yer they are good sounders but i never see the bottom change even when i no im on sand or im on reef ...as told by the gps

great fish there mate!!.....where was this reef u were fshing?off botnay bay? north or south?sounds like a gun spot u have if u were 3-4km out in 30-40m of water esp off botany bay...pretty steep contours out there!

i have jus purchassed a raymarine ds500x sounder...great colour sounder but am finding it dfficult to identify whether i am on reef or sand...can ne one help me? cheeers alex

thanks 4 that info.....have u ever fished in 60m of water(about 4km out ) off bluey?....never floated baits there, mite be worth it with this report

we went through the whole tackle box...tried skirts, sp, rapalas but no luck on the troll...so drove to the school cut the engine and casted with 40g raiders....took ages to get a hit...it was only after hundreds of casts we got it and it as the only one 4 the day.....good fght tho took about 15mins to boat

na played soccer with him ages ago.....he said u boys got soaked that day...we went out on sat...battled the seas off kurnell and worked the muttons off there 4 a 5.2kg stripy good fun on 7kg braid!

hey Its that time of the year again...time for the full servce on the engine.....i rang up the usual place where i get my boat tuned, enterprse marine and geez the price has risen its now 700 bucks.....rang around the menai marine s the cheapest at 350 for a full service....has anyone go there boat serviced there b4?...problems? cheers alex

hey im in the process of buy a new sounder and have been tossng btn the raymarine ds400x, the humminbrd matrix 77C and the furuno LS4100....however rang up whitworths and they dont sell the raymarine sounder anymore as they have stopped the production line on them...so its a toss btn the humminbrd matrix 77C and the furuno LS4100...colour versus mono for double the price...any one used these sounders b4?...any help is greatly appreciated!.... cheers alex

hey all Was jus on the campbell pro tackle shop site....geez they have some good deals....could not believe it when they priced a 400 t- curve rod and a 14000 spheros reel for $399... wat a bargain....am jus checking to see if ne ones purchased something from there...wat were they like in terms of quality?...not a rip is it? cheers alex

thanx mate...yeah i think ill settle 4 the ds400x... can work with the smaller screen size if it means digital colour 4 the same price as the furuno

yeah was thinking bout getting the ds400x...fits the budget and is colour...the main problem i have with sounders is their depth capability...they say 500m but they dont get any where near that... usually fish offshore near plonk hole and that so need the power to sound in that depth....does it sound well in deep water say 100m plus? cheers alex

hey all, having problems with my x126 lowrance and i think it is time to get a new sounder...can anyone tell me a good sounder for offshore application preferably dual frequency and upwards of 300rms of output power ...been searching around recently and have found the furuno LS4100 and the LS6100....does ne one have these...r they good sounders? cheers alex

hi all raiders, heard there have been some monster kingies around of late jigging the reefs around the 12mile reefs...anyone hit them?...jus bought a new jigging combo...a nice t-curve and a spheros...hoping to hit them soon and jus wanted to get an idea where they are at cheers alex

i have to admit float fishing is successful esp when burleying ...but i have found the same results if u anchor and use a burley bomb and a running sinker rig with a large ball sinker above the swivel...proven affective 4 me...anyone else use this technique when fishing 4 snapper?i think it gets ur bait down in the zone quicker and still allows natural movement.

well done mate great fish there....if u dont mind me asking wat depth were u in? floatin baits out wide takes a bit of effort doesnt it?!...but watever ur doing works keep it up!

thanx alot mate 4 that info...thinkin about targetting snapper 2morow...heard they r on a pinacle in 36m of water off the lighthouse at Kurnell...no GPS mark were given to me but was told to line up the lighthouse with the stink pipes ...fingers cossed hopefully will get some! not sure about the stink pipes at kurnell though any one know them? cheers alex

i am a big fan of the TLD25 as well....in my mind sahara and aernos oceania series in the 6000 models (have 2 of each) are great reels...they r tough and great 4 reef fishing offshore!!...im not 2 fond of okuma...have had a few fail on me..would never buy one again.. i say stick to wats the best...shimano! cheers alex

Got my new reel today...an aernos oceania series 6000...and bought some braid aswell...decided to get Sure Catch braid Live Fibre TX 270m of it for 72bucks...cant wait to use it on the reefs 2morow!! cheers alex

Thingin about goin out to the FAD off Botany Bay near the peak tomorrow...does anyone know if there are any dollies off it????was there on friday..water was 24degrees but no dollies...its a bitch deciding where to fish the nite b4... 2 head north or south...hit a reef near the lighthouse off kurnell...or to fish off coogee? or go wide??? such a decision!!!!!!!!!...any advice greatly appreciated....i did hear the snapper were on off the lighthouse though cheers alex
