  1. Mondo if your interested where i got my bait send me a pm. I bought it from a tackle store, it was freshly caught then vacume sealed and then frozen, is about the best bait ive ever used and would reccomend it.
  2. You just cant beat the feeling of being on you own stretch with no one around, apart from the idiot on the quad motorcycle
  3. Well what a weekend, up bright and early saturday morning, was up at Stockton by 9:00am we decided to set camp and start fishing, my main aim was to pot around during the day and get serious by night fall high tide was midnight so perfect excuse to start exploring the wonders of jewfish fishing. Well the day was pretty average for me no bites but some of the other guys got a couple of salmon, once sunset started i set my self up down at the beach and plonked my first bait in no sooner had five minutes gone i had a bite come on strong and i struck, you ripper pulled up a salmon that weighed in 2.4kg my pb for a salmon, got another bait wated for half hour nothing so brought it in my squid was a little bit worse for wear so changed it for a fresh one by this stage it was getting to be around 10:15 waited about 10 mins then saw a little nibble, fed some line out got a little bit stronger fed some more the bite got stronger then i struck, awesome the fish was pulling hard then went slack i though i lost it so i started reeling in the slack when i still felt the fish on end i was still hopefull after 5 minutes of some spirited fighting i beached the fish and got my first look at my first ever jewfish . After that i tried for another but to no avail oh well one is better than none, it weghed in at 3.5kg uncleaned and 74cm in length, i was so stoked im hooked now on mulloway fishing of the beach, it was so scenic i had the moon rising to my left lighting storms in front, fireworks at newcastle and shooting stars overhead any way thats all for me ill hopefully post some pics in the coming weeks
  4. This is quite a can of worms, having a wife who doesnt like eating fish and doesnt like roughing it out a bit can have its drawbacks i wouldnt mind going fishing with my wife but she chooses not to which is fine, i think where it gets difficult is when you a have a female who wants to come out but doesnt realy quite expect the art of fishing which can rely on throwing some of our aquired manners out the door its a shame but some females can cope others cant, eitherway its up to the individual to decide whats best and if a lady cant handle that enviroment then its clear cut she shouldnt go and another option for us blokes who have wives is to mix a little have serious fishing days with buddies but also have days where you can take your wife out somewhere a little more comfortable
  5. Hi guys last month i headed up to stockton beach for some beach fishing, it was mainly a get the feel sort of trip fortunatly im heading up there for the weekend again with the fishing club and i intend on targeting mulloway, i need info on what rig setup up is best, ive heard running rigs through to patternoster, and just need to know what works and what doesnt, i prefer the patternoster due to the fact pickers are less likely to demolish the bait as quick as a running rig, then to bait i am thinking of bringing frozen squid and salted pilchards, any ifo and pics would be greatly appreciated and where to purchase quality baits.
  6. Hi guys ive actual done a bit of research a couple of months ago on the web and found there is an electronic device you can buy not sure how much but it straps to your wrist like a watch and you place a little bit of this clear gunk on your wrist prior to strapping it, and it sends tiny electrical signals to the brain, see when you get sick your eyes, ears and legs arnt working in a synchronising matter that is coordinating even messages to the brain so what then happens is your brain gets confused and thats when you start to get sick this device mearly calms the signals down and you dont get sick.
  7. Yea it was a bit tough out there Joe, but it was still good to be out there givn it a go, many thanks for the day it was good to be out n about and good to see fellow raiders out there, hopefully things only get better from here on
  8. Yeah i find you just put a container under any air conditioner and collect the water in a couple of bottles, also to keep my battery alive while not in use i simply attach a solar panel to the battery at home, it just trickle charges the battery so there is no need to worry about it overcharging and you simply give them a good charge the night before heading out.
  9. Hi all, if you need to top up your battery fluid instead of using tap water or going out to buy distilled water use the water that comes out of any air conditioner its free and is just as good as distilled water.
  10. Hi guys yea there were a few people fishing stockton but its not hard to find a gutter to fish all by yourself. I ended up using a paternoster style in the deeper gutters which consisted of 20pound main line with 30 pound half metre trace to 3 way swivel then another half metre to a no 3 or 4 star sinker at the three way i had roughly 30cm 30 pound line going to a 6/0, using pillies, it was my first time beach fishing and wont be my last
  11. Hi guys My weekend was tops, we had planned a weekend fishing at stockton beach organised courtesy through the fishing club im with, well let me first say this was my first beach fishing session and what a learning curve it was, we started first by meeting up the the mobil there were 4 blokes all up including me and one of the other guys brought his son on his first fishing trip, we headed to the shallower end of stockton beach first around the rocks, i threw in some bait while another bloke i was with ended up coming trumps on a 1.5kg flattie which was his first and biggest flattie on soft plastics . After an hour of mooching around the shallower end we ended up going further down the beach to find some deep gutters, when we found a good spot we pulled up and decided we would camp at that spot as well it was getting around 2:00pm so we got some lines in the water and waited, well by 4:00pm something big slammed my rod and went berserk i slowly played the fish and after 5 minutes i landed a nice 2kg australian salmon i was stoked it was one of the biggest fish and first salmon ive ever caught, we then set up camp and did a bit of night fishing, well 2nd bait in the water my rod bent over again and a small tailor was landed it amzes me how small it was yet it wolfed down a whole pilchard. after 10 minutes the other bloke next to me went tight and pulled in another salmon about 1.5kg, so with high hopes we kept on going then that same guy went tight again and pulled in a nice 4 kg school jewie , by this stage it was getting close to eleven and thought it was time to hit the sack, in the morning i found out that same guy on our trip had stayed back during the night and came up with another salmon that topped mine at 2.2kg, well thats fishing, we tried a little in the morning but the westerly started so we decided to call it quits. I would reccomend a trip up there if you have access to a four wheel drive it is just an exellent beach to fish.
