Hi all raiders,
First post - so i i'll keep it nice and short. Yesterday morning, i headed out to the Spit Bridge, just off the northern side of the bank.
I arrived at 7am, bit of a late start due too sleeping through the alarm! I was aiming to fish the run in tide, however due to sleeping in i got there right on high tide. .
I took 2 rods with me, one for bait and the other for lures. It was a slow start, fish didnt seem to bite as much as i thought. I think the bait not being fresh and from the servo could have played a big part in the morning session. I tried squid, prawns, and worms.
After a few hours i only managed to land 1 small snapper, then the fish seemed too go off the bite.
So i decided to give the softplastics a go. After 6 casts i was on!!!! My heart started racing as i havent fished at that spot before with lures. After a nice battle i managed to land a 37cm trevally .
I was stoked to have caught a trevally on a softplastic, it was a first for me. After that i kept flicking lures - hoping for a repeat. I got quite a few fish, however nothing worth taking home. There seemed to be alot of fish swimming past where i was fishing smashing bait fish. Was also quite entertaining to watch!
Slimy mac, garfish, and even a school of kingfish went right by my feet.
All in all i was really happy with the morning. Next time i will be using fresh bait though! Still managed to keep the missus happy with a fish for tea!
Cheers!
Tight lines.
