  1. Narra Lake Caravan Side- surely!
  2. A "rooted back" will always make you do wild things....well done landlord!
  3. Thanks for the report mate- I have literally dreamed of going to PNG to chase these rod destroyers after reading that Lefty Kreh said they are the hardest pulling fish he has ever chased. Thanks for the motivation!
  4. Really sorry to hear this news Ray. Keep your chin up, and wish you all the best. Condolences, Matt
  5. LOL MTCOLAH!!!!!!!!!- " exploding eggbeaters", Chasing big pigs on an eggbeater- good, go for it- just like taking big Groper on an eggbeater, or fighting insurgents with 5.56!- FAILATHON! any rockhopper knows the reason to use an Alvey and not a Stella - 1:1 ratio. Sure you can catch pigs on heavy gear etc, but using the right eqpt and the required line etc will give you better chances and more fun Big Pigs on the stones are akin to Surgeons on 8lb Blackie gear, or Bones on 8 wts with light tippet in ankle deep H20 in Seychelles P.S- That big pig is like those bast*%$s on Angry Birds Seasons Greedings level 1-19 !!!!!!
  6. Holy Mackeral - those are "chernobyl" sized Salmon!
  7. Nathan, hahahahha - 10lb line on pigs- you are nuts. 30lb tortue line, good knots, strong hooks and then you will nail them. Not to say you won't catch them on lighter gear- but the big Sows - they will dive deep instantly and try and bust you off, so locking the alvey and holding on is the required deeds. Pigs are awesome fun
  8. Nice one mate- always good to see catches from our neck of the woods- keep those photos and reports coming!
  9. now u gotta give up the internet addiction
  10. Well peoples - lets talk/email and figure out a date etc for a flyday for all raiders, including teaching new members and members that want to get into fly fishing but don't either know how or don't have the gear etc- I have 3 outfits- lets figure something out along with Stewie and Raider!
  11. sorry caddis - You must know by now I am almost "prejudice" towards the fly and lure segment on the site. I'm not an aficiniando of normal fishing per se - but can appreciate it. I've done my time on the wharfs, beaches etc, and fly- especially fast, tight streams is my juice for now Keep bringing those reports and I hope that all us Wandmen - you, me, Irongustavus, troutboy,Luderickangler, Centerpin, et al can make a Raider fly day happen next year. Great report, and photos - keep it up , soon we will convince the rest that fly fishing is not just a elite sport but everyone can do and afford. Love your work!. M
  12. Bombora- you are worrying way too much mate! Go there- experience the dam, learn how and where to fish, and no matter if you are at TCD or anywhere else- being able to fish, learn and overcome "obstacles"- are part of the whole ongoing learning curve of fishing. Even if a Tsunami with snow goes thru there- if you can fish in those conditions you are on your way to becoming a better fisherman. Enjoy the drive, the exploration, the challenge and adventure. Cheers, Matt
  13. Irongustavivus was there too yesterday - ask him how he did....heheheheheh!
  14. Gluck morgen und hoffe, Sie fangen viele Fische und die Kalte dich nicht umbringt, und sie machen den Fuhrer stolz!
  15. Nice fish!, and love the fishing attire!
  16. It's a Blenny, don't know what type though....lol caught loads of these at Bobbin Head when I was a kid!
  17. Nice Bream and good photos- keep them coming!
  18. Right on Angus, Great photos- that old cobblestone bridge looks fantastic- very aesthetically pleasing! Pity about not bagging out- but on fly, it matters not how many you land, it is about making great casts, seeing rises, listening to the stream running, the birds chortling, spending times with friends and exploring. Thanks for the report and photos. Matt
  19. Geez your hair is getting long Greg.... One day I will con you into "real" fishing
  20. Great report, shame I couldn't tag along. That brown certainly is a beauty! Keep the reports coming in, I was wondering what has happened to all the wand-men here on Raider!. Cheers, Matt
  21. Silver Drummer for sure!
  22. Ok Mate- well I have like 10 + years experience with using ice jigs up in the Arctic- it isn't so much the jig, it is the action that you use to lure the fish, plus the available light- i.e: reflection of the lure off the available light from the hole. Fish in the winter month's are sluggish and want an easy meal,so they will be attracted to bright flashes adn of course realistic action of a lure. using lures that mimic the natural baitish that inhabit those lakes will be an advantage so if you don't know the ecosystem or heirachy of the lakes you are fishing- then find out,.just my 5c worth...good luck
