skramp_84
Hi everybody. I have been reading this forum for years but never posted. I have been fishing for about 15 years now. I grew up in Port Stephens and fished the estuaries as well as the beaches and rocks. I have recently moved to Sydney and im completely at loss as to where to fish. I live in the inner west and so would like to fish somewhere on the south side of the harbour or off the rocks (but not too heavy, ie no cliffs to abseail) on the eastern seaside. I dont have a boat. I am most keen on livebaiting but dont mind spinning or deadbaiting. I really want to lay into some jewies, kingies, salmon, tialor or big bream. Thanks heaps in advance for any help anybody can give me. Cheers.

With your background, you should have no worries getting back into it - safer to stay away from those cliffs .... been some nasty accidents in recent years! I'm up the coast, so can't help with the Sydney locations, but someone else will, very soon, I bet! Ve haf Raiders efferyvere! See ya Roberta
skramp_84
Hi again, Thanks for the warm welcome. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. Im not after secret spots just any rough ideas about where I can go, get some livies and have a crack. As I said I have very little knowledge of the harbour or Eastern beaches. If someone can point me in the right direction, thanks so much. I tried Clifton gardens on the weekend but couldn't get a spot on the pier, so instead, I fished the rocks on the southern end, about 20m east of the baths net. I arrived at 5.30am with the intention of catching some squid and livebaiting for a kingy. After spinng for squid without success, i tried to get some yellowtail on bread. There was no action there either. While packing up my big rod because I couldnt get any bait, I left out a larger piece of bread under a small bubble foat. Just before retrieving the line to wind it in, bang, the float got nailed. After a resonable fight on 2lb gear, I landed a 43cm blackfish. I was pretty stoked with this. Have a good one. Cheers

Cheers just a quick reply, i'm not sure about spots on the south side of the harbour bridge, but (sort of) near clifton gardens, there is The Spit bridge and around that area, of which i havnt fished myself, but there is another post in this forum about it, saying its not too bad. from what i can gather, u'll get urself a bit of a mixed bag of fish there. also, if ur keen to fish around middle harbour (north side of the harbour bridge) there are a few spots around northbridge/mosman, and also balmoral is popular too, which might be worth a go if ur bored hope this has helped somewhat! seb
Robbielites
Hi Mate, to the site. Birchgrove wharf has been getting kings recently I have been told. Also the gladesville bridge area has been known to produce a jewie or two, and Thames St wharf in Balmain has given me a few squid at night. Cheers. Robbie. skramp_84
Thanks for those suggestions. I have had a look at the Gladesville bridge but wasnt sure where to fish from? Is there access at the Eastern end or Western end? Does the next bridge along near Birkinhead point hold anything? I think ill try Birchgrove at the weekend. Ill let you know how it goes.
