  5. Ive finaly got a chance to go fishing the bay after months of not being able to due to work commitments, one thing i hear is the bait grounds in botany bay where in botany bay does this refer to if it isnt too top secret, im new to Botany my last outing was the Jewfish night in Botany Bay, and that was my first time out there so any help would be greatly appreciated.
  6. Headed out to Newport beach with gusto, tide was high at 9:54pm was there at 8:00pm, just as got everything ready to start going down to the beach i met up with a local who swore blind that there was too much weed , what to do listen to local or try my hand hmm reluctanly packed everything up and decided on plan b. Cut a long story short i ended up a palmy with fairly good conditions ended being pretty qiuet on the Jew front but ended up with a greedy surf bream which weighed 500grams cleaned and 36 cm in length that scoffed a whole squid .. Was there for a total of 3 hours with no more bites, oh well such is fishing but at least i had next days lunch sorted
  7. Congrats on the boat, be looking forward to being your deckie one day. Would also be a great chance to see what the poly goes like. tight lines and hopefully this weather will clear up for you mate
  8. Hey sammy, the one on my boat is the eagle cuda as previosly mentioned it doesnt do certain things but siuprisingly still comes up with good pictures of the bottom, cant remember if you know what it looks like.
  9. Thats the same idea me and my mate had david, we didnt want the burden of an old boat and decided to go to a 3.55 sea-jay with 15 four stroke on the back, time after time i see people at boat ramps with either starting problems or trying to man handle the boat on their own without having experiance, the only downside i find is the size but it still does the job and maintaince is a breeze, quick rinse with soap then water, service on the motor every 50 hours, sammy dont despair to much, maybe you should be a deckie for a while and experiance different size boats im sure people would only be too glad to share their thoughts on their own boats and it will give you a feel for what you are after.
  10. yea i guess we did, still the lightning show was pretty cool and seeing other raiders out there giving it a go as well.
  11. Mate thats a shame to hear that, by the way thanks for the company on Sat night shame no fish were caught but thats fishing.
  12. Ist all good intentions no need to apoligise, its just a shame we have to resort to going to extremes just to protect what belongs to us. No one has the right to do what these people do only thing that makes me calm is realising that what these low lifes do now they will get theres later on somewhere somehow.
  13. Maybe he could do a special for all fish raiders who go that way, sure would beat getting your car broken into
  14. thanks for that makes life easier when you have a map. ill probably launch at kyeemagh boat ramp and meet everyone at the beach around five.
  15. Im a little bit confused as to what beach we are meeting at once you enter the bay which side will it be is it the western shore or eastern shore, ive never been to botany before, im hoping ill have a radio thats if some one on this website has one for sale at a reasonable price.
  16. ive got the company of sammy as a deckie, welcome aboard.
  17. Mate there is a place ive been recommended too on Old Northern Road by members from the fishing club im with, pm me and ill let you know where they are at. Ive heard they are realy good with servicing.
  18. Ill be more than happy to be in it, ill probably have room for one as it is only a twelve footer so anyone wanting to be a deckie pm me.
  19. Congrats on the boat rebuild looks pretty good, i myself have a twelve footer sea jay and is pretty good in terms of size one idea ive had but havent yet got around to is there are these large bait boxes you can buy from Bias Boating and i was thinking of cutting a hole on top of the bench seat, dig some of the foam out and placing one of these boxes in there, they have a thick fange on top so it will sit nicely in there and you can use the lid as a cutting board plus the foam will insulate the box if you have drinks or bait etc.
  20. Im looking at doing a beach stint this wednesday night ive heard whale beach is good, what other northern beaches are good haunts for jewfish, also if someone wants to tag along let me know im more than happy to take someone to keep me company . I live in the Blacktown area. Sorry correction not Wednesday Friday night
  21. Hey all, just read in the paper that story about the ban on eating fish from the harbour, they dont give much information as to what species is affected and how long, its a shame though Sydney Harbour is a popular spot for fishos. Whats everyones views will this mean you fish elsewhere to get a feed or just go catch and release, my other querie is if Sydney Harbour is this polluted how do our other areas fair, look at Botany Bay its surrounded by factories and high commercial activity???? I think we should get the full report of what our waterways are realy like this probably is another example of where our fishing licence funds can and should contribute too.
  22. Great catch fellas, bet they would have tasted great with . Where were you guys fishing at .
  23. Yeah unfortunatly the north easterly started on Saturday night then when i started fishing around 9:00pm it stopped till about half an hour after i caught my jewie which was around 11:30 then the bloody south easterly started and it was near on impossible fishing so i called it quits, the rest of the team did a bit on Sunday morning, same thing though that southerly was just blowing seaweed and was pretty hard to fish, theres not much you can do though just bear it and grin it.
  24. Gday, an idea ive got but yet to put to action is you can buy big bait boxes from local boat shop cut a hole in one of your bench seats and slide it in provided its a tiller steer, the other good thing is if you have foam for buoyancy inside your seats it will act as a good insulator and then place a portable aerator inside or use it as an esky
