  1. As far as i can remember sweep r full of oil and small bones....sweep over snapper is a huge call... i know what i'll be throwing back next time im at longy....the only thing i hate more than sweep is the humble L J.... has anyone been plagued by these lately or dare i say it have they disappeared????
  2. We seen a few flying fish off nth head about a month ago but again have never caught one! Used too see them often while trolling for marlin
  3. Minimum noise was made by us and to me thats like buying a house in mascot and complaining about aircraft noise.... lack of lighting at the ramp will never stop us from night fishing but it will make us louder at the ramp 'cos we cant see what we are doing..... Are there any other better ramps for night fishing around mh?
  4. Hey all.....decided to go for arvo bash on chrissy day arvo.....put in at tunks park about 330pm... tried for yakkas at balmoral for no result....couldnt separate them from all the sweep....whats the trick? Trolled north head with skirts on the way outside for nothing....first drop on the drift over reef off sydney....mowies and under sized reddies one after the other.... also pike which went down and stayed alive into the darkness for no result....original target species was jewfish with yakkas.....caught mowies and reddies into the darkness and then absoloutely nothing....no moon to be seen either which made it as dark as i have ever seen it on the water at night....we would usually expect to get the odd night time shark/cat fish looking things but nothing....got back to ramp around 11 pm and gees that place is dark....they really do need a couple of more lights at that ramp as without the spotty we had on board it would have been a struggle to even see the pontoon.....it was no real problem but a pain in the ass doing everything with a spotty.... think ill write to council....has anyone else complained about this as it could be quite dangerous! A prawn net at the ramp would have been handy too! A few around...
  5. Awesome snapper..... i once took a mate fishing for his first time on a boat...he dropped a prawn to the bottom off sydney and pulled in a 2kg snapper.... my pb would be less than 1kg and i have fished that spot 15 years.....to get a 9 kg one is absoloutely incredible!....Well done!
  6. Top fish mate...did u get smashed by any others or this was the only king for your day?
  7. hi saltrix.... not even leatheries offshore? did u lose any gear?
  8. Hi all.....life would really suck if you couldnt even go fishing without big brother watching. What's next???????????????????????? Voted
  9. How long is the boat and how big is the motor...cant tell by pics.....im guessing 17FT? and 90hp? Im no expert but if this is the case probably $10000?

  11. Hey bad luck on the fishing saturday but at least you got out...i was actually about to post a thread asking if fads were still off botany cos we looked last time and couldnt find them.... we must have been too far north but i cant even find any waypoints on internet lists referring to these fads so wondering if you had waypoints and were willing to post them or pm them...may see you out there soon....im in an old 21 foot cruisecraft half cab that goes good but needs a paint job!....cheers...Payatz
  12. Heading in from good mornings fishing at the banks off culburra in 5 metre cruiseabout..... south coast southerly about to hit and engine stalls...southerly on us.....2 metre sloppy swell and rising..... diagnosed water in fuel.... had to drain carbys on 85hp v4 johnno....1 carby at a time by removing small screw from bottom of each carby waiting for water to drain and then puttiing screw back while drifting in big seas...managed to do it and got home on spare 20l jerry can with mate holding fuel hose directly in to can.... never been so happy to see a boat ramp in all our lives....young and stupid at the time but lived to tell the story!
  13. Yeah thanks for that josh...i think we will have to put some more time in to catching them cos at the moment we burley up for 5 minutes and if theres nothing there we head straight outside.. going back a few years we had no probs in catching them like this but thats all changed now. Thanks for the reply and happy fishing!
  14. Hey raiders...wondering where all you guys get your yakkas from cos we used to get plenty in front of the shacks near dobroyd head but havent seen any there for ages??? I was told around further from balmoral so i assume he might have meant in front of the navy land there? Any help much appreciated!
  15. Mind if i ask where you get your loads of yakkas?
  16. Gday... i know someone living in exmouth at the moment...was driving round oz and loved it too much to leave! He says the fishing is fantastic but when he last sms he said water temp only 18 degrees so sailfish run hadnt started yet...had to stick to massive reef fish the poor bastard! "Anything under a metre goes back" he lies! Top spot
  17. yep i'll be in for the slaughter....forget wire trace....anyone got any dynamite!!!!
  18. Hi all.... went out bottom bashing off sydney today and got nothing but chinaman bloody leatheries and a few undersize reddies.... must have re-rigged about 20 times between the three of us....at one stage the boys actually hooked a couple of the rigs that had previously been bitten off!Did anyone else go out and have the same problem? Wondering if they are up at long reef or the whale or spots like that...keen to put some hours on my boat but not if it means going through that much gear... all in all a good day on the water with great weather and seas but shame about the fishing....
