  1. Slinky, Thanks again, great day as usual. One day we will get past the Squid grounds, but I am not in any hurry. Just about to have salt and pepper Squid now. Cheers Brett
  2. Hey Tony, Looks like a nice day out, and sounds like you had fun. Back from hols now and look forward to catching up soon. Cheers Brett
  3. Manly no chance. Their best halfback is freezing his nuts off in Warrington and their best five eigth is getting a sun tan in Nth Qld
  4. Great day out, it was nice to meet some of the raiders. Shame about spot X and for that matter, y,z and every other spot in the harbour. Had plenty of fresh squid and Yakka's, but no result. Congrats to the succesful Raiders. Spent a nice hour or so with Stumpy floating around Roseville ramp waiting to get the boats out. Was surprised not to see any ramp rage considering the delays and the couple who decided to pull their 5m Quinnie up on the ramp and leave it there for about 1/2 an hour while they waited for their trailer. Thanks again Slinky and Little Slinky for an enjoyable (but fishless) day out. Was great to see Stumpy's young fella get into it. Was talking to Slinky and wondering if there was any chance of a junior fisho's record section on the site, say under 16. We would have our first entry right there. Cheers Brett
  5. Went to Tigers v Roosters on Sat night. Even though they lost, they looked pretty good, and played the first half with their reserve grade team +Hodgo, Fulton and Halatau. Saw some glimpses of 2005 in their attack. If someone could get a nailgun and attatch Benji's shoulders to his body, they might be in for a good year.
  6. G'day mate, I was with Slinky on Saturday, nice looking boat and congrats on your results. Cheers Brett
  7. Tony, We probably have about 200kg on her, so I think we should be able to talk her out of the squid. Although, when it comes to the talking part, nobody comes close to her. I think every boat on the harbour knew she caught a king today, good on her. Cheers Brett
  8. I cooked some of the fish we caught today, and I preferred the bait board prepared sample. I shallow fried it in flour and lemon and corriander herbs. It tasted ok, but not great. Any ideas on how to cook it better? Or should I just not bother and just keep chewing on them straight out of the water? Cheers Brett
  9. Thanks again for the day Tony, It was great to get my first couple of legal Kings, and to see Gemma have some success also. I was a bit cautious when the sashimi came out as I have always lived by the don't eat bait theory, but it was extremely good. Cheers Brett

    Kingfish Social

I will be there as a decky with Slinkymalinky. This will be my first social. Looking forward to meeting other raiders. Cheers Brett
  11. I bpught a Saratoga rod once and I got what I paid for. First time it got snagged up, it snapped in half. Not sure about the line, but I wont go near any saratoga gear again. Cheers Brett
  12. I have discussed this with Slinkymalinky on a few recent trips and have found mono fishing line may result in more captures. We are both fishing for squid with mono now and rarely drop them. Hope this helps Cheers Brett
  13. Hey Gemma, Great to see you showing up your Dad. Great work. I may need you to teach my Jessica how to fish. I took her for a fish this morning and she caught 5 bream ranging from about 10cm to 15 cm. Cheers Brett
  14. Nice one Gemma (the smile) and the fish too. Cheers Brett
  15. Thanks for the day out. I was stoked to get my best kingy (63cm and undersize, but it is a start). Hope to be there to see the look on young jemma's face when she does get that first King. She was a pleasure to fish with yesterday and for a 6 year old girl to be out for 10 hrs, not catch a fish (other than squid, which has my vote for FOTM ) and not complain, in fact wanted to stay until she got a Kingfish is a credit to you and a great start to a fishing career. Cheers Brett
  16. I have heard spot X is very reliable, although I am yet to catch one there yet. Good Luck Brett
  17. Nice pic's mate, It would be nice to see a king next to those. Cheers Brett
  18. I have been fishing a couple of times recently with fellow raider Slinkymalinky and have found some spots just by looking for shoreline areas with weed and a bit of sand. Rocky shorelines also seem to be successful. Most of the shoreline in north harbour is pretty suitable. We have found our own spots on the last 2 trips and have caught squid each time. Cheers Brett
  19. Thanks for a great day out again, really enjoyed it . It is just unfortunate that I now have to kill you so that spot X is not revealed. By the way, if I do kill you, can I have your boat. Cheers Brett
  20. Thanks Josh, I will have to try again. Cheers Brett
  21. G'day Josh, Were you just on the jetty? I went there the other night and didn't get any sqiud. It was the first time that I have tried down there. Cheers Brett
  22. Hi all, Heading away for easter to Port Macquarie. I have never really fished there and will be mostly land based, but may hire a boat for a day. Can anybody give me any advice on where to start. Probably chasing bream and flathead on plastics. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Brett