  12. If you want up to date info check out www.bom.gov.au, they are pretty up to date with weather forecasts and you can check all sorts of weather related info for different days, Hopefully the winds wont be as bad as the last weekend, its hard to get out with small alluminium boats when its blowing.
  13. I havent done much in the way of using plastics not until i can afford a proper rod and reel setup till then im sticking to bait but i have heard stimulates which have garlic and aniseed work realy well, ive seen one product called Spike it - dip and glow unfortunatly i dont know how well they work.
  14. Hi there everyone, My weekend will be getting house chores done on Saturday with the , then saturday night and if weather permitting will be out fishing with the fishing club on Sunday morning around Hawkesbury Good luck to every one and have a safe weekend
  15. congrats on the bream, mate i dont think there is a secret, just a little practice although i have seen on various fishing shows they dip the tail in some attractant i think called goop . Good luck
  16. Ive just read in the newspaper the salmon are boiling up in Sydney unfortunatly there are still idiots trolling through the middle of them, this is shame so seeing as there are alot of members on this site plus alot of visitors please WATCH WHERE YOU ARE GOING! I can speak for most of us who are members and who are corteouse but those who continue to disregard other fishos as stated in the newspaper will be getting a shower of lead.
  17. Hi i was wondering if someone could give me a few tips in regards to what lures to use for trolling at lake windamere, im heading there with the fishing club im with and never realy fished freshwater, any help would be greatly appreciated. Im hoping to troll for yellowbelly.
  18. Good to see you had good day. Im new to Botany Bay and would like to know where Bonner Point is and where the hot water outlet is.
  19. well my day started at 4:30 wake up, headed over to botany bay. I started the day by watching a great sunrise and decided to head over to molinaux point, over the course of a couple of hours i got a good burly trail going and coaxed for trevally to bite not the best but its better than being at home in bed i kept one which measured around 40 cm. After that i tried kurnell oil wharf and scored a couple of undersize bream snapper and flatheads. After that i headed back to the ramp and home, all in all it was a good day. The only i had was the inconsiderate people who were going full boar in between molinaux point and the boats anchored, i dont think its too hard for people to come around and find a spot behind the boats any way . Ill definatly be heading back there during summer.
  20. Hi everyone, Im just seeing if anyone knows how Botany Bay is fishing at the moment, im heading there on Sunday if the doesnt complain, and am just seeing if its worth heading there.
  21. I think the best solution is to see if you can score a boat with a four stroke, i used to own allot of two stroke dirt bikes and it gets to be a pain in the arse, also you have to be carful as to what type of oil you use, ie synthetic or castor based????? It all gets very confusing, so if you can get a four stroke, i spent a little bit extra and got my self a honda 15 four stroke for my 3.55 tinnie and havnt had one hiccup, its just a matter of filling up and getting in the water, also the fumes from two strokes gets up my nose.
  22. Well it started off to be bloody cold but the prospects of catching sambos for my first time over come that. Well i met up with John (jj sydney) unfortunatly he had some electrical gremlins on the boat that just coudnt be sorted . Lucky for me Darryl and Ankles came to rescue and offered a spot on board thanks, guys. Its a shame to see these little things come to surface esspecially when everything was checked the night before you just cant help murphys law when it wants to appear. Oh well better luck next time John. So off we went, and it looked like it was going to be a glorious day, we started off by doing a bit of trolling just past North Head all the way to Blue Point (I think) at Manly with no luck, then we got the plastics and metals out and still no good then came the one hit in Darryls rod, it was a good fight and after a bit of tusseling a kingie surfaced and was boated it was just on legal so congrats to Darryl, we then proceeded back to North Head with a bit more trolling and came up with nothing so we then headed to clontarf park where i met allot of the other fishraiders and had a couple of beers. Good to see the turnout was big. Thanks Darryl for the boat ride i had a great day and ankles who showed me a couple of tips.
  23. Ill be up for an intro day, i quite like hawkesbury and any tips would be good.
  24. im presuming the block is in between the cylinder head and the carby, if so depending how loose the remaing bolts are will depend how much air is going through, if they are slightly loose you will find the mixture will lean out due to the air entering in between and not going through the carb. If you are concerned about them coming loose again just use a small amount of loctite on the threads, in fact loctite is fairly good for any bolts/screws which are prone to vibration. EDIT Sorry i mis read your post, what bluecod said is right they would be part of your carby throats, i still would reccomend using loctite.
  25. Hi everyone, Just thought id let people know that there was no hairtail to be caught on Saturday night I was staying on a houseboat in Jerusalem Bay, and got to move around a few hours at night on my boat. Good news is there is plenty of yellowtail to be caught for live bait and there is plenty of Garfish around but they werent biting at all. All in all it was a great weekend and the weather was great, i think if the water temp was a little warmer it might have got the fish biting. This was my first time in Cowan Creek and it definately wont be my last, once it warms up it should have some good action in there.
