  1. We left Pt Hacking at 1130, headed to browns, did a troll over the shelf, then trolled from browns towards Heatons for about 9nm, turned back towards Browns, and had a double hookup on 2 small stripeys about 6Nm from Browns. Continued to Browns, shut down the engines, fired up the genny and cooked dinner whilst we cubed. Gave it away at 7.30, and did just on a 1 hour run back into Port Hacking. Bugger all on the fishing scene, but saw 2 whales, 1 seal and bunch of albatross, good company and enjoyable day. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  2. I'm with Club Marine. Had a trailer boat with GIO, changed to Club Marine after a year, could not come to grips with having to value the trailer, hull and outboard separately. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  3. Years ago, we used to fish the causeway underneath the Liverpool bridge, after heavy rain whilst the floods are running. Carp and Bass would go over, then sit close trying to get back to the fresh Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  4. We were out on Tuesday, listening to all of you chatting away. We saw some action on the surface about 5-6km before Browns, so set up the troll lines then, as we got everything in, we came across a huge seal enjoying his breakfast. We trolled to Browns, then about 2/3 of the way to Heatons, back to Browns, back to where we saw the seal and then headed South. Same result, zip. Had a pod of about 8 Pilot Whales beside the boat as we bough the lines up. 140km of water, for no luck. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  5. I had a Signature 540F for about 6 years, it was a brilliant boat, and always made feel secure Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  6. What about picking them up from the city area? Walsh bay, around the Sebel Hotel. Opera house on the Eastern side. Or Darling Harbour, surely with the circumstances you could do a deal with the marina? $25 for 3 hours, I'm sure they would do a deal for a pickup and drop, or you could have dinner there at drop off time! Not only do they get to go for a fish, but a view of the Harbour Bridge, Darling Harbour, Opera House, etc, etc from the water. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  7. Have you got a website with these up? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

  9. Hi I have had a Sig. 540F now for over 4 years, it is a 1999 model with a 140HP Suzuki EFI 2 stroke. I can't fault the hull. Previous to this boat, I had basically stuck to bay and river fishing. The 540 has inspired the confidence in me to now mostly fish outside, last Sunday was the 2 Fads ending up about 15K out. I have been out in some fairly rough conditions and have never been concerned about the boat. The only downs I have had is the 2 stroke in relation to fuel use, I carry a 20L back up supply when going out,the 100L standard tank is just not big enough. And I do suffer with a lean to the right when running which I am still trying to rectify with weight distribution. As far as engine, I would be looking at a Suzuki 140Hp 4 Stroke. I would personally not go smaller.
  10. I totally agree with the last post in regards to the EPIRB, I also have the G, I did a bulk purchase and talked most of my friends into the same unit, reasoning being If ever it needs to be activated, at that point in time, you probably would not care it it had cost a $1000 more, 100m radius out the front compared to 5km possibly in a rough sea is not debatable. In regards to the radio, ALL the brands you have named are good quality, and all would sarve you well. It is not so much the brand as the features that drive the price. Also check the Vertex range, good quality and well priced.
  11. Had exactly the same problem with my previous boat. Grease sets like cement. I used a hammer, WD40, Kero and worked and worked the cable until I got it free, then washed as much grease as possible out. Friend who owns a boat shop, recommended a LANOLIN based lubricant, never had another problem.
  12. You can get Hose Clamps that big, also a truck exhaust shop would have similar clamps. Another way, Rhino Roof racks have clamps to fasten that size conduit onto their roof racks. Look up the Rhino Website. Or see a stockist.
  13. Personally I drive my 5.5m as far up the trailer as I can whin=ch is normally all the way. I have back and neck problems so hand winching any distance is out for me. I run 2 batteries in the boat, I ran the trailer wire from the deep cycle, and leave it up in the cab near the front hatch, so is easy enough to pass through connect to the winch and all done, I can actually do it without leaving the boat. Yes I use 50am anderson plugs And it laso doesn't matter who's vehicle we use to tow my boat. Also no cahnce of a battery being stolen off the trailer !

I have a half cab and placed mine just inside the Cabin, it is withn reach from the steering wheel and readily accessible from the passenger seat. Like the previous post I went for the Water Activated and GPS unit. I did a bulk purchase for a group of friends and a few customers. I basically talked them all into the same unit as they agreed with my reasoning. If ever I need to rely on it, at that point in time I won't care if the increased accuracy of the GPS was a $1,000 more let alone the extra $150 or so that it is. The previous post on pointing out where the EPIRB etc I believe is an important point. I am ex army and as such fairly safety conscious. I make a point of when we are all on the boat of atopping just out from the ramp, particularly with someone who doesn't know my boat and pointing out, Life Jackets, (I have the self inflaters so again a new person, how to where it) the grab bag with life jackets, the EPIRB why, how it works and importantly if they grab it, undo the string and tie it around their wrist, pointless if it floats away from us, the VHF radio and the distress button. I found it interesting when I jumped on a good friends boat who I had organised an EPIRB for that after we had been out for an hour or so, I actually had to ask him where he had put tje EPIRB, must say in an emergency I wouldn't have looked there.
