  1. If a fellow fishraider does not have a boat is it alright if we do some landbased angling, but still join in? Maybe off one of the groynes that run along the beach there or something
  2. i was just waiting for that rod to break! great video, i love it when people post videos of them reeling in a fish top catch Alex
  3. Just wondering if there was an inexpensive and practical way of breeding your own live bait, such as nippers, poddy mullet or pippies in the house or garage? Alex.
  4. thanks for the help guys and yeah, im not sure cooks river fish are worth taking a risk with i guess you have to look at this history of the river and use some common sense such a shame its polluted, would've be such a convienient place to drop in a line heard people used to swim, fish and even drink the water in the cooks, (way back in the day when there were no cement walls) o well, what can you do ay the damage is already doen Alex
  5. went bike riding with a mate from school along the cooks river kept riding till we found a decent spot, under one of the many bridges that go along the cooks stopped at a spot, my mate used some prawns and i tried the lures and sp's we were fishing in 1-2m water and first cast, my mate got a nice little bream around 30cm.. scales looked a bit discoloured though.. he was keen to eat it but i advised otherwise put on an 3' berkley gulp minnow and cast it around a bit.. got nothing with no success in that i decided to try out a surface popper... got nothing my mate kept bringing in small bream im not sure if its just me or my rod or line or something but i really suck with plastics it was evident there were fish around.. .. and we were fishing on the run-in tide 2nd time going with plastics and having no luck would anyone have any suggestions on what is wrong? i use a 6-7kg rod, small bream reel, and 6lb hercules braid line

  8. Went down with a mate to a beauty spot under gladesville bridge just got a new rod and reel off ebay and wanted to try it out it was a last minute decision to go fishing.. and turned up to the spot and it was low tide tried some sp's (first time using them) and got nothing, lost about 4 of them getting snagged... got some fresh prawns out and got a small leatherjacket around 20cm that was about it the whole day plenty of bites though besides not getting many fish stilll had an awesome time with my mate great sunset - my friend said the spot was a great place to 'reflect' i balled out laughing. need to practice sp's though, i suck will go back to the spot at high tide
  9. Hey all, I'm relatively new to fishraider and even more new to soft plastics; i have no clue what plastics are for which fish, what size jighead to use for different conditions, how to use plastics, and things like that sad.gif went out today and lost 4 SP's and jigheads because they got snagged somehow.. in waters where i could see where there were hardly any rocks or weed i'm 16, living in the canterbury area and my parents are happy to drop me off in anywere along the cabarita/abbotsford/fivedock/balmain/drummyone area i was just wondering if anyone would want to or could spare some time in having a SP session land-based it would be a good change to learn how to use these lures and sp's, and i don't see me getting any better unless getting some tips from more distinguished SP fisherman Any help would be appreciated smile.gif Take it easy, sherackattack
  10. Format? I guess it would go along the lines of... General Fishing Section [/u]Fishing Reports Fishing Reports for all areas Forum Led by: MODERATOR *** The fishing report section would then have 2 subforums: 'All Land-based reports' and 'All boating reports' Something along those lines
  11. Hey, I'm kinda new to this and not really sure whether anyone has suggested this, but i was just thinking that if there was a land-based fishing reports section on the forum, it would be a lot easier and convienient for chaps like me and i'm sure, a lot of others, who dont have a boat or don't know anyone that has one, to read reports that we can relate to and can get advice from, such as good fishing spots from the reports.. Moderators, would you please consider this if it isnt too much of a hassle? Take it easy, sherackattack
  12. it's all good im just on google earth plotting all these points out on the map haha and pulpit point looks like there's no direct entrance to it
  13. Hey, thanks for those recommendatinos yeah , i've been to pier 2 early a couple of times been sitting there all day trying to catch those massive fish that hang under the wharves Not sure what they are, surgeons? But i clearly remember my mate on his 4kg rod with 4lb line, chucking in a pillie and letting it float on the water A minute later we see a massive kingfish (i estimated around 70cm+) grabbing it and pulling the drag like no tomorrow and ended up causing a tangle on teh reel A couple of chinese people i always see there also hooked up with a 48cm bream there using some chicken thigh crazy times
  14. NAROOMA!!! Its about 350km south of sydney the bluest water you'll ever see and some of the best fishing, land-based or boating, that you'll get There is boat hire there where i can tell you, and in the inlet, in parts is very deep water A really good place to get your own live bait; theres' a huge sandbank which can be pumped for yabbies at low tide, there are heaps of poddy mullet and the water is the clearest you'll probably see! My personal experience.. couple of years back in 2005 i went with my family i was only 13 then but i went fishing by myself on a wharf right where the boathire place is using a handline and bread i caught a 34cm bream (man it was fat) and a decent flathead around 45cm dropped off my line as i was bringing it in on that same night i hooked my finger with a big red mustad hook and had to go to a hospital 40km away and wait till 1 in the morning to get it off I also went this summer that just passed; i went on my mates boat into the inlet; plenty of flathead and bream, and a lot of legal, but still small snapper. I heard there are also a lot of tailor and jews in the lake. If you want more info about narooma just pm me and ill be happy to talk to you about it more Take it easy, Alex
  15. thanks brickman going out with some boys this weekend if i can get a lift from the parents ill take a crack at under the gladesville bridge! any other suggestions? any particular wharves? i've been trying to scout out some good vantage points on googleearth but havent had any luck
  16. Hey guys I'm 16 and i sometimes go out with mates to places like cabarita, abbotsford, balmain and birchgrove for a bit of fishing on the public wharves there (i dont eat fish from cabarita hehe) I've been going these particluar places for a while now and still can't seem to get any decent fish, let alone any bites, even when getting good baits Even though i have great fun fishing with friends, its still disappointing at the end of the day if we're out there for half the day and only catching one little bream Just wondering if anyone would like to share any decent land-based fishing spots along the paramatta river It would be greatly appreciated Cheers, Alex
