Just saw a video of what they reckon is the record for mangrove jacks - caught off Coffs Harbour! A huge 12.5kg - previous biggest was about 6.5kg!

That is not a fish - that is a monster!

G'day all

The report was in the 6pm evening news on NBN9. A prawn trawler Captain found the fish in their net. The fish has been sent to the Sydney Fish Markets.

She was one BIG fish!

Looks good but the previous Australian record was 11.679kg

any pics?

I'd say that is still the record if that other Jack was caught in

a fishermans net.

Hi ya

I was on the computer when the news item came on, so jotted down the news as it emerged - perhaps the Coff's newspapers would have it featured somewhere. It was huge! Obviously got that big from being pretty smart - but not smart enough to avoid the net!

Cheers
