  1. Most of my fishing is for bream and is finesse fishing .

Slams are to stiff and big and u have to fish then to fast to get the tails working in comparrason to gulps .

which for me dosnt suit my style . good for flathead but the flathead dosnt really care what it eats , ive caught them on silver foil .yes u can cut them up and use them as bait but u can do the same with bread ???

they might be better on bigger species i wouldnt know but on bream this is what i have found .

then again there is always squidgies :1prop:

  2. Ironically i just returned from 5 days in hobart on monday .

fished the mariner at wrest point casino twice for 3ish hrs and caught about 20 flathead on each session .

all soft plastics ,it didnt matter what u through at the them they smashed it . even had a flathead leap out of the water and hook itself on a wrigler .

the fishing is just insane down that way .i had the same fishing in the same spot 2 years ago .

    where were u fishing ????

thow i wouldnt want to eat any of the fish in that area ..... zinc works u no .

  4. I'm also looking into a kayak for fishing and recreation.

I'm leaning towards the new Hobie Pro Angler for a fishing platform though I am waiting for the new Malibu Kayaks range to hit the BCF stores first.

I really want to sit in a Malibu X-13 and a Stealth 14 till I decide. I went in to BCF at Auburn Syd on Thursday afternoon and was told that the shipment was delayed till around Xmas.

So I'll hit BCF again just after New Years.

    Matt.

arrhh yes the pro angler , shes a big boat :1prop:

at the recent abt at narrabeen there were alot of oros on the water and a swear they look like a nimitz class aircraft carrier .

let us know when u guys have your yak if u want to hook up for a fishing session

  6. what sort of fishing do u want to do - where do u want to go fishing .

also a sit on yak i believe are safer and better suited to most fishing situations as they are self draining and very stable .

half the fun is modifying your yak to suit your needs ie fish finders - anchor trollies - trolling bars - rocket laurnchers .

viking make fantastic fishing yaks and there aussie built , i have a viking - tempo fisherman but they make several different fishing models .

check out the web site .

hobies are also good BUT twice the price .[ im thinking of getting one myself]

there are also a few yak fishing sites [ just google ] yak forums and im sure u will get all the info u need .

its a GREAT way to go fishing as im sure u will see .

any questions u can pm me

  8. That would have been very exciting to watch - I wouldn't be surprised if they were kingies - I watched 4 separate schools swim past the breakwall into Wallis Lake on Sun afternoon - I just wished I had some metal lures to toss about, too!!

    Roberta

Hope you get into some, Craig! Good luck!!

could only stay for a couple of hours , no kingies a few undersize bream and 2 cutlefish .

through the cutlefish back they were about 10 inches long and were perfect kingfish tucker ..... come to think of it they did seem a litle worried . :1prop:
