ETTY Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 Hey Raiders, Just looking out from my verandah and noticed at the enterance to Port Hacking just out from Jibbon Head there is a a lot of foamy looking stuff in the water stretching about 50 metres across to Cronulla. Just wondering if any raiders knew what it is or what/who caused from as it is something I've never seen in the Port Hacking before?? Cheers Etty
inked Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 stop boasting about your waterviews j/k no idea what it is mate, maybe be some storm water runoff?
squidgie Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 Is the surf rough? Could be algae....that browny looking foam stuff after a bit of a rough...
Mondo Rock Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 I'm not sure what it's technical name is but it is probably what I call 'salt-foam'. Whenever there is rough surf conditions this foam forms on the surface of the water and ends up drifting around the place after the winds have died off. It's perfectly natural and is not pollution, as I understand it.
