  9. I don't know mate, had a backpackers hostel with a bar ect that was open xmas day. A couple of pubs that were very busy, spent my birthday on the 30th at the old pub on the cliff with live music plenty of people ect. I'm sure it probaby quietens down during winter but plenty of restaurants, local clubs with courtesy buses and if you're an outdoors man heaps to do. Cheers
  10. Nice catch mate, the young bloke would have loved posing for that photo.
  11. Thats a bloody strange looking crab for sure and certain. Congrats on the flatties mate. Get the big girl next year.
  12. I just spent 10 days up in Yamba over christmas and there was fish everywhere in the river. Flathead, whiting, bream the odd flounder and unfortunately loads of stingrays. Also saw several school jews being cleaned at some of the ramps. We caught fish every session, varying degrees of success even when we just fished off the caravan parks jetty like everyone else. (the young bloke just had to fish everyday ) The upside for you is there are 5 or 6 quality surf beaches right at your door step to go with the fishing. If you have a boat I reckon you could explore forever. Highlight of the trip was fishing from the jetty and having a pod of dolphins come right up to us and smash a school of fish on the surface. Close enough that we could have touched them with the tips of our rods several times. Was an awesome sight, unfortunately after a decent start (2 keeper bream in the esky) we didn't get a single bite once the dolphins went through!
  13. What a great idea. Will definately try and take part in this. Thanks for the link.

  18. Hi everyone. I'm after a little advice if at all possible. I'm heading up to Yamba on Monday for 10 days where I plan to do a whole heap of fishing. I have a couple of nice spin rods that I will be taking and using in the estuary but after doing some research and looking at a few maps I really want to give that rockwall and maybe even a beach or two a go as well. What kinda outfit do you guys think I would need? I'd like to be able to use it both off the beach and the rockwall if possible. I'm asking rod length reel size etc. I don't get a lot of spare time during the year with the kids and work etc so I don't want to spend a silly amount of money but I'd like to buy something decent at the same time. So something durable, versatile decent etc and strong enough for me to hopefully catch a really nice fish Thanks for any help.
  19. Headed to Yamba for 10 nights. Have never been up there before but plan to explore as much as I can and hopefully find a feed. When all else fails nodoubt I'll be booking a charter
  20. Nice catch, was this in Sydney?
