  1. Hi Tiger cam.

Just want to follow up your fuel gauge issue. I asked bcoz i got the same problem as yours. But you r luckier than me coz my fuel gauge always empty instead of full.

    is the problem fixed up?

    i have a stacer 525 year 2003.

    regards, Phil

    G'day Phil,

Yes mate fixed - purchased a new Wema fuel sender. If you have the same issue, make sure you get the right sender:

With float at the bottom it should read 240 ohm and at the top 30 ohm, or

With float at the bottom it should read 0 ohm and at the top 180 ohm.

Here is the one I bought: http://www.wema.com/publish_files/S3_-_326000-326080.pdf . Fortunately it comes with the standard 5 hole configuration as the original.

I purchased the wrong one to start with and when I connected it, it showed full when empty and empty when full

    Cheers,

    Cam

  2. Cam Sounds like the chair from Huey & perhaps the rubber from Gary is the way to go.

I had the same problem some years back , bought a twin hull boat , no more tinny bang or sore back.

Problem , it cost a lot more than a new chair but it was time for an up grade anyway.

    Geoff

    G'day Geoff

I can justify the chair ... the boat upgrade would be a strecth at the moment but at least I have a better idea of what the requirements of the next boat should be :1boat: . Twin hulls are renown for ride and stability so would definitely be in the equation.

    Cheers

    Cam

  3. any one else that would like a peace off soft rubber 2 inches thick to stand on send me a pm

    cheers gary

Thanks again for the soft rubber Gary  It will no doubt allow me longer time on the water - in which case the :wife: may not be as grateful :biggrin2:

    Cheers

    Cam

  4. Intersting to hear that there are plenty of boats there Hodgey. Weather must be accomodating? I just came back from a quick shore session on the Shoalhaven and there are bugger all boats around. The wind was up around 15 - 20 knots though with the occassional sprinkling :frozen: . Catching anything in that sort of traffic is always going to be difficult, so well done on getting a couple.

    Cheers,

    Cam

  5. hey mate, what about one of those inflatable doughnut's you can get from the chemist, or even a inflatable cushion, i think inflatable will absorb the blow a lot more than a regular cusion.

I know the type you mean - my :wife: has something similar that wraps around her neck when travelling long distances. I might have to borrow it :whistling: and give it a go!

i would also be interested in a soft ride seat craig at present i stand on a section off soft rubber 2 inches thick and it helps no end with my crook knee tiger cam send me a pm and i'll get you some solf rubber from work give that a go when your standing cheers gary

Thanks for your generous offer Gary - PM sent

  6. if you can get your mate to drive and try and sit at the back of the boat that should help..

Thanks Austral - I do a fair bit of solo fishing.

You can get shock absorbing seat but they cost a fortune anything from a 1k to upwards of 25k, you may find cheaper ones out there but rust is a big problem and the way some of the cheaper ones operate, if you where to go over a large wave and grab the bottom of your seat you would chop your fingers off when you came back down by the shock absorbing mechanism so just keep that in mind.

    Thanks for the tips Whaler.

Hi Cam, soft rider pedestals are what you want and not that dear-we have fitted them to both new and secondd hand boats and they work well.

    Cheers,

    Huey.

Cheers Huey. I'll contact you soon.

Gday Cam, the best way to look after your back is remove the seat and stand up when under way.

Standing is also painful - I try to bend my knees to act as a shock absorber, but it's all in the timing!

  7. Like many others, I have a dodgy back. I am currently on the recovery trail from a back operation – all good  . I am looking to get back on the water soon.

Hence I am seeking advice from those that may have a solution to minimise the jarring affect that a 4.5m tinny has on even the mildest of chop. My current solution is a cushion on top of the seat. See photo below. This provides marginal improvement.

I know that there are others out there suffering the same issues and would be appreciative if you would share your inventive thoughts / ideas :1Lighten: . An idea that I have is a shock absorber type fitting under the seat - does this already exist?

    Thanks,

    Cam

PS..... For those of you with chronic back pain and interested in my operation I would be happy to share my positive experience.

  8. Cam Is there a brand name on the gauge ?? Perhaps a phone call to the supplier will tell you what bits are missing & availability of replacements.

Out of interest , how long has it been since it last worked

    Geoff

    G’day Geoff,

No brand name – just the logo that you can see on the photo. No part number either!

I rang Telwater (boat manufacturer) whom said they don’t use them anymore. I need a replacement sender that is flat on the top (no protrusions) as the floor of the boat sits virtually on top of the sender. I have had a pretty good look around the web and am not able to find one like it.

It hasn’t worked for about two months now.

sender units are cheap, spare parts places for cars sell them, need to check the ohm rating of sender to match the gauge, even take sender to auto electrician and they will help you with what you need. without the float, gauge should be reading empty, disconnect wires and see if gauge moves, maybe a gauge fault as well as sender.

    Fester,

Thanks for your suggestions. Telwater said the ohm rating is 30 – 204? Could be the gauge …..but more likely the sender. The light still works on the gauge….?

I think my biggest issue is getting a sender that will fit under the floor without having to do any other major modifications. Even this sort of sender will be affected by the floor sitting on top - http://www.wema.com/publish_files/S5_-_323100-323150.pdf

  9. hay cam the sender unit is broken u should have a black plastic float on the shaft id say the screw came loose over time and its droped off, u can buy replacment sender units on the net good quality to. id drain the tank and try and get the rest of the bit out before installing new unit,

    good luck!

Thanks mc fishin... that was my fear .. looks like I've a got a job to do tomorrow!

All i can say is.... lucky you!

In the 3 years that i have had my bertie 25, i have NEVER seen the fuel gauge show full. :074::074:

Maybe its because its a 300 litre tank and at marina prices with a V8 i need a 2nd mortgage :mad3::05:

    :074:

Love it! :Funny-Post: mate if you like we can swap... no need to buy fuel with mine :biggrin2:
