I use one is penn blue grease it is water proof and is really good on bearings or lanoguard grease it is also waterproof and inhibits rust but it can become a bit thin in the heat. With the blue grease I add a small amount of Lucas Oil stabiliser it makes the grease stickier and a bit more slippery I have been using this for a little while and I find it works really well. I mix a small amount in a jar and load this into a syringe and use this to put the grease where I want it. I hope this helps Big-Pete
  8. Joe, I once caught a fish that was so big that when I weighed the photo it went three kilos. Big Pete
  9. Just a quick report, the bride and I were looking for somewhere to go so we decided to go for a walk down to the Woronora river this afternoon. The tide was out and the water was a little discoloured but what the heck, lost my first plastic to a rock,it was a Berley Nymph then I switched over to a Squidgy Bug and casting over to arock bar in less than a metre of water the lure was attacked by about four bream, I managed to hook one and it only went 21cm but you have to love visual surface strikes . Had a few other hits all in shallow water but no hook ups the tide must have been dead low. So I will get back down there when there is a bit more water and give it another go Big Pete PS I would have taken a photo of the fish but it would have been to heavy to carry out
  10. I will sit this one out thanks guys have a great day, Lets hope the weather Gods are kind to you Big Pete
  11. One more attempt if any one is looking for a deckie I would like to attend this event Big-Pete
  12. Thanks Joe, nearly there I think it would have been quicker to build a new boat, I read a story once where a guy built a boat in 40 days or something for his pets Peter
  13. Went to Rockdale and picked up my new s/steel tank then had to go home and modify the boat to take it , all part of the fun I guess Big-Pete
  14. Thanks Joe, I missed one I tried every where else and forgot about BIAS, I will give them a ring tomorrow Big Pete
  15. Hello, I am after a stainless 25ltr fuel tank I have spoken to Whitworths at Caringbah twice about one and have been told that they will ring me as soon as one comes in this is now going into its 6 th week , so you can tell I am not happy BIAS dont show any in their catalogue. So if anyone knows where I can get one please let me know its a pain in the butt, trying to track one down in the size I want Big Pete
  16. Iain, thanks for the photos,it would appear that this topic is one of greater interest than I imagined. There are countless ways of mounting the lights so I have a fair bit of info to go with thanks agian all those who replied to my post Big Pete PS how did the wife like the new camera
  17. Thanks for the imput now I have lots of things to think about, the light board sounds like to way to go but I wont rush into anything just yet. The light board would be the quickest and easiest way around the light thing so I will make one up anyhow and think about the other later. Maybe the LEDs will come down in price. Iain if you get a chance please send me photos of your light board. Big Pete
  18. Thanks Boppa and platl, thats all I need to know. Light board here I come a much simpler task than rewiring the trailer and you have all said safer as well. I am spoilt I live in Sutherland Shire we dont have theft problems here, well not much anyhow, just dont sleep with your mouth open they will pinch your fillings. Big Pete
  19. Thanks Guys, the trailer originally came with a light board but it was a pain in the bum so I put the lights onto the guards and they are dieing so I am replacing them. Cabales has LEDs for around $50.oo but I am not sure if they have the yellow indicators in them. I had the lights mounted on the guards as I said and I think this may actually illegal, so I may have to go back to a light board bummer. Just a thought what are the submersable lights like? ok or crap? Big Pete
  20. I think this has been done before but my trailer lights are on the fritz and I am going to replace them, I went and bought some with the bayonet type glodes as I am not sure about the festoon type. Has anyone bought the LED ones from the US and if so are you happy with them. Yes I am going to rewire the trailer as I think part of the problem is the old wiring Thanks in advance Big Pete
  21. Ozy, I bought one of those delkor batteries 100 ahr and it seems ok I havent had it a year yet so the jury is still out,but it seems ok so far. I was told these batteries are now standard on yatches as they do not leak if turned upside down and are totaly sealed so no fear of acid eating things it shouldn't Big Pete

    Seat Advice

I need some imput please, I anm currently putting a floor in my 4.1meter Quintrex. I have put the ribs in etc but my stumbling block is what type of seats to put in and how long to have to pedestals and what brand too many choices, some are rated to 5mph,do I get the type that you can lock the seat in position or the one that ratates freely. I am thinking the locking type would be safer, any advice would be welcome Big-Pete
