  1. Yep berkley is very shallow averages about 3 feet.Always head out of the right side of the harbour as your facing the lake. You will find you will have to share this ramp with the pros but its only 5 mins to the channel entrance.Ramp at Kanahooka is steep and extremely slippery and the parking is very ordinary. Not good in a stiff southerly and heaps of jetskiers frequent here.New ramp at Tallawrra is good but maybe a bit hard to find you have to go through Dapto or come back around over the Yallah overpass.Hope this helps. cheers....Roy
  2. Heres another all different fish. cheers....Roy
  3. Hey Spinman definite black heres another shot.Would of put more up but a hassle to downsize. There is a good population of blacks in the basin. cheers....Roy
  4. Went down to St Georges basin in the pro angler today. Not the greatest weather i was soaked only 200 mtrs from the ramp and copped another 2 more soakings. Looked like being a donut for the day as in the first three hrs all i had was zilch then i got smoked into the trees and lost my favourite attack yellow nw pencil.Changed venues after a quick peddle and got my first black bream at 33cm and a pb.Then got smoked again and down another nw pencil getting to be an expensive day.Time to get a jazz zappa out. Pulled out a few smaller breams then got another black bream at 31cm things are on the up.Then a new pb black at 36cm.I was on fire well i would of been if i wasnt so wet.I spied a bream feeding next to a tree and fired in a shot right next to him and he smashed it.Thankfully he ran out into the open and finally a new pb black at 39cm.Not bad considering i hadnt caught one before and now i had 4. All these fish were feeding against the bank in less than 12 inches of water in the trees and casting was tight.I ended up in the sticks a few times and every time i had to go in to untangle fish went everywhere. Anyway great day all fish released to fight an other day. cheers....Roy
  5. Check the tides if theres a big high and a low low the current will be raging.Anchoring up and moving around will be your best bet.Been plenty of good fish caught up near the dropoff just watch for the sand bars up towards the top of the channel. You can set your crab pots after you get into the lake proper you will see were everyone else is.And the weed has been a huge problem at times more than likely from the pros netting for prawns and mullet. cheers......Roy
  6. Excellent effort there.Once you get the top water bug your hooked for life.Nothing better than hearing a fish slurping your lure.Try some sunline rockfish flouro it is very strong but it doesnt float like mono.Been using 4lb on my pencils and its been very reliable. cheers...Roy
  7. Hi there not sure of your fishing style but if your using soft plastics and hard bodies you cant go wrong.Try some surface lures on any of the flats for whiting and bream and maybe flattys.Over the cockle beds are a great place for bream as well. You catch a lot of fish no more than 20mtrs from the shoreline and in less than a 1mtr of water.Use poppers and pencils the surface action is good at the moment.Hope that helps. cheers....Roy
  8. I take it your refering to the channel flowing out of windang lake. The fishing has been some of the best in a long time. Depends if your going to be fishing in a boat or from the shore.Have been stacks of flattys and there of good size.Plenty of whiting and bream but there are a lot of smaller ones amongst them and the tailor to eat your plastics. It is illegal to set crab pots in the lake channel you have to go into the lake proper. You can go over to the fisheries office to check if your unsure. cheers....Roy
  9. Google weatherzone. cheers...Roy
  10. Ahh the joys of school holidays not long till there over.Maybe an eyesight test for a boat license would be a good idea.Dont know how many people i have seen that thinks a 4 knot sign eqalls 40 mph.Slow down have respect for fellow water users and show some decency towards your fellow fishers after all were all here for the same reason to catch a few and have some fun. cheers........Roy
  11. Hey Rocco i have used green red white and yellow dont think it matters to much.I think what matters is that you are using fluorocarbon as a leader and that is of a decent length. Just my opinion. cheers....Roy
  12. Think you mean Bass point Mick. You must of been that excited your fingers werent touching the keyboard.Congratulations by the way. Cheers.....Roy
  13. Whatever rod you buy make sure you spend more on the reel.IMO thats what i have tried to do i feel the reel is a bit more important. cheers.....Roy
  14. Super happy with the rod it has so much power behind it.Also have one of the ian miller bream busters but its just a tad lighter. Be hoping i can tangle with some good bream on the hard bodies soon.Had read some posts about the recoil guides but i havent had any issues yet so keeping the fingers crossed. cheers............Roy
  15. Actually the fish are on the sand bank.I need to get someone to fish with so i can get them to take some photos. Theres only so many ways to photograph a fish on the bank or in a kayak.Maybe i need more imagination photography was never my strong point. cheers.....Roy
  16. Ended up getting a new tcurve flight and paired it up with a sustain 2500 with 4lb braid and was looking at using it for breaming. Ended up taking it for a wading expedition this morning on the lake.Just got at a nice little creek draining out at the bottom of the tide and started flicking out one of the new PX55s and got a tailor straight away. Then got smashed a short time later by a 50cm flatty in about 6 inches of water. All i had with me was a pair of plyers and spare pencils.Let him swim away for another day. Decided with the tailor about i would give the maria a run as i hadnt caught anything on it and if it got swallowed it wouldnt hurt to much.Ended up getting 3 more of them. Then switched over to my old faithfull attack yellow nw pencil.Straight away a nice little bream to start and a great whiting about 32cm. Then it got belted by a 55cm flatty in about 1 metre of water he had me all over the place and with a 4lb leader i was getting a bit nervous. He came in and i could see he was lip hooked so no worries.Got the hooks out and let him swim away.Ended up with another smaller flatty and then did the bolt over the mud flats with the tide quickly rising. Agreat way to blood the new rod and i am very happy with it. cheers....Roy
