  2. Thanks Scoop Shame that you only looked at that forum by "accident". When that poll was started (16 dec 2008) it actually was posted across all forums and I did a mass mailout to all 11,000 odd registered members to ensure that they saw it and voted. The results and comments have been sent to all the political party representatives and other interested persons and it has has 14,000 odd views. People that are interested in news and politics will always seek out that information. Please take some time to look at all the forum area headings and use your settings to set up the "view new content" to ensure that you don't miss current activity. I bumped that post for you anyway scoop mrsswordfisherman
  3. Thanks George. This initiative is the first of its kind on an Australian fishing website and will be a strategic partnership in an effort to reduce vessel and marine related theft. Watch for its launch in August, we have a couple of meetings to sort through some stuff then away we go.
  4. In August there will be a new initiative on fishraider to do with vessel theft. Watch this space. mrsswordfisherman

  6. We did the same last week. Went to a well known harbour spot to fish for luderick and a guy comes along and greets us. Intros were done and then he said he had been reading about the spot on a great fishing website and then he told us it was called fishraider . you can imagine his delight when we told him we were the owners of fishraider, swordfisherman and mrsswordfisherman It was lovely to meet you Brendan and hope you went on to your other spots and caught plenty that day . There are raiders everywhere you go these days and they are all terrific people

  8. There was a post in fishing reports yesterday that included a picture of an alleged catch by the poster. This picture was actually published in several local newspapers on the South Coast (Narooma News, Illawarra Mercury etc) in January 2009. The story was about an illegal kingfish catch in Shellharbour. Read about it at the link below. CLICK HERE There were many comments, emails and pm's sent to us about this member and his fallacious post. Most people wanted fishraider admin to send this info to the authorities. I would like to thank members for bringing to our attention any issues. Fishraider admin and moderators work very hard to keep this forum a source of credible information. We are very quick to act on any issues that we see during our zealous monitoring of the posted information. This issue was picked up very quickly and investigated. It is important that issues are investigated before action is taken. The outcome today is that the member has been removed from this forum and is banned. Thank you to all again for helping to keep fishraider the best fishing forum. mrsswordfisherman (on behalf of admin and moderation team)

  12. Thanks SwampyWolf Have your say in the poll POLL ON LIFEJACKETS
  13. Please read the whitepaper found at the link below before voting in this poll. LIFEJACKET REFORMS Background The primary purpose of any lifejacket is to increase safety. They assist the wearer to float – and ultimately can prevent them from drowning. For this to be achieved the lifejacket must be: • the correct type for the situation • the right size • correctly maintained • accessible, and • worn. Simply carrying lifejackets on board vessels does not save lives because capsize, man-overboard, or other unexpected situations occur suddenly and without warning. Locating and donning lifejackets once in the water can be difficult or impossible, depending on the experience of those involved and other factors such as current, wave action and/or water temperature. Wearing a lifejacket does not always prevent a fatality, but even when it doesn't it can help with the recovery operation and reduce risk for emergency services. An early recovery also reduces distress for the family and friends of a missing person. There are many factors that contribute to a boating fatality and it is impossible to conclude absolutely that wearing a lifejacket would save a person's life in the event of a boating incident. However, there is an international consensus amongst boating safety organisations that a person's chance of survival can be dramatically increased. Please add any constructive comments as the results of this poll will be sent to Maritime and relevant bodies. I will also be requesting that fishraider members be involved in any future public consultation. mrsswordfisherman
