  4. hi Guys Fished on Frigate for the comp with captin Stu taking out heviest YFT at 30.5 on saturday. We had a great comp with 3 fin from 25 to 30kgs boated and 4 good fish lost on 10 and 8kg line 2 of wick were after more than an hr fight which was dissapointing. The Cube was definately more productive than the troll. The sunday saw us fish the same spot as the previouse day but with out sight of a fin we managed a good mako of 200 + kg in the last hr of fishing so we had to through it a 37kg outfit so to be asured we could boat it in time... 45 mins lated the gaffs were in and all hell broke loose the mako was green as and not a happy camper.......... the bugger eventually rolled several time to dislodge the gaffs and striped the 400pound leader back to nothing and he was gone . But thats fishing... was a great comp and a good result for us finally weighing some decent fish in our home comp. good turn out and a well ran comp by the BBGFC and commity Thanks to all and we will see you all next yr Regards Bayley
  5. Frigate will be down there from thursday for the comp. lets hope we get some good weather and plenty of fish.
  6. Nice one Boys. are you guys still coming up for the Bermi Comp at Easter ?
  7. we had between 21.5 to 23.0 deg C on the weekend check your SST,s though shouldnt be much cloud cover today
  8. Any one got a spare spot to fish the interclub ????? not that keen to drag our trailerboat up that far....?
  9. May I ask why you chose Eden ? Definately get on a charter first time round, and if your really keen come a bit further north to bermagui or Batemans bay for a really good chance of getting your first marlin. the charter guys know where the fish are and generally have exceptional results. Feel free to PM me for a good operator in the area.
  10. Fishing jervis hopefully if the weather plays its part ....
  11. Cheers Ross Yeah we plan to specificaly target blues a bit this year we are really keen to get one . We will be running the two 37kg outfits and 2 24kgs, we are also set up for switch baiting which i believe will be valuable. I put this post up to get some opinion and general feed back on my decision and it has proven to be a good read and some sound advice. Cheers guys
  12. Mate im not talking about fishing from a chair with 60kg tackle and of cause you want the maximum amount of like possible on your reel, but i made my choice on the fact that fishing out of a 6m trailerboat 600m on a 50wlrsa is more practical than say an 80w especially if the conditions are against you, I think id be prepared to pay for another spool if it actually happened, not to dismiss the power at all of a blue this rig would also be more versitile on stripes and tuna also.
  13. Thought id get everyones opinion here on how much line do you think you will need??? coming from a gamefishing background the norm is the magical 1000m mark...I came to this question though recently when spooling my brand new 37kg set up.. I had opted to go for a Tiagra 50w LRSA on a custom bent butt rod. I didnt want the added weight of an 80w because fishing stand up in a 6 m trailer boat in some moderate sea poses enough trouble without a heavy bulky reel. The intention of this set up was for marlin fishing along the NWS coast ( there are some Big Blues out there) though now after spooling it up with 37kg tiagra line i realise that i have about 400m left from the 1000m spool.. which gives me aprox 600 on the reel. Is this enough ? are the disadvantages of a bulky reel out weighed by the advantage of more line ? our trailerboat is rather manouverable but a big blue can run a long way too ....... 14. Great news for the comp.. Might have to come up and get amongst teh action next weekend
  15. Thats what we like to see. well done mate, now they just need to come down the coast a little

  17. You can find the GPS Marks on here or google moruya fishing GPS.... there are some awsome outside fishing spots like tuross caynons, moruya caynons , 1000f mark....
  18. some of the cheap ebay skirts can deffinately raise fish though the hooks and set up usually let you down, change the leader and hooks with good quality items and bobs ya uncle... Though nothing beats quallity gear.
  19. MY 195kg mako nearly came in the boat when it exploded out of the water not 2 meters from the back of the boat ....
  20. Gday luke, best bet for a beer and feed would be in town not much in durras. there are several good resturants . On The Peir on the north side of the bridge is the go if your after seafood and is a great setting for dinner with the missus. on the otherhand the marriners offers cook your own steak and plenty of beers, which is in the main St. on the drift for the snapperto cover a bit more ground though if you find a good patch stick to it. Bad luck on the weekend Croyden what were you trolling ? we have been getting plenty of action on small dark skirts in purple and silver over the past few weeks plenty of albys out to 25kg ( see Frigates Report) and a fin ... Hope to find a good patch of fin this weekend for the girls trip out. FRIGATE will be on 94 Where you traveling from Luke ? Good luck Luke give us a call if ya need anything Bayley (Team Frigate)
  21. Hi Guys/Girls we have a spare spot on our boat to fish the series of comps along the south coast NSW from Bermi possibly merimbula to Port Stephens, We fish out of Batemans Bay and you would need to join the BBGFA. would be nice to have someone keen to fish the majority of the summer comps and be part of a competitive team. would be nice if they had their own gear but not essential, and willing to share costs. PM Me if anyone is keen for some action and to get some results? Cheers
  22. 25kg on 8 im pritty sure that you would have betten me Stu! Cant wait for the tourney!!!!! Frigate all the way ....
  23. Yeah Makos aro as good as Shark gets, frezzes well, im not a big fish eater so i gave most of it away and kept some for berly next time im out ...
  24. [attachmentid=34109]Hi guys would just like to mention what a great weekend myself and some mates had up at Jervis over the long weekend. Although the weather was lousy, the ocean was good, water temp better and plenty of fish. the early start on Sat morning produced plenty of albys on the trol all between 5 and 10kg, good fun on light gearin the late arvo on finding a patch of 18degC we picked up 1 small YFT at 10kg final count at teh end of the day 17 albys and 1 TFT. Sunday with the rain gone and the sea flattening off the morning troll seamed a little slower with only 3 albys by 10am. so we decided to set up and cube just north of the bay where we found 18deg the day before. with a solid berly trail out the back and a nice slow drift we managed several more albys and a 25kg alby on 8kg gear. soon after we encounted 3 makos at the back of the boat estimated to be about 100kgs, with a bait rigged and put out the back we were on (gotta love the clasic backflipping Makos) we lost that shark at the boat after about 45mins fighting. Not long after another mako was at the boat, everyone would agree an awsome sight to see. Another bait rigged and put out saw us hooked up again not long after. 2 hrs 15minutes later and 15mile off course saw us with teh Mako at the boat estenmated at 150kg we kept it. Biggest prob was it wouldnt fit in the boat..... at the end of the day 10 albys and 1 BIG mako.... By teh time we reacked the boat ramp it was 845pm.. a shot tussel at the ramp had ithe Mako in the Boat.. Much thanks to Simmo and Terry at the Jervis Bay Gamefishing club for assisting us in weighing it on Monday, with out you we were dreading dragging it out of the boat. Final weigh in was 195kg 18hrs after capture. Well done to our crew on FRIGATE too.. Not a bad effort in a 6 meter trailer boat. Again thanks to Jervis Bay GFC we look forward to your torny in a few weeks, Great spot
