Those are some serious swimming rockets dogtooth
, I cannot stop thinking about the size of the unstoppable fishes that busted us big time down in Jervis Bay in February and you just gave me a glimpse of them
. How far down the coast did you go and how was the water temperature?
A bit off topic, I just got myself an Ocea Jigger 4000p spooled with PE8 and looking for a rod to match it, the T-Curve Deep Jig 400 is my 1st choice but I would appreciate your opinion on any other alternatives.
Regards,
Ryan
after spending the coin on a Ocea i would also spend the money on a good rod
the T-curves are a broomstick
check out some of the jigging master rods the three kings special is a weapon and will handle any thing
ive seen a few of the t-curves snap on some nice fish
and as usual john great work those kings are beasts
what gear did you catch them on your saragosas sure do get a good workout
-
alot of the time there unwanted bycatch from trawlers
so they just get thrown back either dead or dying
-
you also missed installing one into my boat
setup looks great

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

sounds like one of the big penn overheads
only problem is that they dont come in a 340 only a 220 and 230
there is a Penn 340GT2 is this what you bought ??

i just did a upgrade on my tld to a round handle
and i must admit it does feel great in the hand alot better then the original
but i couldn't find any round handles for the lower range of shimanos
only for the stellas

take a look at this DR DEPTH
"DrDepth is a software application that runs on either a PC (Vista/XP/2000/NT4/ME/98 etc) or a Pocket PC (Pocket PC/Windows Mobile 2003 or later). DrDepth creates bathymetric maps from position and depth data delivered by your GPS and sounder. DrDepth can be used for mapping both on and off the water."

wanted to start using my old TLD 25 some more so i decided to give it some pimping
ordered in a new handle unscrewed a few screws and made the switch
the added length of the new handles increases the power of the reel by a estimated 33%
ill let the pictures do the talking all end the mod cost me around $35

Nice, love the look on the T-Bar. Hope u get to try it out soon.
What rod is that Saragosa mounted on, looks like the new Jig-Wrex?
Cheers,
sha
talk about a late reply
it goes great on the reel but it still cuts up my hands
not the end of the world just have to make sure i have my gloves on when jigging
yeh its the new jigwrex s605
shes a weapon
-
not to far out but yeh how far is that off shore?
ha its about 22km offshore
heres some flatty drifts for around lion island
fresh baits work the best ie squid yakka fillets pillies
rig them up on a paternoster and you should come into some flattys
take care when drifting near the island tho as the waves can pickup and if u have motor issues its the last place you want to be
if your drift is too fast throw out a sea anchor if you don't have one tie a peice of rope to a bucket and throw the bucket in the water

congrats dave

looks like its going to be a cracka of a day Saturday
dont forget to take your pills Steve

what about one of these rods
"The bait jig rod allows you to wind your jig into the rod keeping it out of the road of feet and hands aswell as reducing the amount of time wasted untangling it from other rods. The Tip is ballooned and the inside of the blank is perfectly smooth to reduce tangles. Rated to 20lb it is suitable for most bait species caught on bait jigs."
sells for around $80

Nice work mate
that first one is a good fish
conditions look great out there
what was the water temp ??
-
nice work andy
that king in the 2nd photo is a beast
looks like the king with the metal in its gut was feeding with a school of tailor or sambos
either that or some one bought a spoon to a gun fight ha
cant wait to get out there this weekend hopefully run into a few of there mates
-
if they have the money and want to buy it go with the stella
the 5000SW or 8000SW is prob the size you are after for the fish your chasing
-
-
what about a PE knot
or why not just tie a loop in your braid with a bimini twist or a plait and just use a wind on leader
-
cheers for the day out steve
even tho i had no luck on any legal kings was still a fun day
i really hope that the big dollies pull alot harder then the rats as it was a pretty disappointing fight even on 4lb line
you forgot to mention that i grew tired of you catching all the fish so i had to throw one of your big bonnies over board
the baker i took on a jigg was a good 10-15mtrs off the bottom was rather disappointing when i saw it surface really had my heart set on a legal dollie
o well thats why they call it fishing not catching
theres always next time
my next trip out is going to be a bait free trip and im going to stick to jigging all day
-
heading up to sealrocks on the weekend for a little get away with some mates
wont be taking the boat and will be camping at treachery
plan is to be fishing off the rocks and beach
have fished off the beach before and got into some nice bream but i want to target some larger species
any tips of catching some jews or kings would be great
cheers

speak to RayR hes got one of these reels
if your only planning on sticking it onto a 5kg rod it might be a little over kill
your never going to use 20kg of drag on a 5kg rod
like i said speak to Ray he fishes from the rocks in your area hes the man to speak to
-
nice work
thats pretty poor of your crew to ditch you to do all the work and to take all the fish
you need to put a lock on your esky so they cant take the fish untill they help clean the gear
-
be sure to save a little extra as well for when you get the Spheros so you can get the upgraded drag washers and the stella handles
makes a great reel even better
"Turn your Spheros from a four-ball-bearing regular reel into a seven-ball-bearing precision machine with heaps more drag available!"

nice work Dave good to see some nice kings being taken outside
i was out there on sunday but was fishing in my mates boat kings where not a target fish sadly
trolled some lures around lion island for 1 salmon and found a school of bonito for a little fun on light gear

got home and got my boat ready then went out again with my bro looking for some bonito for the table
found them on the the back end of the joey kept a few the table
we will have to catch up soon for a fish try get stuck into some of the big guys
