  1. After dragging some Rapala cd7's around I noticed one of them was tracking to the right and blowing out, at over 4.5 knots. How does one retune these things? The towing eye is part of the stainless bib. Do I just bend the whole bib or ??
  2. Hitting White Bay both days , unfortunatley I'll be stuck inside a crane unloading gypsum . The up side is RDO's all next week
  3. The weather looks pretty lousy so fishing is out . I don't mind the rain but the wind makes for a miserable day when your chucking lures. For something a bit different I decided to drag the family to a photo-art exhibition by Ron and Val Taylor on sharks. Have a look here. My reels will get a quick 'once over' and lube, including lapping the drags on some new 4000 stradics I plan to use on harbour kings next season. Might even polish the boat if doesn't find me a job or two
  4. Alewife and Black ice Joe. Ken, I wanted to try the salmon fish cakes but the processor is in storage (we're moving) and the salmon wern't that big so recipe # one it was. I made a hash of filletting the fish too , have to ask one of you guys to show me how on the day.
  5. Joe , I said nothing about tasting the result myself Pedro, 6" Slug Go's did the trick.
  6. Carried out a lure tuning session this morning for one lone tailor. No school salmon were evident, but I picked up two tossing lures into the wash between Bluefish and North Head. Plenty of small kingies followed the lures and we sighted some dead cuttlefish floating about. The North Head sea eagle menaced a trolled 9" Slug-Go and fortunately missed the hook. I'm trying one of Pedro's salmon recipes tonight Cheers Bill
  7. HI Choco I started fishing, lure only, four years ago. Predominately soft plastics. These last four years have been my most productive both in size and quantity for most species. Come to think of it's closer to five years and I haven't touched a bait Oh, and my keyboard can't spell fa' sheet either . Try this site for a small spell correcting download. Cheers Bill
  8. Hi Alltalk I own eight FH's , you better take that as a yes Cheers Bill
  9. SPRUNG Geez, a fella can't go anywhere without being spotted Hi Joe, Cid and I enjoyed a nice morning as well with enough fish coming over the side to keep it interesting Cheers Bill

    Transducer Switch

Ozy I run transducer selection switches off a Matrix 37 and they work fine. Have you considered using another sounder base? If so, I should have a new one for sale in a week or two. Cheers Bill
  11. I appreciate the time and effort spent on your report. (tongue firmly in cheek) Cheers Bill
  12. Just for the record the Humminbird Martix series sounders do not have a metric/imperial menu option when purchased from the U.S.A. Cheers Bill

HERCHOICE THREETAONE Were you fishing the bay over the last few days in the boat from your avatar? Anchored just off the container wharf at one point? Cheers Bill
  14. Certainly a solid fish Alex , was there a school busting up or just the lone fish? Cheers Bill
  15. 30 packets Joe, at that price who could resist they work just fine too Cheers Bill

  17. Beaut fish Joe They also eat well cold after being wrapped in cheese cloth and simmered in a pot full of herbs and vegie peelings. Serve with a salad and dunk chunks of the fish into a light mayo, then wash down with a good beer. YUMMM Cheers Bill
  18. Pogo A simple solution to your current situation can be found in your local yellow pages. Just look under solar power . Cheers Bill
  19. Hi Pogo To answer the question, from what I've learnt. The rotary charger is the 'perfect' method to charge Sonnenschein gel-cell batteries. It will deliver maximum acceptable amps to the gel-cell and then reduce the charge as required. Which is fine if you can run the engine for the required time to recharge the battery. My boat runs twin Sonnenshein A500's/115Amp to a RT74AP which are charged by a 3 bank Guest 2631-230 onboard charger. After the boat is washed down, the power lead is connected and turned on. Thats it . The charger services the gell-cells and the 'wet' crank/house batteries, charges them fully and keeps them topped up for the next trip. I also run a Voltage Sensitive Relay between the house and crank batteries with an emergency parrallel switch, just in case. The V.S.R. must be removed or bypassed from the circuit so it is not 'seen' by the charger as it will reduce the battery voltage sensed by the charger. This will cause the charger to increase its output and cook your battery. This is bad My research showed we are limited in Aus by the lack of suitable (not ideal for the task) chargers. I imported what I considered the best of the bunch to suit my needs. According to my research not recharging fully on the 'same day' of discharge is the biggest killer of gell-cells. To be blunt, charging from the outboard as you suggest will fit this description to a "T". The batteries can handle some variation in input voltage and amperage, but to under charge them is certain early death. Follow the link for some information on Sonnenshein and Deka charging. Cheers Bill
  20. Jaso I don't brace mine, but the thing does flog around a helluva lot and I wonder about the coiled wiring breaking prematurely. When towing, I velcro strap the coiled cable to the shaft to reduce the movement and run a strap to stop the motor moving forward out of its cradle and through my rear wind screen . Cheers Bill

  22. How about ALUREIN , it was my second choice for the Full Boar. Better yet , ALLURIN Cheers Bill
  23. Narra, Dead set , you're posting about this salmon again . Mate, if it was my catch I'd post in the SMH, I fished the following three weeks in the Hacking system and my daughter was smashed up big time, but once. Once was enough, she didn't stand Buckley's against the fish from hell We were trolling 6" SlugGos and 3" BassMinnows along Wanda. Narra, good luck to 'ya' mate, and a great photo to boot. Cheers Bill

    Boat Insurance

Jethro, I insured Sniffin with Club Marine after doing the ring around. They were slightly more expensive than NRMA but knew the answers to all my questions regarding engine o/heats due to picking up a plastic bag and theft related problems. They knew what a Minn-Kota and GPS map plotter were too, unlike NRMA I haven't needed to make a claim 'touch wood'. Cheers Bill
  25. Matt Go back to your battery retailer and ask for a specification sheet from the battery manufacturer. Many batteries, require different min/max charging voltages and thats before you start to think about min/max amp hour rates. Cheers Bill
