  1. At least your dissapointment wasnt a PJ 1.6m insted of a Jewie like my self. You cant eat those Well done anyway
  2. Headed out at 4am this morning for MH to see if I could get me that all elusive(for me anyway, kingie virgin) MH king. Went to get some yakkes eazy enough and DR through pretty much all the morrings in MH and a few boys and not a sound on the sounder let alone a nible on me yakka . AT least Ive still got my humour Gave up on that idea and headed to the wedingcake.... nothing. Is it me or where any other raiders out there and found the same. Went home dissapointed but had a good morning on the water anyway. Persistance and patiance I guess
  3. Thanks for the coments. What is itwith the nuclear chicken colours, I mean when I put it on the jig I thought, Havnt seen many baits that rasemble an apple toffe lollypop(remember those) but works very well. I saw a decent school of mullet as well lurking in the kelps and was wondering if there is a soft plastic that might work for them. Has any one cought mullet on soft plastics? Cheers
  4. I know ay... WTF? The person who named it nuclear chicken must have attended woodstock or is the brains behind the Ren & Stimpy show
  5. Mate, I know a old bloke that rows 3k out the heads(on agood day) in a smaller boat than that! Rows!
  6. Nice morning and thought Id try and get myself my first fish on SP landbase. Ive been practicing for a while now and nothing. Well, I headed to anice little spot in Balmain and cracked open a new pack of 4'minows in neucliar chicken that Ive heard so much about and stuckit on a jighead (medium) and in 20min I cought my first fish on soft plastics A nice 40cm Flat head, not huge but stoked that all that practice paid off The miss rang dshortly after and said bring some bread rolls for the BBQ for lunch and said Ill do one better my first FH on SP. Yum. Next me im on myboat Im going for a big croc on SP.
  7. Well done mate. thinking of heading out there myself on Monday
  8. Cheers mate, have you any deicent spots for squid land based that you would like to share? You could PM me if you dont want to tell the whole world. If no thanks anyway mate. Cheers
  9. LETS GO BOYS, SAY GOOD BUY AND GOOD RIDDENS TO THE BOSS AND BECOME THE NEXT no no noS OF HAININ ISLAND. ILL CHUCK IN 50% AND
  10. Thanks netic, Ive seen your pick and video links, bloody unreall I used your sqid cut on a smaller scale on a 8-17lb sol rod and reel but on a single hook and caght a 55cm flathead on it. But have you ever used a whole dead yakka or macaral on it? or would you fillet the fish and use the same rig on the fillet? Cheers
  11. Gday guys, major stuff up this morning I was supose to go out at 2am for a fish seaaion solo and the f@#ken car wouldnt start my real question is can you rig up dead bait to a downrigger such as squid and yackes? If so how would you stop them from spining? I rigged a dead but fresh macaral one day by the nose and when I pulled the bait out of the water due to no bites its mouth was wide open like this That cant be right..should I use a 2 hook set up or just one?( a towing hook and one on the rear of the top fin and on squit on the bottom of the tube) Could anyone shed some light or whatwould be realy good some diagrams or photos? I would appreciate it very much as I dont realy have a live tank so they tend to die on me, I need one though and looking into getting one made up. Or some times I go for a baiting session and then the next morning go for a fish session as I may have a few hours only to spare. Im aware that maybe this topic may have been covered but cant seem to find it. Cheers Ps.Rob if you read this Im spuin! dam car I just gave up. Looks like a good day mate for it in MH though good luck. Till next time
  12. IS THERE SUCH A THING
  13. Thanks Netics, awsom link you got there as well. Im convinces that I made the right decision. One guy at a cirtain tackle shop(not Go Fish) recons that he gets his info from a 30yr experianced marlin fisher and recons that 2 speeds are a load of crap when difference in performance is concirned. Dont get me wrong, they are a lovely and helpfull bunch of people but 9 out of 10 say 2 speed, Im going with the odds. Every one has there prefferances I supose. And I think that for the extra few $ I cant go wrong. What do you guys think? Also what do you guys think about my choice of rod, live fiber Texalium?
  14. Can I ask why you would have gone with the TLD as apose to the TYRNOS? Pros and cons?
  15. 'As said it can pay off to go out on a charter, i've been on quite a lot in the harbour as i'm good mates with who i think is the best in the harbour with kingies and jewies.' You must be talking about netics ... have you seen his 'fishy pics' Im with that dude, Im in the process of hunting some my self as I have not hooked one yet. Persistance is the key
  16. I see a good solution.... downrig past a boat parallel to it when you can and not across it so you wont get tangled in anything..simple.. You are not iterfearing with masive waves as downrigging is at veryslow speed and I DONT agree that first in and all the rest can get stuffed. Its called courtesy and sharing just because you got to the linef at the casher first DOESNT mean its your casher... My 2 bob anyway
  17. Well boys and lasses I just bought a TYRNOS 30 2 speed at old prices for $425. As youal may or may not know that if your local tackle shop has one on hand (or any thing you may be interested in) GET IT as they will be at least 20% more expensive when the new stock arrives at current US$ rates. Allthough Im sure the boys at GoFish will still give you a good deal.....small plug Any way, seriously, I Couldnt find one any where. I will be matching it up with a live fibre on Wednesday from our mates at Go Fish after the Melbour Cup tomorrow (if I got any $ left or maybe if I win big ll buy shares in Co. ). Any way good luck with the Cup tomorrow people just dont bet on the donkey!
  18. Gday raiders, Im thinking of getting a blue water fishing get up and am tossing between the TLD30 2speed and the TYRNOS 30 2speed (or single speed as they are a high speed reel anyway) fitted to a LIVE FIBRE 15kg rod. What are the pros and cons of these two reels(or three)? Is single speed all I need? Im thinking of the TYRNOS single speed as they are reasonably priced at the moment, would I be makeing a mistake? Any Info/feedback would be appreciated. Cheers

    Bad Luck

Gday mate hows going, Now that you got the hang of glassing i think you should take all that ally plating on the transom off one day and give the whole thing a glassing over and then reinstal the ally plates. I guess this is the problem when you buy a second hand boat for the first time on your own with no experiance. You could allways ask a fellow raider to check the boat out if you dont have anyone to ask. It helps heaps. good to see you are finaly enjoing your boat.
  23. No problem mate should be a scream, well I hope the drags will be screaming at least anyway
  24. how many tuna sandwiches will that make? It will be tuna sandwiches for school for the next 3 years
