  1. Congrats Slinky and Mrs Slinky on a memorable holiday  I think you have inadvertently created a mass FR desire to visit Magnetic Island, myself included.

I think for your parents sake you need to visit them on a more regular basis :biggrin2:

    Welcome back!

    Cheers,

  2. Went out with a mate last Sunday with the hope of landing a jew on plastic after reading so many inspiring reports. We tried a couple of different spots to no avail using a few different size plastics and jig heads.

We then started targeting bream around the various jetties with blades. Only the second time I’ve given them a go. Did the slow lift and drop when eventually I get a hit…..nice whiting 35cm long surfaces….. mmm I’m starting to really like these blades now! But that was it…. no more, nada, zip.

Guess when the gun fisho’s like Swordy are have donuts I can’t expect too much more.

That’s it for me now until I wet a line in Fiji in a few days…..hopefully do a little better there! :biggrin2:

  3. Brings back memories of a wedding my :wife: and I enjoyed at North Avoca beach and then the reception at the club you can see in the distance in your second photo Ray. Was a great arvo / night and really appreciated the beauty of the local scenery as the sun set.

Better luck next time with the :1fishing1:

  4. G'day Robust,

I have a very similar boat and venture outside (within 1-2km offshore) on calm days only and not too far away from the heads. Even when good weather is predicted, make your own assessment as you approach the heads. Make sure you have all your safety equipment and keep your radio on for sudden changes in weather conditions. I don't go out alone and always keep one eye out on the swell / weather. Have confidence in your boat by ensuring it's serviced regularly and you in turn will build in confidence. Try not to become too cocky either. Make sure you are familiar with dangerous locations such as bommies. If crossing a bar be even more careful as that's where a mishap is likely happen. No fish is worth placing yourself in danger.

Good luck and look forward to the reports.....in good time.

    Cheers,

    Cam

  6. Great stuff Ray and Hutcho  Terrific reds for the BBQ. Congrats on the PB :1clap:

From a fishes perspective, I wonder what they were thinking when they looked up to see a bloke with his sunnies and hat on splashing about half submerged with an underwater smoke in his mouth? :secret::074:

Glad to see it ended in laughter!

    Bait or plastic?
