  2. Hi, I am playing around with my boat (again) and I wanted to know if it is possible to shorten the steering, control cables, I used to have a centre console now I wish to move the steering further back. I currently using tiller steer but I need to move it forward. Also the replacement wire in the control cables where can I get some, yes I have searched everywhere I could think of on the net. Thanks in advance Big-Pete
  3. Its not a fish trap it was put there for flood mitagation purposes, it has been called a fish trap for year but its just folklore. At high tide there is enough water to take a boat in there and I have caught some good bream in there. Big-Pete
  4. They could have done what the Yanks did a few years ago and blow it up, plenty of berley and a strong fishy smell for a long time to come. Big-Pete
  5. Did someone mention a hurricane nice gentle breeze here at the moment. Big-Pete
  6. I have it in 4lb and love it casts further is nice and smooth and I have caught some really big fish on it. Big-Pete
  7. Saltaway does work and I think it is worth the money, I have been using it for years and I can not fault it. I bought my first batch from the US as it was about quater of the price here, you can soak parts in it straight if need be ie; youve drowned you reel or you can dilute as per the instructions and spray on leave it sit for a little while then wash , it leaves a protective film so the more you use it the better it works, would I get it on my line, I try not to, not sure it would hurt but better off not to in my opinion. I have been using it for a while, love it casts further and is extremely thin. I have it in 4lb and caught a nice size jewy and some hard running bonito on it. The only thing I have found but I have had this happen on other braids is it seems to to get caught by the wind causing a bit of a belly in the line but that is really only on windy days. Big-Pete
  9. When I read the title I thought gee this guy is hard on his deckies fitting an electric chair to his boat. Big-Pete
  10. We could start LBA, (lure buyers anonymous) I will start, Hi my name is Pete and it has been two days since I last purchased a lure. I needed it the other 300 in my collection just didn't seem complete. Just a thought Big-Pete
  11. fishnmik, I bought one from the US about $120. it bolts on very strong, it has a bolt on one side the other is a pin which you remove to swing the drawbar away. Mine works well. I think both the large fishing stores in the US have them. They come with all of the hardware to fit them and they even provide a special centre punch so you can not go wrong. Big-Pete
  12. A small rubber wedge can be pushed in next to the butt, tie a string or similar to the wedge when you get a stike or need the rod just pull out the wedge or if in a hurry give the rod a sharp tug and out it comes. Big-Pete
  13. Happy Birthday Swordie May you have many more Big-Pete
  14. Sponot, thanks for the info I will get one of the US type asap, you can even get them in stainless, but I wont it would be just one more thing to worry about left at the ramp. Big-Pete
  15. Hi Guys, I do not wish to hi-jack this post but are we allowed to use the US style of coupling if adjusted to the correct size? I would be much happier with this style of coupling as I have already scratched the bumber on my car with the standard Aussie style with the adjustment nut on top. Thanks in advance Big-Pete

    Close call

Stewy, its amazing what can go wrong with trailers, I have a mate who's towed his boat down to Thredbo and his alloy rim exploded just as he was backing down the ramp, no reason it just went. I towed my boat down to Ulladulla and while we were having a BBQ that night I noticed a bubble coming of the valve hole it took a few minutes but about 1/3rd of the inner tube was poking out of the valve hole it just went bang. Now I only run tubeless tyres. The main thing in your case is no one was hurt and we can all learn from your experiance. Big-Pete
  17. Thank you, shame about the wind today but still a good day.
  18. Buster1, they are good as you do not have to worry about holding the knife at the same angle when sharpening, its all done for you. Easy to use and you can sharpen just about anything they even have a serated knife stone. Big-Pete
  19. TheAlby, I coat the lures with 30 min Epoxy which dries hard and clear so there is no problem with scratching, and if they do get scratched it just adds to the character of the lure. Big-Pete
  20. Nanook, excellent post and photo's, looks like a good spot to fish and judging by the effort to get there, the chances of people wrecking the area is minimal. Thank you for sharing. Big-Pete
  21. My results for the comp were nil to be photographed all my whiting were just undersize, there is always next year. Big-Pete
  22. Good luck everyone, I am all packed and ready to go, Bring on the fish. Big-Pete
  23. You can use a car tyre as your air supply, or the compressor that I use cost me about $65.00 it is 1/6 hp and I use about 25psi. Do a search for lure painting dvds I dont think there are to many out there. Big-Pete PS sorry about mentioning the online shop.
  24. Hi Breambucket, I bought my double action airbrush from Hong Kong off online shop it was pretty expensive, about $30.00 and the nail paint is from there as well.I didn't want to spend to much money in case it didn't work out. Big-Pete.
  25. They do, here is a photo of a flathead caught on one. I hooked her in about 300 mm of water with only 15 min of my 30 min lunch break, lucky I was working near the water Big-Pete
