  1. hey...after reading recent posts i am gunna go fish the arvo for squid to put down later for jew or king.... if anyone has caught them recently and wants to come for the arvo ring 0412779065......tunks park by 2pm....
  2. Iam the same clem.....need to learn and never had the patients.....billy....how long do u reckon you spent to get those few? I think i might even go give it a go right now actually.....was thinking of an overnighter tonight but it looks like it might be a long arvo/overnighter. Just hope i can get some inkers for the first time......will post tomorrow.
  3. When talking current draw you are not concerned with the output watts of the unit...for want of a better explanation you are concerned with the 'input' watts of the unit.....how much power the unit needs to run its own electronics and supply power for the output transducer.... unless someone begs to differ i would believe navico....1 amp.....even if they are out by a little bit you should be putting as bigger battery as you can and if you are right on the limit of the battery i would be upsizing anyway..... good luck....
  4. Jack mackeral? is that a qld term? Cowanyoung i was catching last week....probably the same fish?
  5. yeah it beats me what goes thru peoples heads when they unhook the safety chain and unlatch the winch at THE TOP OF THE RAMP......ITS BEEN SAID ON THIS SITE BEFORE......WAIT TILL THE TRAILER IS IN THE WATER!!!!!!
  6. Hey all....went for an early fish this morning....got yakkas easy and headed out..... expectations were high with the low tide change at 7 i was on spot by sun up so had a good hour b4 the change..... fishing was slow with nannagai again stealing baits.....mowies and a couple of reddies came aboard but no hits on the livies.... decided to move to other side of reef after tide change and after having a livey out for another hour or so 1 got absoloutely smashed with the freight train heading straight for mother earth and reefing me with its first run......absoloutely devastated but a at least it keeps me as keen as ever to do it all again asap..... no more strikes and the jackets moved in got back to chaos at tunks and after getting mine out i witnessed another boat roll off the trailer and on to the ramp.....thats probably 4 times i have seen this happen.....problem with this one was the boat was full of kids.....i think there was tears from 1 but they all took it pretty well and no injuries i think..... boat was ok as well i think maybe some skeg damage but pretty sure they still went out.....anyway did anyone else do any good this mornin?
  7. Thanks for the replies guys....i had a bit more of a play and managed to remember my password to get in the router.....from here i found the network key which i punched in to the new pc....i then went back in to the router on the old pc and it had found the new computers mac adress which i just allowed the router to use and to my amazement im using the new one now to type this message. ...thanks for the help..... paul
  8. Hey...i just bought a new laptop but cant remember the network key for my wireless router.... anyone know if there is a way to reset the password to allow me to gain access with new pc? got a new toy and cant use it. .....thanks...paul
  9. 10 years ago me and a few mates bought a bertram 25 about '84 model with mercruisers and legs..... it was a great boat except the legs were constanly needing maintenance....it was never a complete failure but we always seemed to be paying for slipping so we could get em serviced...cant remember the exact mechanics of it but they were always clunking in to gear and it was never as smooth as you would expect it to be.... we all said never again on the combo of a moored boat, petrol inboard and the dreaded legs.....whats the price of premium fuel on the water now? $2 plus im guessing? diesel shaft drive if i was cashed! (i wish)
  10. i would go a marine for sure....i was given a cd / am fm from a mate and i get reception clear as a bell on fm without an aerial out at browns so work that out! by the way for what its worth we reckon the dolphins like the eagles but the marlin show up on metallica!!!!! loud and fast.....if only it was that easy!!!! im lucky to get 2 years out of the sony in the missus corolla.....its on its 3rd in 8 years......how would it go in a boat?

    Boat Trailers

yeah thanks for that its just that mine doesnt centre too well.....rollers on trailer are way too close to ribs on boat so if i am out by half a roller it tends to wanna go the wrong way and end up way off..... it actually works ok cos the boat gets stuck on the trailer so i can just climb over and winch the rest of the way if need be....it can be a chore to drive off sometimes ...wondering if skids would be better but i doubt it.......

