    New Sp Outfit

I have the 6'6" rack raider teamed with a shimano sedona 1500. I'm very happy with the combo, it's handled everything with ease including a 7lb Jew. Cheers, neil
  2. Not sure I agree with his approach. I generally take what I can eat that day or the next. Just my opinion.
  3. I have two or three favourite spots, depending on wind , levels etc. On the south side just to the non-ocean side of the bridge there's a nice hole where the whiting (& occasionally blackfish) queue up on a rising tide, especially at dusk. At this time of year with kids jumping off the bridge though....I'd wait until after school holidays. At the end of Winbledon Ave, there's a channel between the island and the mainland, this can be productive for bream and the odd flattie. The flats near the entrance of deep creek near the sports academy for flatties. The last two are not influenced by the tidal flow. Let us know how you go. Cheers, Neil
  4. Sure hope so - if the pros don't rape Pittwater again like they did last year....
  5. Heaps of work being done on the lake recently - they've closed the mouth and they're scooping out loads of sand and apparently going to deepen the lakes by a metre or so over what I understand to be a large part of it. The final result sounds promising as I think they're trying to get it fully tidal again (yay!) but not sure of the interim. Interesting about the bass - never heard of bass being caught in the lake - but have heard of plenty of EPs being pulled out of that very spot (not to mention deep creek and middle creek). Cheers, Neil
  6. I've had no success off the beaches over the last two weekends: 1st Oct dawn North Narrabeen with live poddies nothing, pillies nothing 2nd Oct after the southerly (about 15:00) at the south end of Warriewood, pillies, live worms, nothing 8th Oct dawn, pillies & slimey mackeral, little Narrabeen, nothing. I have experimented with light tackle as well (10lb floro leaders etc.). I have never caught nothing on live worms off the beach, never. I always manage something, so I'm mystified. Anyone else got any feedback? Cheers, Neil
  7. At the moment the lake is closed. It was getting some salt in briefly when the seas first came up with this windy weather, but now the sand appears to have piled up at the entrance. When the lake is open, my favourite spot is down near the caravan park using SPs on the sand flats and near the dropoff to the main channel. Plenty of flatties. Another good spot when the weather warms up is in the channel between the mainland and the island at the end of Wimbledon Ave. I've had some nice bream on baits down there, but never done particularly well on lures. In this weather any spot out of the wind is a good spot. Good Luck, let us know how you go. Cheers, neil

    Yaaaahoooooooo!

Well done mate. It's always nice to get away from unfair management. Cheers
  9. I just love Aussie salmon! On light tackle they go great. Well done! Cheers
  10. Agreed, nice work Mick and Gibbofisho. I have been writing to Iemma also regarding that fact that he's been mislead by the Greens, in fact lied to by omission. I copied the article in this link from Narooma News ( http://narooma.yourguide.com.au/deta...ral...;m=6&y=2006 ) and it's very interesting as it details some of the ways the Wilderness Society accrue their scientific evidence. It's amazing what lengths these guys go to just to spite the rest of the human race! Their rationale could be used to suggest that all humans be removed from the Australian continent on the grounds that it's one of the most unspoilt islands around and that it should be preserved. Nutters. Cheers, Neil
  11. I've decided to be a nuisance and send short, to the point letters to Iemma. Todays effort: Mr Iemma, You must be disappointed that after all of your efforts to control greenhouse gas emissions that Greenpeace have come out and effectively stabbed you in the back and publically criticised you. After all that effort to buy and culture the green vote as well. Now you must realise how I feel as a keen recreational fisher when I see state Labour nuturing the green vote by declaring scientifically unproven Marine Parks and no fishing sanctuary zones. As a lifelong Labour voter, you have stabbed me in the back. Sincerely,
  12. Well done! I just love catching sambos on light gear. My latest fishing rod purchase was a light beach rod for use with 8lb line specifically for sambos off the beach! Of course I'd rather catch kingies, but when you're land based there are limited options! Cheers, Neil
  13. Reminder - this is tonight. This weed is destroying the ecosystem and hence fishing in Pittwater.
  14. Well said Gibbofisho. I also get frustrated that you hear people complaining about Marine Parks, Sanctuary Zones, dioxins, caulerpa taxifolia (a noxious weed) etc, but when it comes to actually taking some action they stick their head in the sand. I'll see you there.
  15. I'll be the sad bugger at Mona Vale or Narrabeen beach (depending on swell) at high tide on Sunday at about 3 trying to catch some mroe sambos - wetsuit is looking good. Have a good one all, cheers, neil
  16. That's great to hear! Cya there. Cheers, neil
  17. Pittwater's buggered. See my post in Fisheries New & Politics http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/inde...showtopic=11871 The main point of the community forum is to address the noxious weed Caulerpa Taxifolia, but there are guys from fisheries who will be there. We need a high presence at this forum to show that we care about Pittwater, so follow the link above, read about it and book in. Let's make some noise and let's try and get some action. I for one don't want to be telling my grandchildren that there used to be great fishing, fairy penguins, sea eagles and a whole ecosystem in Pittwater that I allowed to be destroyed because I sat on my arse. Sorry about the rant, I feel very strongly about this. You do need to book in, but it costs nothing, the number and info can all be accessed via the link above. Cheers, Neilm
  18. Bad luck mate. I also had a shocker on Sunday morning off the beach at Long Reef. It was a new spot as I was trying to keep out of the southerly. Got nothing and am unlikely to return to that spot. But I will be out again one evening this week Cheers, Neil
  19. Pittwater council are holding a forum on the noxiuos water weed caulerpa taxifolia which is currently infesting Pittwater. It seems there has been a general lack of action in the past, and fisheries will have some representation at the meeting. This is our chance to get our opinions heard. It will be held on 8th June. Details on this link (below), book in and lets make some noise! http://www.pittwater.nsw.gov.au/RWP/wh.nsf...6A?opendocument Cheers, neil
  20. Zenman. Nice fish. Great to see them go back into the water! Cheers, Neil
  21. I hire a boat either on the Harbour or Pittwater. Due to the rape and pillage of Pittwater I prefer to fish the harbour if I hire a boat these days. Having said this I fish the beaches mainly and sometimes the rocks, and very occasionally Narrabeen lagoon.
  22. It's a matter of choice. Personally I'd rather learn how places are fishing in general and learn techniques from others, and I don't like crowds, so I tend to try and find places to fish on my own initiative. I am never adverse to advice however. If someone wants to post locations on the site then they should be able to without being insulted in a newcomers first post.
  23. ??? What a first post. Do you read the posts and not contribute until today? What a valuable contributor!
  24. Good luck mate. hope you get a whopper! Look forward to the report cheers, neil
