  1. What do you mean by Ice Jigs?- Is that a brand or are you talking about using lures/jigs through ice covered lakes- and Lake St Clair- you are talking Tassie?...sorry if I am sounding like an idiot?
  2. Good to see a great feed from my neck of the woods!....nothing wrong with this post!
  3. Armor all does work well, but not exactly great for the water environment. Loon make some good cleaners with a funny little device that you run the line thru, and not too expensive. I guess it boils down to how often you use your line, the cost of the line ( i.e: if a SA or Cortland line then yeah clean....) but if a cheapy one - replace. I have in the past used Armorall, I basically run the line thru a cloth soaked with AA, then place line in a med ziplock and spray the line in it again, leave it o/nite and then run thru cloth again, usually does a good job, but I use the loon My 2 cents worth....
  4. Mako, you rock!. Love the GoPro HD helmet cam, have also thought of getting one myself!. Excellent field report, hope other Raiders follow suit and submit reports like this, cause these kind of reports are pure joy to read. Would love to get into Yaks, but have too many other addictions at the moment and I'd have a hard time convincing the boss that (we) need one. keep it up!. Matt
  5. when will the streak end?! -well done
  6. "too cold for DSLR"- lol Greg you don't know what cold is! well done Mister, keep it up!
  7. STEWIE+FLY FISHING = WINNING!
  8. You can get these: WILLIAM JOSEPH FLY FISHING WST Waders. They have a huge CO2 cylinder bladder just like a normal self inflating PFD
  9. Nice one Greg!, Awesome to see you getting out there....if only I could get you to Kanangra!!!. Keep up the good work, and when will we see a fly report from you from there?!. Cheers, Matt
  10. If you can "justify" them , will last forever - SIMMS.
  11. Hesus!- I'm moving there tomorrow.....LOL
  12. Mate save your days off, and join me at Kanangra in a few months when the action will be crazy!
  13. Reese, So I guess the big question is...... so no more fishing for you, just tying and maybe going back to Uni to do a degree in Entomology...LOL. Good effort, keep it up. P.S - You should post the one's that never lived.... Cheers, Nanook
  14. Mate are you pulling our legs????. Those flies look really well done- LOL, you should also post the one's that got away... Nice clousers and things. You should change your name to Muz Wilson or Felty!. Excellent flies- keep up the good work!
  15. Nice one Berta, Good to see Keith is doing well, and even better to see him training. Wow - you even came down here to fish on our turf, to what do we owe the honor?.....LOL
  16. Nice pics LA, Is that the stones down near whale Beach - where you walk down between the houses?. Like the reel you are using. Great photos!
  17. WOW!, Yes you are right Roberta, would be interesting to find out how long it takes to make them.. I bet this person that makes them is one of those fly persons that has gone to university to do a degree in Entemology, never fishes anymore, just makes crazy good flies, spends every spare moment photographing, videoing, and watching insects. Hahaha - there are many of us who are that obsessed etc, but this is just one og those people tht make it their mission in life to produce the most realistic ( yet probably too time consuming and not enough revenue for the effort). Good to see you are spending time on the net researching fly fishing........ M xxx
  18. You made my day by showing me those monster Carp. Such an underrated fish- they pull hard ( especially on fly) and are not that easy to catch sometimes. Well done and go the Carp. Maybe you can yak in the Cox's for the next year and clean a few out from there- they are as big as Sturgeon down there!
  19. I've done 2 trips this year ( 7 days, and 6 days) so far to Kanangra/Cox's. Lots of huge Carp in the Cox's- nothing big in Kanangra. Lot's of Yabbies, and the water is absolutely great for swimming in. The river/stream has good flow, and unbelievable amount of insect life around. found hundreds of bright yellow frogs about 10cm in length every night right by the stream. So many March flies that you literally get imprisoned in your tent. I think I also have permanent hearing damage from the Cicada's, and last trip almost got nailed by a massive brown or tiger right at my campsite ( ended up moving to the rocky shore of Kanangra). I'd be very surprised to find any decent trout up there now- the water is just too warm.
  20. Oh the joys of living in a growing city of 4.5 million. Now maybe you know why I walk in to remote places. Unfortunately one of the associated "costs" of living in big cities is having to put up with selfish people- if not on the water, then on the roads, and the supermarket, etc.
  21. Mrs Captin has the last word - maybe you should have got some Ponstan or Mefenamic Acid instead!....LOL!
