DaveD Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 (edited) Finally decided to buy some TUNA OIL, I've never used the stuff but thought hopefully a fish will want a taste of a plastic or hardbody now if it had a sweet taste for em. Picked it up for about $6 for 500ml so I'm gonna see how it goes...how has it been for others? Simply soaking or dipping bait/lures into it. Edited March 19, 2007 by AmateurDave
Davy Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 personally i wouldnt suggest dipping lures into them, the oil stays on forever and not very pleasant in your tacklebox thereafter. i only liketo use a tiny bit mixed in with my berley or 'marinate' bait overnight with it. Cheers DAVY
gio Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 i wouldnt do this for the reasons mentioned above, as has already been said put a little bit in your burley the stuff goes a long way. If you want to put something on your lures try some ultrabite spray, or egimax, but even these will leave your lures smelling a bit funky in your tackle box
Guest dicko1 Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Yeah mate i agree, definately would not recommend using tuna oil on lures.... stick to the ultrabite...
netic Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Mate tuna oil is good for mixing in wit burley...definately wouldnt recommend using it with lures... Also when using it with burley do not put too muich...you only need a little bit...
Davy Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Also when using it with burley do not put too muich...you only need a little bit... unless ur looking for sharks and all other types of ooglie googlies! Davy
DaveD Posted March 20, 2007 Author Posted March 20, 2007 So all in all, they should be able to just enjoy the lure so long as theyre attracted to the tuna oil in the water with the burley. No worries then, thanks.
Guest IFishSick. Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 I have started to use Prawn Oil on my Squid jigs. Seems to possibly get more squid.....but they do hit the lure more aggressively. I saw Prawn scent on a Prawn imitation.