    Boat Trailers

if u had a fibreglass 6m half cab and had the choice of rollers or skids on the trailer what would u have? i guess my question derives from haviing a %%%%% of a roll on trailer that i would love to modify to make it easier for solo launch and retrieve..... what denotes a drive on trailer anyway? i do ok at the ramp but my trailer wasnt designed for the boat so needs modifying..........
  13. thanks for the responses but im tippin the first couple are right.....100 ks an hour = 106 .....there would be no reason to have an odometer check on the freeway if kms travelled didnt equate into kms an hour....thats the wholre reason for having it in the first place! as for the time it takes to travel a given distance... dunno what planet your on but if i took 5 hours to travel that same 5kms my odometer would be exactly the same! Unless i did it with the back wheels spinning which would have been fun!

    Pinkys?

hey how r u doing....just a question ive been fishin outside sydney for the last 20 years or so....i assume u call pinkys what i call reddies or squire? i went last night and only managed 4 mowies and then as the sun disappeared it was port jacksons, maori wrass! some sort of weird pearch and nannygai in numbers. Fishin with livies for jew outside under a full moon was all in all disappointing....great night to be out but i aint caught a jewy in about 5 years,....... happy dads day
  15. If ur seriously gunna chase marlin and the like imo tld 25 not big enough and not enough line capacity.... minimum tld 30 2 speed.....i reckon you might as well spend a bit more to start with rather than having to get something bigger/better down the track..... i am often guilty of trying to save to start with and it ends up costing me double in the end.....i would hate to be trying to land my first marlin on a tld 25....im no expert but i have seen them peel line off tiagra 30s and 50s and wouldnt want anything less to try stop em... obviously more experienced crews can do it but for starting out i would go the tld50.... just my 2 cents worth anyway....good luck!
  16. If your looking at balmoral beach from a boat to the left of it is a grassy little sort of island or small headland....in a few metres of water in front of this is where i get em...... further to the left of this are boat moorings and a wharf....this is another spot however i have never tried it..... if you are prepared to spend an hour or so you should be able to locate them....in summer it takes 10 mins..........good luck and let us know how u go....
  17. Thanks for that....i probably just havent been patient enough cos if they dont show up in 5 mins or so i move on....
  18. Thanks guys ......106! Now i know why i seemed to be overtaking a lot of cars on the way up there! Just cant remember what speed i was doing through the speed cameras....
  19. I have struggled to catch yakkas the last 2 times i tried at balmoral....are they still around in numbers or do i need to spend more time in finding them? I will be trying to get them b4 sunrise....has anyone else struggled to find them lately esp. in the dark
  20. Just got back from Stockton beach where i caught nothing...2nd time beach fishing for me and the same result both times....anyway i have a 93 model jackaroo 4wd and i did the odometer test on the freeway and my odometer is 300m short over the 5kms. So when my speedo is showing 100km what speed am i actually doing? Call me stupid if u loke but maths was never my thing!I assume its out due to new wheels being put on it at some stage? Will have to check what they come out with originally....does anyone own a similar age jackaroo as this? This one has over 320000kms and goes ok however it has no torque at higher speeds and really struggles with the hills on the freeway...i am wondering if i was to rebuild the motor would i get much more power or were they always like this? Its a 3.2L isuzu petrol motor. Needless to say its a slow trip when i hook 2 tonne of boat and trailer to it........any help much appreciated.
  21. Hi Raiders....just wondering if anyone has fished the banks and wider recently or consistently at this time of year? I remember being down there years back for october long weekend and some guys were catching yellowfin....is october long weekend a known time for yft on the south coast? OR what about the weekends heading up to that? September any good for kings or yft down there? Gotta get some fish and sydney just doesnt seem to be producing.......anyone catching any gamefish antwhere??
  22. Yeah last time we tried bottom fishing round there it was a patch of sweep here a patch of jackets there and some sizeable flathead a bit further out
  23. Yeah the shield on an elecrtrical cable is only to help stop electrical noise from other power sources entering the cable and being transferred up the cable and in to the electronics which can cause malfunctions etc... a transducer cable or just about any cable can be cut and joined if u know what ur doing but obviously doing so will void warranty.....wont be long and the transducer will ring ur mobile to tell u the marlin have arrived!!
  24. Yeah wharf rd is the one at Ermo/Melrose park....this is plenty quiet enough mid week....real easy at low tide as floating pontoon ends up real close to ramp...as already stated watch for rivercats and a strong winter westerly will make things a bit more interesting as it will blow straight across the ramp.... westerly will hinder u at silverwater and putney as well...good luck.
  25. Last good king i caught was on a whole live pike about that size...we know when we have that distinctive smell of pike in the boat we have a good chance at a good king as well......