  17. Been a long while since i have been to conjola.Looks like they have had more rain than we have and we have had stacks.Had a look at Werri lagoon last sat before visiting friends. They opened the entrance with a bulldozer the other day as the houses were getting close to being waterlogged. Its mud flats now.Had been planning to put the proangler in for a spin be a long time now.My mate was jogging along the beach and found the biggest mud crab on the sand so there in the system. If they do open Conjola the beaches will be firing good luck. cheers.............Roy
  18. Was just going to be a short report on how my new found confidence in Lake Illawarra had been shattered and it had returned to lake dissapointment once more. I bit the bullet yesterday and bought a PFD1 as i didnt want a fine from waterways and argue about how far 100mtrs was when i am in the proangler.I rocked up with my new buy and was pleasantly surprised by how light and comfortable it was.But the big test was could i catch anything in it.Was it a Jonah. Well for the best part of 3hrs in some of best conditions for weeks it looked like it.3 small bream and a heap of missed hits things were not looking good. Then as i was about to call it a day one last drift near some weed beds and i caught 4 more bream and a nice whiting. I was onto something. Then things took a turn.I could here a bit of a commotion and turned a round to see 2 blokes in the drink and 2 kayakers helping them. I pedalled over to lend a hand and a boat came over as well.We got the boat up onto a sandbar and the blokes out of the water. We then preceded to empty the boat with buckets and get there gear out. Turns out one of them had bad knees and struggled to walk he stood up and so did the other bloke at the same time and hey presto there both in the drink.Neither had life jackets on and didnt look like the could swim either. But the did have 2 brand new life jackets in there packets floating away.By law they didnt have to have them on as there was 2 in the boat but they looked like they needed them more than me. Well they got the motor going and went down to the boat ramp to go home.I had a chat to the other kayakers then went back myself and saw them at the ramp. All they were worried about was one of them lost his wallet and his phone was cactus.I said to him better than being dead and maybe you should be wearing your life jackets He didnt get it. I dont feel so bad about wearing mine now and will continue to do so. I was tempted to ask them to hold up a bottle and take a photo for dec catch of the month not sure if it would of qualified. So all in all an exciting days fishing on lake dissapointment but i would rather be catching fish than people who have no idea about the water and how look after themselves cant wait to see what the holidays bring.Heaven help us. cheers........Roy
  19. Not sure how the rain and wind has affected the water temprature down there. But if you fish around the cockle beds you cant do to badly. If you got some surface lures give them ago in the shallows. Was getting some huge whiting and bream and flattys before the weather turned sour.If your lucky enough to get one of the big girls down there give her a kiss and wave goodbye to her. cheers......Roy
  20. Thats gold.Reminds me of when my daughter and i used to fish together. Before school and frost on the ground but she always wanted to catch one more bream before we went home.Hope this is the start of a long association with you and your daughter and fishing.Pity you havent got keys in the pics would of been my pic of the month hands down. cheers...................Roy
  21. Excellent stuff guys.Nothing better than afew mates getting together and taking the mickey out of each other.Think physcoligists call it male bonding.Cant wait to see episode 2. chers...Roy
  22. Hi Roberta great and detailed report as usual.Just wondering what type of plastics and rig and gear your using for fishing the sp's. I feel like i am getting a handle on the pencils and want to try soft plastics on the surface for some variety.I would be fishing in water up to a metre deep over weed beds and maybe racks if i go down the coast.Any information would be a great help. cheers....Roy
  23. Got up for an early fish to try and catch the top of a very low tide.Areas that were under water last week were bone dry.Second cast and i was on 34cm and looked like being a great day.Very skinny water and was lucky to scrape the proangler through some sections. In 2 hours i ended up with eleven bream and one cracker whiting about 38cm.But there was a casualty count 4 broken trebles on the nw pencils and a baby rover. The fish were very agressive and smashed the pencils. If the wind was a bit kinder i would of given the grass minnows a go next time. One of the best days i have had on the lake cant wait for the next one.
  24. Hey Jimmy i have been having great success on the nw pencils.Best colours have been attack yellow and any of the ayu"s.Make sure your using very light gear.Good luck. cheers......Roy
  25. Great effort there and i thought i was brave using 4lb with $20 lures. But seriously how can you see 2lb leaders i thought tying knots in 4lb was like tying knots in my own hair.Looks like i have to get a magnifing glass to keep up with you. cheers...............Roy
